After all the hype, we were genuinely disappointed. Checked in around 2pm but the room was not available which is fine as official check in is 3pm. We went to the pool to wait for the room, assured that somebody would call as soon as it was ready. I waited till 3:40pm before I called THEM and was informed that it was ready. I asked if the room was as requested (no feather bedding, extra bed) and was informed that they’d check with housekeeping and call back. I waited and waited then eventually decided to go back to reception to see what was going on. We received the key around 5:20pm, only because I was chasing reception. Had I not chased it, I have no idea what time we’d have received it. Shortly after getting into the room, a bottle of wine arrived. Nice gesture but none of us had plans to drink so it was worthless to us. I’d have appreciated a heartfelt apology from a manager more than a bottle of wine. I will have to mention that the room was beautiful, the staff were friendly and the breakfast was top quality. We didn’t stay for dinner as I didn’t feel like dropping another couple of thousand dirhams on a meal at the hotel when we’d experienced such questionable service up to that point. We ate in a lovely restaurant in a neighbouring hotel. We stayed for the experience, it just didn’t end up being the experience we’d expected.

⭐️ 2 out of 5 We’ve stayed at Emirates Palace three times now — it’s a place close to our hearts, as I proposed to my wife here ten years ago. We came back hoping for the same magic, but since the change to Mandarin Oriental, it just isn’t the same. The staff are wonderful, service is excellent, and the restaurants are great — no fault there. But the room situation is appalling. We’re a family of four, and the booking system allowed us to reserve a room for all of us. Yet at check-in, we were told it “wasn’t suitable for four guests” and were offered an “upgrade” for over £4,500 extra for the week. We now have one child on a roll-in bed and another (3 years old) sleeping on a curved sofa that isn’t even a sofa bed — totally unsafe and unacceptable for a hotel of this calibre. We’ve stayed in Zighy Bay, Four Seasons, Anantara, St Regis — and never been told to pay thousands more or share a bed with our child. The palace is still beautiful, but families booking here should be cautious — confirm room suitability before you book, or you may find yourself paying premium prices for a disappointing setup. I also want to add something I initially hesitated to mention. We are British Indians, born and raised in the UK. During this stay, I couldn’t help but feel that who we are may not have worked in our favour. I sincerely hope I am wrong — but as returning guests who have always spoken highly of this hotel, the way our situation has been handled has left us questioning whether we were treated with the same regard as other guests in similar circumstances. It’s a difficult thing to write, but it’s important for management to hear. Every guest, regardless of background, deserves to feel equally valued — especially at a property of this calibre.

⭐ Visitor Experience (not an overnight guest) I only stopped by for coffee, so this review is about the experience as a visitor. The Mandarin is undeniably grandiose — architecture, scale, and atmosphere when you walk in all feel impressive. Security and staff were professional from start to finish. It’s worth a visit if you enjoy exploring luxury interiors and want to get a feel for the place. That said, the coffee was disappointing (below par for the price, which is of course high in a hotel like this). The café itself had no real vibe — few seats, not much atmosphere. In reality, you’re paying ~10€ for the chance to sit, look around, and take in the space like a mini-excursion. You’ll get a glimpse of the art room and the grand scale of the hotel, which some might find worth it. ✅ Summary: Come if you want to experience the grandeur and architecture, but don’t expect a great coffee or cozy café vibe. Think of the price as an entry ticket more than a cup of coffee. ✨ Final note: What stood out most was the professionalism — from security at the entrance to the staff inside, every interaction was courteous and polished. A glimpse of Arabic hospitality at its finest, even for a short visit.

Decided to spend a few nights here and it did not disappoint! Yes it's expensive but the resort is stunning. Breakfast and late check out was included so that was a plus. This is a very perfect stay for families as there are so many activities for kids. The spa was my highlight, such wonderful staff and the hammam was worth it!

A fabulous week here, so very relaxing with 100% perfect service. I will review the restaurants separately, but need to mention the highlights. First time at a Japanese style, but thanks to our lovely Irish hostess it was a great experience. We saved the Lebanese till our last night and wow! The food was just what this guy loved, and Redouane's service was so welcoming. The other people worth mentioning are the guys at the front entrance, the front desk ( a Vietnamese girl to book us in as my wife is Viet was a lovely touch) all the security officers, particularly Franklin and all the hosts. There were a couple of issues, at breakfast and housekeeping, but the managers personally met us to apologise and rectify. I think the way issues are dealt with is the sign of a quality establishment. And finally, our week here was made so very special by one particular person. Every night we finished our day with a visit to Episodes. Here my wife would try different teas, and I would have a cheeky pint. The welcome and friendliness of Hipolito made us look forward to our nightcap and is probably the standout reason we will recommend coming here.
