Every member the team are passionate about providing an outstanding level of service and even go beyond what a guest would expect. Not sure EU GDPR regulations advise physically writing down one’s credit card on check in. Digital tokenisation or pre authorisation is far more secure, private and easier to manage. Very surprised to see a LHW hotel using these methods putting guest’s financial information at risk as per previous reviews. Room was decent, comfortable bed, lovely bathrooms and good amenities. Multiple electrical points which take most international plugs. Decent storage, quality safe and 2 housekeeping visits a day. The air conditioning seemed to go off during the middle of the night between 2 and 5am. Service by the sun lounges was a slow, you would have to go to the bar to get service. However the staff were lovely, very friendly and made us feel welcome. On our last day during check out we were notified that our flight had been cancelled. We managed to book an alternative flight the next day and asked reception if they had any room for us. They replied they were full and only had superior rooms at much higher rate . A little dejected we called our travel agent who surprisingly managed to find us a room in the hotel for a significantly better rate which was not what the hotel said was available. We thought the hotel acted in bad faith here, sure enough one needs to make a profit but taking advantage of our situation was poor. The feedback was purely constructive without any expectations or explanations required. Entrusting AI to interpret and respond to feedback is lazy and a major service failure.

UPDATE (June 12, 2024) - hotel credit card FRAUD: A week ago, I’ve written the following review where I’ve mentioned that the hotel has written down my credit card information on a physical piece of paper at check-in and kept it on file. I have not used that card anywhere else since then as it is my “travel card” and only Gran Melia has had access to it. On June 12, 2024, a week after checking out, I’ve experienced credit card fraud when someone, most likely from Gran Melia, attempted to purchase items from an EU website - where I do not live - using my card!!! Beware. ________ I’m giving it two stars because the staff is friendly, the location and property is beautiful, and the food is very good. The rooms are also spacious and have amazing views. However, the staff is mostly incompetent. Starting with the concierge, more than once they booked restaurant reservations only for us to arrive to no booking at the restaurant. One of the restaurant reservations was canceled by the concierge themselves on the day of the reservation. I don’t understand why the concierge is difficult to deal with. At check-in, the staff member who checked us in wrote down my credit card details on a piece of paper and kept it on file. This is extremely unprofessional and it’s a security risk. The housekeeping would not change the used towels, they would simply fold them and put them back on. How disgusting. At checkout I was told I was told I had a redeemable €100 at any of the hotel’s restaurants but somehow was never told at check-in. Why would I not be told earlier? No one helped us with our bags at checkout. The majority of the staff spoke English with difficulty.
