Mixed Feelings – Nice Hotel but Not Great Value for Money First impressions were good — a nice, clean reception area, perhaps a little dated, but perfectly acceptable. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite in the Privilege section, which was a lovely room and a great start to our stay. A bed is a bed to me (perhaps not to my wife!), but overall the room itself was very nice. However, it did begin to feel like the upgraded room may have been smoothing over some of the hotel’s shortcomings. We stayed half board, as we couldn’t justify the extra £90 per night for drinks. That said, when you’re paying €2.80 for a 500ml bottle of water and €11.90 for a gin and tonic, you quickly realise they’ll find their margin somewhere. At those prices, I personally expect everything to be fully functional and well maintained. I understand this isn’t marketed as a 5-star hotel, but in many ways they are charging 5-star prices. Unfortunately, several maintenance issues were noticeable: •   Three out of four pool tables were not working •   Broken tiles/slabs around the pool area •   Pool tiles missing and sitting on the pool floor •   What appeared to be a waterfall feature not working, left with stagnant, muddy water containing live larvae •   Decorative water fountains running but filled with algae The buffet food was good — if you arrived early. Go later and dishes tended to be dry and cold. We didn’t try the à la carte restaurant, so can’t comment on that. In truth, we found ourselves looking forward to eating out in the evenings. One highlight was the piano bar after dinner, which we really enjoyed for a final drink. We were travelling as a group with three rooms. While we were fortunate to receive an upgrade, the other rooms were not — and one in particular was very dated. Notably, none of the website photos show this style of room décor, which felt misleading. When we raised some of these concerns with customer services, we were met with a surprisingly defensive attitude. My brother-in-law was even told that he was wrong about the website photos, and the matter became unnecessarily argumentative. A small goodwill gesture — even a credit to the bar tab — would likely have resolved things amicably, but instead the defensive approach left a sour taste. Don’t get me wrong — it is a nice hotel. It’s just tired in areas and, in our opinion, not good value for money when compared to other hotels in the same price bracket. We’ve stayed in both 3-star and 5-star hotels across more than 20 countries, so we feel we have a fair basis for comparison. This is the first time I’ve felt the need to write a slightly negative review, which is disappointing in itself.

Hotel location was excellent!! Everything I could have needed was within walking distance. The staff was amazing, very professional, and friendly. The only thing was there were no tea kettle or coffee in the room. Having a morning tea or coffee on that great balcony would have been perfect. Otherwise, the bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. I would certainly stay at this property again.

First it’s important for me to thank the team of waiters in the buffet section, especially Esau, as they made the experience way more enjoyable. Now for the review, the hotel itself is super pretty with a super impressive main hall giving a beautiful view on the seafront, every member of the staff is nice to you and will treat you with respect (so be nice to them if you go there yourself), the access to the rooms is well thought, if you go to hotels like this all the time it’s simple, you get a bracelet that serves as a credit card and you pay at the end of your stay (checkout) the bracelet is used to open the door to your room, we slept in the lateral sea view which gave a beautiful view on the seafront as well. The food was amazing (congrats to the cooking team) and I wasn’t sick a single day, they have high standard when it comes to hygiene so you might think it’s weird to say that but it’s important for me. The evelators look super cool 🤙🏻 there are lots of things you can book from the hotel itself so it’s very practical when you’re short of activities to do, if I had to say ONE negative thing (it’s not that bad) there is no underground private parking, you park on the road in front of on the side of the hotel, why am I being picky ? Because we had a rental car and if you scratch it you need to pay, so be very careful when parking there. Overall near perfect experience, would recommend and would come back just for Esau my man 🤙🏻 I FORGOT ONE IMPORTANT THING FOR SPORTIVE PEOPLE LIKE ME, the gym is unfortunately horrible, it’s really for a desperate workout, you’ll have to go to a gym in town to actually workout, they have a leg curl/extension, dumbbell that go up to 17.5KG a cable machine that’s almost broken and has 3 attachments. Had to mention it sorry 😅

Overall, meh. Booking half board for breakfast and dinner was absolutely not worth, awful choice most nights can only find one or two things in a whole buffet that’s actually edible. Staff were generally friendly. Lots of whiney guests that seem to be trying to find reasons to complain. Overall decent hotel, but absolutely not worth it for the price you pay.

We were so looking forward to this but it was the noisiest, most overpriced hotel I've ever stayed in. We spent a considerable amount of money hoping for a bit of relaxation, and ended up leaving feeling worse than when we arrived. I'll list the main issues below: 1- noise: slamming and constant noise in corridors began at around 6am. Drilling and construction work began at 8am and at 8.45am someone knocked on door and entered the room, presumably to clean, while we were trying to sleep. It seemed like poor acoustics were amplifying the noise. Didn't have one night of decent sleep and left feeling less well-rested than when we arrived. 2- facilities: you have to pay an extra fee for the sauna, which we found extraordinary in light of how much they already charge just for staying at the hotel. I've stayed at many other hotels elsewhere in Europe which were much nicer overall, less expensive, and did not think to charge customers and extra fee for this facility. The infinity pool area also gets crowded very quickly. We ended up spending most of our time away from the hotel in the fishing village 3- rooms: they are worn-down with chipped furniture. The room we stayed in was not consistent with the usual standard of a 4-star hotel, which this claims to be. No kettle or coffee-making facilities. Credit where due, the bed was at least clean. 4- breakfast: the staff on the ground clearly all work hard, and there's a lot of choice for breakfast, but none of it was very nice. Better to focus on doing one or two things well, rather than trying to do everything. The pastries were stale and the coffee was really unpleasant. We aren't picky - just a relatively quiet, reasonably priced room would do - but this was the least relaxing hotel I've ever stayed in and I felt we wasted a lot of money staying here. I notice from the other reviews that other customers have been making them aware of the noise issue for ages and they keep apologising, but it's still not been fixed. La Caleta is beautiful, but we'll never come back to this hotel
