The inviting lobby ambience masks a stark reality – the reception service falls far short of a 5-star experience, especially for a guest like me who booked through a third-party website at a discounted rate. While the check-in/out staff shines with helpfulness and courtesy, the overall service felt inconsistent.
The rooms comfortably fit 2 people, but have a small wardrobe and limited luggage space. The building seems quite old, and the blinds wouldn't close properly. Room service didn't address this issue during our stay.
Several issues required room service attention. Upon check-in, the room had an unpleasant odor, and small cockroaches were present near the toilet/shower area. We informed room service, but they only arrived after 3 hours (at midnight) to clean the air conditioning in both rooms. The toilet flush also leaked. We reported this issue at 9am upon leaving for the day, but it wasn't fixed until we returned at 4pm, and only after several follow-ups (around 10pm).
The buffet breakfast offered a decent mix of local Malaysian food, and the service at the restaurant was excellent.
Overall, while the price may be tempting, this property doesn't deliver service close to a 3-star hotel. It's surprising it holds a 5-star rating.

Great location. The pool is nice and rooms are fine. Had a very nice bathtub and extremely spacious bathroom. For today’s traveler, not nearly enough plug points though for 2 people and the usual number of devices that need charging.
Fluffy Story
The internet wifi is terrible, and the tenants are very noisy. On the 14th floor, I continuously hear the commotion from the next room, including banging on walls and doors, which disturbs my nap. The soundproofing is so poor that I can even hear the vibrating ringtone of the phone next door. The bathroom faucet is covered in grime. The sink is a result of shoddy construction, with dirt everywhere. The curtains are filthy, as if they haven't been washed in over ten years. The internet wifi is completely unsuitable for work, constantly disconnecting. If it weren't for the business trip arranged by an oilfield company, I would have changed hotels long ago. But unfortunately, I can't, and I couldn't find another hotel to stay at temporarily. You have no idea how uncomfortable my experience has been in your hotel for the past two days. This hotel is worse than any regular hotel under myr150, and that's a fact!
The food is very delicious and hygienic, but your rooms are really poor.

Not sure how this hotel is rated 5 star, there must be some mistake or wrong evaluation. The ambiance is shoddy, the room furniture is falling apart, in the middle of the night a part of washroom fell off with a bang, the TV was not working, the water was cold and no hot water.
The icing in the cake is that when I spoke about all this to the receptionist during the checkout no apology but attitude of so what.
All traveller's better opt for real 5 star hotel if you are paying that kind of money and enjoy your stay but not at Hotel Maya.

I just checked in but because of odor and molds of room I cancelled. The sheets and towels were in different shade of white. In the washroom the mold behind the vanity was visible. I didn't see any Star in this hotel. The reception weren't nice nor helpful.
