Essque Zalu Zanzibar isn't just a hotel, it's a picturesque escape. Every corner of the hotel is tastefully designed and blended in well with the nature's setting. From the moment we arrived, we were given a warm 'Zalu' greeting that set the tone for an amazing stay. The service throughout my visit was exceptional. The staff was attentive, proactive, and genuinely seemed to care about making our experience unforgettable. The buffet spread was interesting with a good mix of local food. They went out of their way to cater to our dietary requirements as well. The rooms were clean, comfortable and cozy. The well kept gardens surrounding our rooms contributed to a truly relaxing atmosphere. Speaking of relaxation, the saltwater pool with the view was pure bliss, and the refreshing cocktails from the bar were the perfect way to unwind. With the kind of view from the jetty restaurant and the path leading to it, one can easily spend all day and night there. The Baraka natural aquarium (where you can swim with turtles) is just 200m away from this place. There are other beaches around as well for which the hotel provides regular shuttles. Positives : Hospitality of all the staff, right from the top ;cleanliness and upkeep; the view ;swimming pool; food and cocktails Negatives : Staff are really warm and attentive, you'd hate to check out and keep wanting to extend your stay

First of all: we had a great vacation, but it took a bit of flexibility… 😂 We booked a villa at the seafront which was worth the extra money, the atmosphere in the evenings was magnificent. The hotel itself is a bit rundown, some repairs are certainly overdue. Food is good, but not more. Hard to understand why you can’t get really fresh fish on an island… The staff is very friendly, but would benefit from training (and motivation). The spa is recommendable and the gym a well kept secret 😂

Listen to the other reviewers... They're scammers. They charge imaginary surcharges, do out of the record money exchange with no real rates, or bill, or anything. It's a 5 star hotel for God's sake! The rooms are large, but old, the housekeeping enters the room multiple times a day(?) but every day we needed to call for some missing item (water/towels/shower gel etc.), I really didn't understand the need to come that offen, because I don't really understand what they are doing. At the end we had a bill of over 850 dollars and they wanted to overcharge us 4 percent for card payment!!! Just on a calculator, nothing official. Or to give them euro instead... That's a difference of 70 dollars, it's simply theft. I am honestly thinking that management is training all the employees to scam the tourists. Some of them are very nice, but the service overall is incredibly slow. Also, the pool is very dirty and it looks nothing like a 5 star accommodation. The lack of beach is a real problem, and there is literally nothing to do after 10 PM, everything is closed and empty, I really don't recommend this place.

The most beautiful hotel. Literally breathtaking views. Very clean and the best staff!! Thank you to the general manger and Solomon for making us feel welcomed. Food was delicious also.

We enjoyed our stay by all means. The service is on point at all times, rooms get cleaned everyday once or even twice. It is very safe with a lot of security. The waiters are super friendly and attentive. Dinner and breakfast buffet included in price with a lot of variety for all tastes. Location is not bad at all, approx 10-15 min from centre walking. The ocean view suite is great, very comfortable big beds, big and spacious bathroom with bath robes and all accessories. Smart TV and mini fridge etc. All you need at a very good price!
