A Wonderful Family Vacation with Exceptional Staff We took our family to Barceló Allegro Playacar for the first time this past December and were extremely pleased with our stay. The staff was consistently happy, friendly, and attentive, going out of their way to make our vacation special—especially for our 2-year-old grandson. We’ve stayed at other Barceló resorts before, but this was our first visit here and it truly stood out. The food was perfect for a large group, with great buffet variety and enjoyable restaurants—especially the Italian restaurant. We loved the beach activities, including catamarans, corn hole, and ladder ball. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and conveniently located near both the pool and the beach. While smaller than other Barceló resorts we’ve stayed at, the excellent AC and cleanliness more than made up for it. A special thank you to Alejandro Mis, who served us at lunch daily and always greeted us with a smile (and ice cream!), and to Gerson Arco for being so kind to our family in the evenings. Housekeeping was also outstanding. We made wonderful family memories and truly appreciate the resort and its amazing staff for such a memorable family vacation. We hope to return again!

The Good: Exceptional Staff The staff at Hotel Allegro truly made our stay memorable. From check-in to departure, every team member we encountered was incredibly friendly, warm, and genuinely hospitable. Their attentiveness and positive attitude stood out, and it’s clear the hotel invests in creating a welcoming culture. This was by far the highlight of our experience. The Disappointing: Service Animal Policy Unfortunately, we encountered a significant issue with the hotel’s service animal policy. Despite having a legitimate service animal and the property having adequate space to accommodate dogs, the hotel refused entry. This was not only disappointing but also deeply distressing for our family. Hotels should be aware of and compliant with service animal regulations, and this experience fell well short of expectations. The Concerning: Food Quality & Health While the food was acceptable in taste, we had serious concerns about quality and variety. Five members of my family experienced food poisoning during the first few days of our stay, which significantly impacted our vacation. Additionally, the menu was heavily dominated by fried and high-fat options with limited healthy alternatives. For guests with dietary preferences or restrictions, this could be challenging. Overall Verdict: The wonderful staff couldn’t fully compensate for the service animal refusal and food safety issues we experienced. While I appreciate the hospitality and friendliness of the team, the other concerns—particularly the health-related issues; make it difficult to recommend this property without reservation. I hope management addresses these areas for future guests.

I was nervous about my first all-inclusive experience, but this was amazing! High highly recommend!! I was extra worried about the food but the daily buffet was so good! No complaints and i’m a foodie! Alcohol is cheap but plentiful, rooms were clean and service was so great! For a budget hotel, location, service, food, amenities were amazing. 10/10 recommend

This is our 1st stay at an all inclusive resort. Came with some friends that have been to a bunch. They said this is in the bottom 2 they have visited. Drinks are good but very few waiters so have to get drinks yourself. Was without water one day and no hot water. Do not expect a good room cleaning without a decent tip. My wife and I tipped $10 our first day and have had ample waters and wash cloths every day. While our friends that tipped $5 they have to get toilet paper from us. Which has gave us some laughs. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. I writing this while standing in line to get reservations for the Italian restaurant. Spend the extra 30 a night to stay somewhere much nicer is the advice I have gotten!

They've created a mini paradise down here. @ $250+/- a night in January 2026 is a great value for an all inclusive! Rooms we're air conditioned and great for a private moment and sleep. Hammocks on the porch are common and the 2 pool complexes have their own vibe with the bar side pool being more adult themed and the bridged pool being more mixed use. The shore access is exceptional. I've included a couple videos and which one showcases a typical sunrise less than 100 ft from my bed (did not have the deluxe suite)
