It was our first time in Mauritius, but definitely not the last. There is few factors which made our holiday special and unforgettable. Laguna Beach Hotel is a lovely, cozy hotel with fantastic views and amazing pool area. The scenery is breathtaking! Also our rep, Rama, was always available and extremely helpful. Same as all the staff in Laguna Beach - they sorted everything what we asked for. Generally, Mauritian people are by far most friendly people we came across. Thank you Rama, thank you Laguna Beach Hotel and thank Mauritius for our great Anniversary trip!

We stayed at laguna beach for 10 nights at the end of January and beginning of February. The hotel itself is located in a very quiet area where on the east side of the island and further away from any touristy spots. Therefore, to get somewhere you have to use either the taxi or rent a car. We used the first option and spent each day approx. 70-80 euros per day, which was fairly ok. The hotel itself looked great at the first glance, the reception was very nice decorated and the staff was super welcoming and friendly - especially the waiters at the restaurant / bar!! We had an all inclusive package (breakfast, lunch, pancake / tea time, dinner and beverages / selected cocktails) - the restaurant offered every single day a variety of local specialities (limited vegan / gluten free options though). We were there during the Chinese new year, and for this the restaurant decorated everything and also offered a Chinese inspired buffet - which we liked! Overall, the food was somewhat average. The room itself were a little outdated or are in need of some renovation (especially the bathrooms). Also we felt like the maids were not really cleaning the bathrooms every single day? There were some stains at the lamps / mirrors from the guests before us, also the shower heads were super calcified, which is something you could change easily by cleaning it more properly. As mentioned, the hotel was located a little further away from nice beaches (the one at the hotel we couldn’t really access, because the hotel was struggling with algae during that time, which is of course not their fault). The hotel, however, offers a boat „shuttle“ to Ille aux cerfes. Nevertheless, you have to sign up the day before and the boat leaves only once a day at 12.30pm and picks you up at 3.30pm, our driver was late and also the boat drive itself took up some time, therefore we unfortunately only had 1 1/2 hours on the island … which is a pity as you cannot really enjoy the beach that much. Nevertheless, overall we thought that the hotel was okay for what we have paid. However for our next trip, we would look for a hotel that has a better access to the beach.

The Location: The location is good with the rooms giving a good view of the ocean, and the hills. However the water might not be that great to take a bath, although they have a swimming pool. Room Service/House Keeping: This is an absolute disappointment. They simply dont have an idea how much towels do two people need in a day, and simply dont give you enough towels. Even if you call reception for the same, they simply forget. Adding to the woes, when we checked in the rooms lock was broken. It took nearly 1.5 hours for the maintenance guy to fix it. After an overnight flight, waiting for the rooms lock to be repaired, that too when the hotel had ample time to clean and check for letting guest check in, was disastrous Adding more to the inconvenience: Electricity went off on a rough weather day, but the hotel had no power backup for the AC, and there is no other ventilation for the room, it was one of the those days - outside was rainy, and inside the room you are jammed. The Restaurant: The restaurant staff are good and cooperative, and the food was mostly good. In terms of variety, the food cooked was mostly Indian. The staff at house keeping need to be more cooperative and try to understand customer woes better

There is no beach in the resort and around (somehow this was a surprise) and cleaningness could have been higher but it's not so expensive and food is great. It's perfect if you plan to stay inside the resort all the time and use the swimming pool. It's not good if you want to explore the island as the are almost no attractions around (katamaran trip with snorkeling and tea plantation visit that is 1h driving away were great though).

Absolutely devastating experience with the hotel!!! Booked hotel for 6 nights couple months before my trip. My wife and I was so excited to visit Mauritius. A day before I got an email saying they overbooked and my reservation was cancelled. Money was already taken and to book a hotel just a night before leaving it was awful. We overpaid 600 GBP. In addition, our money was not refunded, so it left me 1500GBP short. I had to make emergency arrangement to get at least some funds to spend during my holidays. Not just this ruined my mood but also ruined my experience,as I was travelling to Mauritius already with worst expectations.
