If you are looking for the perfect blend of authentic Cape Verdean charm and modern comfort, Hotel Morabeza is the place to be. We recently returned from a stay here, and it’s easy to see why this is considered the "Grand Dame" of Sal. Why it stands out. Unlike many of the massive, impersonal all-inclusive resorts on the island, Morabeza feels like a private estate. You are right on the edge of the stunning Santa Maria beach, yet also steps away from the town’s vibrant shops and local restaurants. You get the best of both worlds. The staff truly embodies "Morabeza" (the local word for hospitality). They are attentive and warm without being intrusive. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the ocean is a dream. We also highly recommend the Beach Club for a fresh seafood lunch with your toes in the sand. Try to book a room with a sea waking up to the sound of the Atlantic is worth every penny. Don’t miss the live local music in the evenings—the "Morna" performances are hauntingly beautiful. This isn't just a hotel; it’s an experience. If you want a soulful, relaxing, and high-quality getaway in Cape Verde, look no further. We are already planning our return trip.

Best hotel in Sal. We loved our stay. The hotel is very cozy and comfortable. We really felt very safe in the hotel. Like a little oasis. The three pools are stunning and so is the bar and restaurant. We had a big room with a bath. That was really nice. The beach is practically in your backyard. The hotel even arranged activities throughout the day, such as yoga, dance classes and games. The staff is so friendly and welcoming.

Superb peace. Beach beautiful for lunch daily. 😋 own table lunch and dinner daily. Staff delightful , food fantastic. Board walk one side of hotel and main street the other. Trips with Cape Verde experience 1 day on a yacht, tourcaround Island in private car including lemon shark visit. Lovely suite. Great room lady. Entertainment on a daily board with all activities. You can book and join if you like.

We stayed at Hotel Morabeza during the last week of January with our 7‑month‑old baby. The location is excellent — you are literally right next to the beach, and the Beach Club area is a great place to relax and sunbathe. The staff were generally very friendly and attentive, especially Nataniel, the Manager of Evening Service, who was consistently helpful. Our room was clean and housekeeping did a great job throughout our stay. There were a few downsides. One staff member at the Beach Club reception was quite dismissive when I asked to borrow a child seat to feed our baby in the room, which felt unnecessary and unhelpful. Our room’s air conditioning also had a noticeable smell, which wasn’t pleasant. Not a major issue, but worth mentioning. Additionally, the path leading to our room involved steps, which made it a bit inconvenient when using a stroller. Hotel overall is showing it's age... We chose the Half‑Board option, but dinner didn’t work well for us. Dinner starts at 7pm, which is too late when you have a small baby, and there is no kids’ menu. The set menu offers three choices per course, but the quality was hit and miss. It often felt like the kitchen was trying to save costs, for example, “Fruits of the Day” appeared as dessert three days in a row, seemingly repurposed from breakfast. If you stay here, I would honestly recommend booking breakfast only or no meal plan at all, as Santa Maria has many great cafés and restaurants. Just note that without Half‑Board, you may need to pay for sun loungers at the Beach Club. Breakfast was okay but not amazing. The coffee was very poor, which was disappointing if you enjoy a good morning coffee. Pastries were clearly baked from frozen. The fresh fruit and homemade jams were the highlights. The swimming pool itself looked a little dirty, so we didn’t swim there, but the area around the pool was well organised, clean, and had good sun loungers. Cocktails from the pool bar were average, there are better options are available next door at Beach Bar Old Brazil and cheaper! The hotel does offer plenty of entertainment options such as tennis, basketball, snooker, table tennis, and mini golf, though we didn’t use them. Overall, Hotel Morabeza has a fantastic location, friendly staff, and clean rooms, but the dining experience and some service aspects didn’t meet expectations. For us, it’s a solid 3‑star experience. A The price‑quality ratio could be better.

Tired / well established - but delightful, well located 4 star hotel. So pleased we stayed here and that we chose B&B. Nearly all the staff were kind and hospitable. The food at the beach club was enjoyable but our only experience of dinner at Morabeza was the “Traditional Cape Verde Night on a Saturday” - all this proved is that this hotel and its young cadre of chefs are poor at buffets - it was pretty awful but inexpensive enough. A shame. Be aware that next door a huge new Barcello hotel has begun construction and on some days it was noisy and detracting listening to them pile driving and breaking rocks with drills. Lots of restaurants close by in the, initially scary looking town, which very soon you realise is safe as houses. The Brazil beach bar opposite hotel is wonderful and will enchant you with people demonstrating how to have a good time. We’ll come back. Not sure if true but a couple of ex pat’s said that Morabeza pay their staff fairly whereas some of the other big hotels further from town do not.
