Hotel Ta Cenc is situated in a wonderful location on Gozo, near the world-famous cliffs. It's especially beautiful in spring, when the flowers bloom in every color above the azure sea. The setting is peaceful and inviting, perfect for relaxing walks. The food at this 5-star hotel is varied and excellent; the incredible buffet is highly recommended. The hotel's Ta' Cenc II Kantra restaurant is also highly recommended, although unfortunately, there's no shuttle bus service, as the restaurant is about 3.5 km away and only open for lunch until 5 pm. The entire hotel team is very friendly and helpful, and they try their best to fulfill guests' wishes. A big compliment to them. Unfortunately, I spent three weeks in an old and very neglected bungalow-like room. Many things were broken or didn't work, or didn't work properly. The faucet dripped and was difficult to turn on. To take a shower, you had to climb into the old bathtub, which was so rotten and flimsy that you were afraid it would fall through. The only, battered mosquito net is in the bathroom, making it nearly impossible to ventilate the musty room. I managed to reduce the stench somewhat by plugging the various drain holes, which is also evident in the gray patches. The windows and doors are also rotten and broken, and the handles are loose. There's no sea view, as the bushes and surrounding area are poorly maintained. Cut and fallen palm fronds are simply thrown into a pile, creating a haven for rats. Unfortunately, due to the presence of these rats, I couldn't leave the balcony door open. The terrace, including the furniture, wasn't cleaned or mopped during the entire three weeks. The safe doesn't work properly, and the in-room refrigerator is empty. There are no day curtains, despite the view inside, and some of the night curtains aren't even hanging. Al this during these 3 weeks. In conclusion: The complex has been partially renovated but is still far from a 5-star standard. Despite our feedback, we were not offered the opportunity to change rooms, and our requests were only addressed pro forma. ……

This is where you go to switch off. Place is left untouched like going back in time, which in my opinion is part of the experience. Quiet, great spa and indoor to outdoor pool, gym needs an update but still enough to get a good workout. Love how they care for the cats, ‘igloos’ are really great for peace. Great walk, views and outdoor eating.

Our stay at Hotel Ta’ Cenc was mixed. The room itself had issues – we found ants inside, the balcony was dirty with an old cigarette, and the air conditioning could only cool to 22°C, resetting automatically. Once, we even had no hot water for about two hours. Housekeeping did a good job though: the bed was clean and well prepared, and we received fresh water, coffee, tea, and toiletries every day. Service by the pool was disappointing. Even when I waved, nobody came over to take an order. In contrast, the spa staff were excellent – especially the bald man in the white polo. He was by far the most helpful person in the whole hotel, even bringing me silicone gloves for my injured hand so I could use the pool. He always checked if we needed towels or anything else, which really stood out. The spa area itself was beautiful, usually quiet, and the sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi were the highlights. Massages, however, are far too expensive. Food was very good – dinner was tasty with a fair price for a 3-course menu, and breakfast was excellent, even with sparkling wine included. Overall: great spa and food, but service and room conditions need serious improvement.

The staff at Hotel Ta’ Cenc & Spa on Gozo island shined brightly during hurricane force winds and rain which closed the Malta to Gozo ferry. We decided to forfeit our non-refundable 4 day holiday for fear of further turbulence and closures with a plane to catch in 4 days. The staff replied quickly and said they understood and promptly refunded the full amount of our non-refundable fee without any prompting. I can only imagine how well they would have taken care of us had we made it to Gozo. These people are the real deal.

Where do I start? I had an amazing time here! Ta' Cenc is located on the edge of the quietest town on Gozo, but is a 10 minute drive from the biggest town of victoria. It has amazing views of the white cliffs and you can walk directly out of the hotel to several circuits that give you breathtaking views. I absolutely loved the fact that this hotel wasn't a soulless multistorey hotel. It has pods reminiscent of inca buildings and pyramids that all have there own small outdoor seating area. The rooms are spacious and light and the beds are so large that they could have 2 different postcodes! The only downside is the bathrooms that are a little dated, but the setting and the staff more than make up for this! There was a very helpful receptionist that gave me lots of good knowledge of the island, and was super helpful on both arrival and checkout. We had a late check in, and he made sure the bar stayed open for us to unwind. Thank you so much, you made our visit so much more pleasant. Big shout out to the bar staff too. They were very friendly, and very informative too. The restaurant was very good too, but a little pricier than other equally good places on the island. I loved this place so much, and I'm already planning my next visit! I think I'll be going for a suite next time though for the added sunbathing privacy/views. Thank you ta' Cenc.
