My stay at Excellence Riviera Cancun was absolutely amazing from start to finish. From the moment I arrived, every member of the staff was incredibly kind, warm, and welcoming, always going out of their way to make sure my stay was perfect. The level of service truly made this resort stand out. The entertainment team was phenomenal and brought so much energy and fun to the resort every single day. A special shoutout to Adrian, who was outstanding—his enthusiasm, friendliness, and ability to engage guests made the experience even more memorable. The food was also excellent, with a wide variety of high-quality options that were consistently delicious across all the restaurants. Overall, this was an unforgettable experience, and I can’t recommend Excellence Riviera Cancun enough. I’m already looking forward to coming back!

This was my first resort experience and I am happy! The resort is beautiful, clean, and artfully landscaped. The room is spacious and their A/C system works well (although the weather was so nice I preferred to just keep the sliding door open). There were a lot of fun activities: Alfredo made the 'Functional Training' class fun (a miracle, right?), and Elizeo at 'Rifles' and Mark at 'Archery' and 'Feeling Riviera Bike Excursion' were funny and cheerful, even under the blazing sun. Thank you to the many other staff members who helped us feel welcome and pampered throughout our stay! Some of the food was better than others. I hope they improve the stale tortilla chips situation. I think if you are expecting fancy restaurant food at every turn, your expectations will be dashed. However, it's also not $1000/night (like Ritz Carlton) or $20 vegan yogurt (also like Ritz Carlton); the cost to value ratio is commensurate. Some favourites: 'cheese cream' soup at Chez Isabelle is SO DECADENT I still think of it fondly and regret I did not have another, croquettes at Flavour Market, watermelon tiradito at The Grill, tuna carpaccio at The Lobster House, the pico de gallo (mmmMMM those tomatoes!), the fish carpaccio and bread pudding at the buffet, and octopus was always succulent. I loved the Teppanyaki experience (has to be booked); everything was delicious and I got to meet a real life teppanyaki ninja, Gerardo, who really made our night! The beach is gorgeous, with the grass umbrellas providing ample shade for lounging. I've seen a few people complain about the water not being clean or clear enough, but it felt fine to me. I'm from BC, where the water is mostly cold and dark all year, so it is particularly amazing to be able to spend hours in the warm, salty sea and walk barefoot on the soft sand. We took a snorkeling excursion and it's easy to get to super clear water from the resort. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and it provided the effortless, relaxing escape we were looking for! My family and I stayed at the Excellence Rivera Cancun for a short week in November, and I have to say our stay was phenominal! The staff are so sweet and the amenities were incredible. The beach is so clean and well-maintained. Poolside was relaxing and the service was great, servers were attentive and easygoing. Food was also fantastic, like a very nice tasting menu with many many options. I also wanted to shout out the resident tennis coach, expert and former professional Alex. We booked a private session with him, as well as a group session. He is very charismatic and truly helpful! Within one session I was able to pick back up to my former intermediate level. He loves what he does, and that shows through his coaching, his communication and his attitude! Highly recommend this stay.

Overall: 6-night stay (Dec 10–16). Non-Club. At 85% capacity. Having stayed at EPM in 2015/16, ERC feels well-run with great food and service, but the aging rooms and AC issues are a clear weak point compared to EPM a decade ago. ROOM (Jr Suite Pool View, 6129): The most disappointing aspect. Our view faced a neighboring apartment complex rather than the resort. At 20+ years old, the room shows wear: loose outlets, crooked shades, and non-working lights. The biggest issue is the AC; it cooled to 69°F but failed to dehumidify, leaving the room musty and sticky. Following advice from others, I requested a dehumidifier. The staff delivered one quickly, but I had to empty the tank 4x daily, and humidity never dropped below 65%. For a 5-star resort at $400+/night, this needs addressing. FOOD: Consistently "fine" to "excellent," though portions are smaller than remembered. Highlights: The Wednesday Mayan menu at Agave (by the Beloved chef) was superb. The Spice Teppanyaki experience was entertaining and very filling (book in advance!). Chez Isabelle’s filet, escargot, and 12-layer cake were standouts. Lowlights: Basmati was a favorite at EPM but was lower-tier here; the chicken samosas were dry/odd. Breakfast at The Kitchen Table was faster and more varied than Lobster House—the Nutella crepes are a must. DRINKS: Uniformly great with solid spirits like Appleton Estate and Beefeater. Try the Playa Blanca or Hemingway Mojito. Aroma’s iced coffee is delicious but sweet. GROUNDS & BEACH: The grounds are impeccably maintained—kudos to the maintenance staff constantly working on upkeep. The beach has powdery sand with no rocks/shells. Sargassum was well-managed during our stay with no smell. POOLS: We loved the lazy river by the spa; we never had an issue finding a palapa there. The "chair game" was prevalent at the main "party" pool. Temperatures were perfectly refreshing (approx. 79°F). STAFF & ENTERTAINMENT: Staff are warm, attentive, and excellent. Shows were fun—Pure Energy and the Claudia Trevino trio were highlights. Direct airport transfers via Seasons Transfers were seamless.

We just spent 4 nights at Excellence for a nice relaxing trip and it was incredible! We loved all the activities (beach volleyball, biking tour to puerto Morelos, pickleball, etc) and all the staff members were very kind and attentive! Mark led our bike tour and the aqua fit dance classes and was very cheerful and energetic! Arturo was also wonderful and helped up to our room on the first night with great service! There was also a Mexican party/show/dinner on the Friday of the week we were here and the service/food/entertainment were 10/10!! We would definitely choose to come here again!
