Hamiltons Tented Camp

I do not recommend, overpriced for the safari set up. We were at Hamilton tented camp for 3 nights. On internet it is advertised as a private game reserve of approximately 10 k hectares. We ended up doing half of our drives in Kruger public part crowded with private tourist vehicles. The reason to go public side was that the guides were saying there was a lot less animals on their private side. It is not the experience you expect at this price point. On the public side, it is not possible to off-road when you see an animal. It highly impacts the quality of your sightings and for me it is the main reason to pay the high price of the private lodges. We also couldn’t off-road on the private side. As a result we had 2 leopards sightings of 3-5 seconds each and weren’t able to follow to view them longer. This poor game drive set up is the same at their 3 lodges Imbali, Hoya hoya and Hamilton tented camp. Our fist guide was also not great with communication of trying to find and stop for animals that interested us and we requested to change. He also drove the exact same road twice 2 days in a row when there was other options we told him we were interested to see. The second one, Hali, did a great job. It is the reason I put 2 stars instead of 1. The lodge, room and food were good. Our problems was with the game drive dynamic for the price we paid. Also a few items were not 5 star level, for example the placemat and tissue napkin were stained and looked unclean at every single meal. The alcohol selection included is very limited. We were in contact with management to request to leave 1 day earlier and get a refund as we felt we didn’t get the experience we were sold. The camp was also almost empty so it is not like the lost a sale. They were not accommodating at all

A true treasure in the middle of Kruger Nationalpark. We only stayed for one night, but we could experience the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the lodge. A big thank you to the chef for the delicious vegetarian food. We enjoyed our stay very much!

The best experience!! The place is beautiful… the people so warm and welcoming and the game drives- are just simple amazing! An unforgettable experience! Came back home with memories for a lifetime!! The staff here is just simply amazing! They really take personal care of you and ensure you are safe, happy and well fed :)

Most amazing 3 night experience! We arrived last week for a 3 night stay at Hamilton's tented camp and were absolutely amazed by the camp and the experience we had. (the pictures we saw online do not show how truly amazing it really is). Our tent had it all, a private pool, great shower and bathtub with view over the river. We even had our personal Hippo (we called him Henry) who was chilling in the river in front of our pool. The staff was very welcoming and were quick to know what we liked. We felt like we were surrounded by family. The food was delicious with plenty of options for each meal. Our driver (Salani) was equally amazing, he showed us everything and did not mind stopping for extra pictures. the breaks during the safari were also a highlight, from morning coffee with Amarula to the beautiful sunsets with gin & tonics.. we had it all! We were very sad to leave, especially after the staff performed a goodbye dance for us. If I could rate this place it would be 10 stars but sadly it only goes to 5. I would definitely recommend this camp to everyone and we will surely come back here.

Hamilton’s is one in a million. This was our first trip to Africa from the states. Hamiltons was recommended to us from someone who stayed there over 15 years ago. It was absolutely beautiful. From the warm smiles, beautiful surroundings and amazing accommodations I will definitely recommend and return again. The whole staff was amazing. Suitboy was our guide and tracker. His goal daily was to find animals we had not seen the day before. He went out of his way to make it happen and he has an amazing eye- the things he would see on our evening drives had us shaking our heads as to how he could see the animals that well in the dark.
