If you’re looking for a resort actually at the beach in Sanur, this is as good of a hotel as any. The rooms are nice and spacious and the team is very friendly. This hotel actually has beach loungers at the beach, unlike several other hotels along the Sanur beach. The beach itself is best earlier in the day when the tide is high. You don’t need water shoes but I’d recommend them if you want to walk along the sea grass at low tide. The boardwalk is always very active and great for a morning stroll. Plenty of nice restaurants nearby The hotel could improve on service at the beach as people coming to see if you wanted anything was quite sporadic. Also the breakfast buffet is a bit sad. The egg station never disappointed but the coffee is rough and very limited offerings across the board.

Our first visit to Bali and the Griya Santrian. The hotel has a very friendly feel and beautiful location on the beach front. I loved watching people jogging or cycling along the pedestrian area at breakfast. The staff are very attentive and I loved getting up early and watching them take their time cleaning and preparing for the day. Nothing was too much trouble. The gardens and pools are clean and beautiful. You can choose garden or beach views. We were only bed and breakfast but we did eat a couple of times there in the evening. Breakfast was great, but I felt as a vegetarian there were only a few options for evening meals. There were some activities at the hotel and we enjoyed learning and making a prayer offering. However the yoga was only offered on 1 day which unfortunately we were out so missed it. We had a treatment in the spa which was amazing. We felt it would have been nice to have had more entertainment offered in the evening. The Balinese evening was only on by weekly so we missed it. That said we would definitely recommend the Griya for its relaxed vibe, great service and beautiful surroundings. We would love to visit again.

Beautiful grounds. Rooms were great to accommodate two people although the bathrooms are so dark it's hard to see in the mirror. Absolutely loved the location. Breakfast was delicious and the location lends itself to walking distance around Sanur.

We stayed at the Griya Santrian in 2014 so decided to go back to Sanur as long as we could get back in at the Griya. The resort is situated in a great location in Sanur with plenty of whatever you need within walking distance, whether it be along the beach or the main road. The staff are super friendly, the rooms were cleaned beautifully each day, the pool so lovely and warm (I can't do cold pools) and the breakfast provided had enough options for most (we like authentic cuisine for breakfast 😊) so it was a great start to the day each morning (the Yellow Chicken Curry was amazing!). A point to note at the moment is that renovations are in progress in certain sections of the resort during the day which we were informed of when we arrived. As we advised the staff, it didn't bother us as we normally spend all day out exploring and/or temperature testing the beer at various outlets so it wasn't a problem for us 😊 We loved our stay and we'd stay at the Griya Santrian again in a heartbeat. We absolutely love coming to Griya Santrian. The resort has a lovely feel to it, more traditional in style, is clean and the staff are very accomodating. We found their breakfast to be good but the quality of the food in the restaurant for lunch/dinner has gone down. The pool bar is a big plus and their cocktails are excellent. This year though, I’m not sure I recommend staying until they’ve completed their renovations. They advised us renovations won’t be complete for another year. Renovations are 9am to 5pm every day, including weekends. Once even after hours. Please see the videos. We were only told of the renovations about 2 weeks before our stay and it was suggested that they wouldn’t inconvenience our stay much. I disagree with this a bit. They chose to do renovation work next to the front pool and the middle pools at the same time, so there is no part of the resort to get away from the noise, except the beachfront. The front pool was better than the middle pools as the construction was more intermittent at the front. For the cost of accomodation and as a standard expected, they really shouldn’t be doing renovations at multiple points throughout the resort and should have informed guests earlier with the option of changing accomodation. Overall though we still enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming again once the renovations are finished.
