Katathani Phuket Beach Resort

I recently stayed at this hotel for a week and found it to be a mixed experience. The room design was nice and authentic, and everything was very clean. The atmosphere of the resort was pleasant, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. I appreciated the option to get a massage in the area, and the food was very tasty. Outside, taxis were very easy to find, and the prices were very clear. However, there were a couple of downsides. The beach, despite having a nice view, was unfortunately full of garbage. Additionally, the fitness facilities could use some modernization. Overall, while there were some areas for improvement, the positive aspects made for an enjoyable stay.

Overall the hotel rooms and cleanliness were great.Front office staff and concierge service were awesome. Breakfast was not too good with several hygiene issues, one of them being that food is left open with flies hovering around, children not well supervised and I found one kid dipping and tasting all the jams and returning tasting spoon back in the jar! This was extremely off putting. In summary if you are looking for an "adult only" relaxing environment then this hotel is not it! Staff were not always friendly and courteous. and especially the poolside bar staff. Service here was poor and drinks took very long to come. To get another round of drinks was even more challenging and I felt I was being a burden! These comments are only meant to make management aware of some customer issues for improvement. Thanks.

The room was full of ants and dusty shelves; they don’t clean the rooms properly. The hotel has two buildings far from each other, which is not mentioned on any booking websites. There is a bad smell, and the place feels very old. There are too many frogs; I can’t sleep from the frog sounds outside the room. I haven't tried the breakfast yet, but I read bad reviews about it. The Thai restaurant here is not good; the food is not tasty, and halal options are very limited. There are no beach lounges on the beach. I will definitely never come again,It doesn’t deserve to be a 5-star hotel.

There are two locations for this property which we were unaware, on the same street. They put us at the second location, not beach side. We had to pay for an upgraded room (same side) because the first was very tired and the ac blasted cold air all night long. Property is clean and well maintained. Pools were very nice. There is no adult pool on either resort which is unfortunate. Lots of kids. Italian restaurant is 4 star. We did see an amazing sunset. Breakfast is pretty good. It’s a 3.5 star experience at most but great for families. Town is small & cute and a fabulous tailor nearby. Lots of places to eat along the street. We also didn’t know they have an all inclusive rate until we heard other guests talking about it.

We were in Katathani for 2 weeks in a junior ocean view suite with our 3 small kids. The hotel entrance and overall grounds are very beautiful, clean and organized. As soon as you walk into the resort the smell of the sea and the amazing facilities and multiple pools make you feel you are in for an amazing vacation. They took us in a golf cart to our room which was great because the grounds are big and walking to our room on the other side of the hotel with 4 suitcases would have been quite a challenge. The hotel staff was amicable from day 1 in all areas of the resort. Approaching our room we passed by a beautiful pond with a small white bridge and gorgeous trees - it was really breathtaking. We opened the door to our room and that's when we felt a huge dissonance between the hotel overall and the inside of our room. It was very old, I am specifically allergic to dust and I already felt my allergies kicking in, the floor was quite dusty and dirty. The bathroom was very moldy, specifically the shower. The toilet had stains all over and everything was very very outdated..the balcony window didn't close properly and we heard everything outside 24/7 including the huge waves hitting the sand at night that would sometimes even wake us up. The next morning - the breakfast place was big and nice but there were many cons. The coffee machines were super dirty, the food options we found were almost identical from day to day and we quickly got tired of the same food offering to the point we barely had any appetite. The pools are great - no complaints on that end. The pools bars were great but if you missed having lunch somewhere - you couldn't eat anything until 6 pm when restaurants would open again. Prices in all bars and restaurants are significantly pricey compared to nearby ones outside the hotel. There is an amazing coffee shop/store in the entrance of the hotel which had great shakes and coffee but again - pricey. The beach was gorgeous but unfortunately we were at the end of April and the waves were quite big so we couldn't enjoy much of the beach. The spa was truly amazing with great service and the scents were mind blowing - but they close very early and again - pricey For kids this place is heaven- many polls, a kids club which is great with dozens of toys and activities, kids pools, beach, food options. However the room was really not that of a 5 star hotel at all (more like a 3-4 star) and the prices in the bars and restaurants are very pricey and the breakfast doesn't change. Unfortunately, we had to cut our stay short. Despite already paying in full, the hotel was very accommodating and refunded us the balance for the unused nights. I would definitely recommend this hotel for its friendly service. One last thing to note - the hotel is on a small isolated road with almost nothing within close proximity other than a pharmacy 3-4 restaurants and massage places. So if you want to walk around it's really not recommendable as there is nothing to see within walking distance so you would need to take a taxi or a tuktuk.
