Hotel Riu Plaza New York Times Square

Situated one block from Times Square and close to the Subway, this hotel gives you a perfect base when you explore Manhattan. When you enter the hotel, the lobby offers a spacious area for sitting and relaxing. It also boasts a bar/restaurant and a cafe. Restrooms are available. Check in staff are friendly and polite. 1 of the 6 elevators can take you to your room, they were fast and reliable. Rooms were clean, and offered a large screen tv, extra large bed, which I found very comfortable but my husband didn’t like it. A small desk and a large, very nice shower room. Constant hot water. Shampoo and shower gels, fluffy big towels and nice clean toilet. Unfortunately for me, we had an interconnecting room, this made me be able to hear every word coming from the room next door. Disappointing. On the day before we left, a coffee machine turned up in the room. Was a little annoyed that they had forgotten to put it back in the room but the coffee from the 7/11 from over the rd was fabulous, so I didn’t complain. Breakfast was good. Selection was varied from full English to continental. Lots of fruit and different hot/cold drinks on offer. Staff worked quickly and were polite. Only 1 bad thing for me, the lids to the food were heavy and would not stay up. There was no room to put your plate down and hold the lid so it became a juggling thing. The breads and cakes were above the hot food and being short, I could not reach them. Not ideal as their lids would not stay open either. Didn’t like the fact you were leaning over hot food either. In all, this hotel offered the perfect base for me.

We had a fabulous stay( not our first time ). Fab room and facilities excellent. Breakfast was great and the staff had it fine tuned to deal with the guests coming down for breakfast. One negative : the Lobby was excellently laid out. However, if one needed the rest room it was locked and one had to ask for the key from the guy on security ? In this day and age that is unacceptable ????

We had a great stay! Rooms were clean, it was a little strange the beds were pushed together but we just had a big “sleepover” haha. All interactions with staff were great. The front desk and luggage concierges are very personable & provided great recommendations. Check in was super easy, we arrived to the city around 10am and they held our luggage all day, no issues. The staff at the bar are A1. They make GREAT drinks & provide great conversation. The breakfast was amazing - I’m so surprised by the variety of options. Usually hotel breakfasts are simple & limited, it’s not always I can have a fresh green salad with my eggs and sausage. I’m happy to see they’re incorporating more gluten free options as well. We went at 8am and yes it was busy but there was no wait for a table or food. Location is perfect - it’s in “Times Square” but off the main strip so less commotion but very easily accessible to many popular locations.

Stayed here from 4th jan til 10th jan, it was a break away to celebrate me turning 40. The hotel upgraded our room for free amd decorated it with a beautiful 40 balloon and banners, I got a card and some chocolates too. On arrival the bell boys took our cases to the room, they were so friendly and always on hand to help. Check in was quick, rooms lovely and clean, shower was really powerful and hot something I really look for on holiday. The breakfast had lots of different varieties of food, better than other hotels ive experienced! There is a lovely little coffee and cake shop within the hotel who served lovely coffee and pastries all day, the hotel bar had the loveliest cocktails too. The hotel was a perfect location to walk 10 mins into all the hussle and bustle of times square but was far enough away if you wanted to relax and not hear a sound. I enjoyed it so much we are going back in november. Honestly can not fault the hotel at all.

Location was outstanding and the hotel was serviced well. Didn't tell me about the free internet, and everything is new York rushed and cramped in. Breakfast was squashed, but delicious enough. Rooms are New York tiny. Sofa bed was adequate, but have to turn the fridge to make it fit and it jams into the desk. No coffee machine or cups until a few days in, but I should have asked, and no hot water (well, only after coffee machine was installed) or microwave. I would stay here for business, not for family. But the location was Excellent! Really handy to be in the thick of it with plenty of places to eat and hang within 5 minutes. Drop and go Laundry mat on the same block is cheap and good! Food everywhere is outstanding for choice. Can walk or subway anywhere from here (or Penn) Would I stay again? Well, work yes on my own as it's trendy and efficient with a great location, but family no... There is no where to just hang as a family other than the foyer or outside (I would pay for the breakfast area to be open to watch the world go by).
