Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach

I decided to spend my birthday at Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites in Montego Bay. When we first arrived, security could not find our reservation and directed us to JOIA Rose Hall by Iberostar, only for us to later find out we were actually staying at the Selection property. The hotel lobby was beautiful and smelled amazing, and I initially thought the stay would be great. Shortly after check-in, a staff member invited us to breakfast at JOIA and told us there was no catch, but it turned out to be a sales presentation for a vacation package. The presentation was very convincing, and I ended up making a $3,000 down payment. We upgraded to a suite with a swim-up pool. The staff throughout the resort were very friendly, and dinner and entertainment that evening were excellent. Unfortunately, the experience quickly went downhill. When we returned to the room that night, there were roaches running across the bathroom floor. We immediately contacted our butler. The situation completely ruined the experience. On top of that, the swim-up pool connected to our room was dirty, which made it unusable and very disappointing considering we paid for an upgraded suite. When we reported everything to management, the only solution offered was dinner for two on the beach, which did not feel appropriate given the situation. When we checked out, we were told someone would contact us with a better resolution. It has now been two months and no one has reached out. I expected much more from Iberostar, especially for a birthday trip.

I don’t know where to begin. We went with 4 other families and had 10 kids between us all. An utter disappointment is an understatement. Staff was extremely rude as if we were bothering them being there. The beach was littered with trash. There are vendors in canoes blocking access to the ocean selling items and cat calling to get people over to them to buy stuff not to mention asking beach goers to get them food. The lady at the burger shack was extremely rude, always with a scowl on her face. We were ignored a few times trying to order food for the kids. The jerk chicken shack was delicious and the staff there were great. The buffet hall reeked of fish past its expiration date and fried oil. It was disgusting and very unappetizing. The food overall was mediocre at best. The pool area was super loud. Constant music or someone speaking into a microphone blaring through one speaker. I enjoy music by the pool, but the volume of it was unbearable. There were also no smoking signs everywhere at the pool area, but not enforced. A group of guys in their 20s were smoking joint after joint and there was no enforcement for them to stop. Not family friendly at all. The entertainment at night was in the open courtyard area and was so loud it seemed like they were right in our room. It was hard to fall asleep at night with all the noise. Not to mention the kids were up all night because of the noise. The rooms are in major need of an update. They are basically falling apart and held together by a bandaide of very noticeable caulk and plaster. Lipstick on a pig. I would not recommend this resort to anyone looking for a family friendly or relaxing vacation. There was no fitness center or spa on the property. I will say the grounds are kept very well and I appreciate seeing them mop down the pool area every morning, as well as never running out of towels at the pool area. Other than that it was not an enjoyable stay.

I had the most amazing time staying the Waves resort. My concierge Roxanne is a gem, she has such a lovely personality. She book my Japanese reservation and activate some credits that I used to get some discount at the spa. My favorite restaurant was the Jamaican, you can feel the friendliness. Entertainment was just wonder and all the staff was just great. Feels like home away from home.

Absolutely loved the entertainment team! They’re all extremely talented dancers and put on an amazing show! KK, Finez and tooshort were so kind and made a point to remember my mom and my name! There was always a fun activity happening for all ages!

Concrete and V6 did a great job at entertaining my family and I while we were here. Im laughing at v6 antics while im writing this. Great time, great food, staff exceptional. The only resort we have ever considered spending our money on again on a future date. LOVE THE CAT SANCTUARY 🐈.
