HL Paradise Island Hotel

We've just returned from a seven night stay and we were delighted with our holiday experience. The rooms were suitable and the hotel team kindly honoured our request of are whole party (three rooms in total) being located next to each other. We arrived at Paradise Island at 11PM. After a long day of travelling, the warm welcome from Cedric was greatly appreciated (along with his sense of humour too!) and having a selection of food waiting for us and our fellow late arrivers was a real bonus too. The food throughout our stay was a huge positive with a wide variety of options availble throughout the whole stay and sensible meal time windows allowed for flexibility on when we ate. The pool and water park kept adults and children alike entertained and the daily, complimentary bus into town every day offered a great opportunity to explore Playa Blanca (although the majority of the time I chose to walk as it's only 20 to 30 minutes). An area of potential improvment is the arcade options and pool tables. Whilst these were seen to entertain many children, the majority of these are dated, espectially the cloth on the pool tables. The location of the hotel was favourable to allow for a climb of Mount Roja. It was with a very heavy heart when the time came to check-out, we would have happily extended our stay! We have just come back from 10 nights here. I wouldn’t worry too much about the negative reviews. We found the hotel to offer great value for money. The food was excellent with loads of choice. There was food, snacks and drinks available pretty much all day and night. The rooms were serviced every day. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The entertainment was very good. The on site pools and water park were great. It is also in a good location around 1km from the beach front. The only downside was that some of it needs modernising maybe, but nothing of major concern. The play park also needs a bit of a refurb. But all in all a very good place to go on holiday that I would highly recommend.

Having seen some of the reviews here, I was slightly apprehensive of our stay at HL Paradise Island. I needn't have been, we had a brilliant time. The hotel is nice. It needs a little bit of upkeep but it's still very pleasant. We stayed with three kids (7, 5 and 2) and they had the time of their little lives - the pools are great (yes, it's February, the water is cold!) but there is so much to do! There is a good variety of food at the all inclusive and the quality of the food is much better than I expected. The Asian cuisine is a particular highlight! The staff are great and the kids loved the mini disco each evening. Overall, a great stay and great value for money. We will be back! 😄

Don’t get deceived by the advertised photos of rooms and restaurant. It’s far from reality. Cockroaches could be seen on the floor even in lounge near reception. Family with young kids were given disability room for no reason. Rooms were filthy with damaged furniture and foul smell. Bathroom had a window with see-through glass with not blinds. Wash basin was blocked. Air-con stooped working as rainwater leaked through walls on the floor at night. After two days of relentless struggle we were finally given another room that was relatively better. Another two families traveled with us had same issues but were instead given option to move out and take refund for remaining days. Manager lady tried her best to work with resources to resolve issues but other Receptionist Lindsey and Yurina were rude and made fun of guests on their back. They gave excuses that there were short on staff and were very busy hence rooms were not cleaned and towels couldn’t be replaced daily. Instead of being apologetic for poor service and inconvenience caused, Lindsey had attitude as if she was doing favour on guests. Cedric profiled guests based on their ethnic background and accordingly allocated rooms with known issues, expecting guests to live with it. Lot of things to improve for this HL(Hotel Lopez) property.

Room smelled of paint when we arrive as if it had only been done couple of days before. Doors and table in very bad condition. No lock on the bathroom door and would not fully close due to damage. Smell of sewage in bathroom due to a loose drain cover. No electric when we arrive had to ask reception to get sorted. The tallest water slides were closed. Most of staff were nice but one bar lady always seemed miserable. Reception told us all drinks at bar free but loads are not(including slushies). The soft drinks are poor quality. There is a good selection of food in the restaurant but quality is mixed. The whole place is very tired and needs massive renovation. It seems to be run on a shoe string and I feel sorry for the staff. While we were there apartments were being painted. Maybe ours was only half finished and rented out prematurely.
