Hotel is located on the west side of the island which favors calm waters with the hotel having direct beach access which was really great. Rooms are very spacious but could use a little upgrading, except for the bed which was the best nights sleep I've had. The property could use some maintenance and upgrading as well. I was disappointed that one of the restaurants closed for dinner without prior notification to the guests which limited menu availability and one restaurant available to eat on property. Luckily there are several excellent restaurants within walking and driving distance. The pool is small but accommodates the hotel nicely. Security around the hotel is also noticeable which was nice to see. Taxis and drivers are available at the hotel whenever you need which is convenient. Staff is very pleasant and helpful with excursions and dinner reservations as needed.

The Fairmont Barbados is on a beautiful beach and location is great for a tranquil vacation. The hotel is pretty with pink walls and pretty fountains and landscape. The landscaping needs cleaning and some plants were dry but overall it was nice. At night it’s pretty with all the lighting. The nightly sunset views from the bar restaurant are gorgeous and they have live music. The food at the hotel is not the best. It’s ok tasting. For the prices charged (specially the $175 lunch buffet) the food is not that good. The service is also OK. Some staff are great and we looked around for the special staff that we knew would assist best. The rest of the staff definitely need some “Fairmont corporate training”. Overall the rooms were very pretty. We had the bottom floor upgrade room with a little balcony. I am not sure how the upstairs rooms look. Our balcony bottom floor was nice and very clean and nicely decorated and updated bathroom. The fridge did not work. They gave us free waters all the time and I really appreciated that. The balcony does not open to the beach. Would be great if you could just walk out your balcony to the beach. You have to go around the resort to the back in order to access the beach. The breakfast food was pretty good. A lot of fruits and hot plates. The drinks were pretty good overall. Some staff bring them out to the beach but you have to hunt them down for that to happen. Overall, if I came back to Barbados, I would stay at the Fairmont again but with adjusted expectations.

The hotel was very dated and does not justify a 5 star rating nor the associated pricing. My suggestion is spend a few extra dollars and stay in Sandy Lane. We went to that property and you can see the difference immediately. Unfortunately, the Fairmont needs a lot of updating and the staff has to be begged to provide service. It seems like they don’t want to be there or perhaps underpaid and lack training in hospitality. Lastly, the food quality is poor and the prices are not commensurate to the quality.

Not the 5-Star Experience I Expected I don’t typically write reviews, and I’m not a demanding traveler by any means—I’m actually very considerate and kind to hospitality staff. That said, my experience at the Fairmont Barbados did not meet the expectations of a five-star resort. While the property itself has charm and potential, there are several areas that left me disappointed. Most notably, the attitude of the staff was disheartening. On multiple occasions, the service felt indifferent at best, and at worst, as though the employees were unhappy to be there. There was a noticeable lack of warmth and attentiveness, which really impacted the overall experience. One especially unpleasant encounter was with a beach server named Jason, who was rude and dismissive—definitely not the kind of interaction you expect while on vacation. The butler service was a bright spot and helped bring a sense of ease to our stay. But beyond that, we often felt on our own. Service at the restaurants and bars was very slow, and more than once we had to walk up to the bar to retrieve our own drinks. Even when staff saw us doing this, there was no acknowledgment or apology. The hotel itself could benefit from some upgrades and renovations. Our lanai area, while lovely in concept, lacked privacy, with employees and guests regularly passing by and having conversations within earshot—and view—of our room. The beachfront seating directly outside the room was a nice touch, but beach access was awkward and not as seamless as you’d hope. My main concern, however, was the overall treatment we received. At a resort of this caliber, guests should feel cared for and valued. Unfortunately, we did not. I hope the hotel considers additional staff training in hospitality and guest relations, because the service experience is what truly defines a luxury stay—and in this case, it fell short.

We had a wonderful experience, the room although older was well appointed and comfortable the only thing I would have changed was new softer sheets! The sheets were not comfortable they felt more like muslim not a high thread count. We loved the people who worked there, Tia was our first contact and she was fabulous. Nicole with our beach drinks, Dawn our butler, Tony the driver, everyone we came accross was delightful!!!!!!
