We enjoyed so many things during our stay at El Dorado Royale! Every night we had dinner at a different restaurant and the food was great each time. There were also lots of lunch options around the resort, and we loved ordering room service for breakfast most mornings and enjoying it in the room. This resort offers SO many activities that are included. Some of our favorites were the cooking classes, snorkeling, catamarans, tequila tastings, kayaking, paddleboards, and wave runners. Maroma Beach is absolutely beautiful and has a delicious lunch buffet. There is also nightly entertainment and even a fun Mexican festival with a mariachi band and dancers every Tuesday evening. We loved that the property also has an animal rescue and a cenote, plus tennis and pickleball courts—and so much more. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the pools are amazing (many with swim-up bars), and the staff throughout the resort were very friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and very well kept. The resort is very large and can be a little hard to navigate at first, but once you figure out that the golf cart shuttle path is different from the main beachfront path, it becomes much easier to get around. Overall we had a wonderful trip and there was always something fun to do or a beautiful place to relax.

We had the best time! All staff were very friendly and willing to help us if we needed it. The food was exceptional at all dinners as well as the buffet. I had read reviews before going to the resort that the food wasn't good and hard to find something close to their rooms, and I have to disagree. Amazing food and can always get something! Very flavorful! If you want the best steak ever, go to the Spot Restaurant and order the beef filet. Oh my gosh, so tender, cut with a butter knife, and flavorful! We didn't use room service. Rooms were cleaned every day and maids were sweet. Rooms could use a little update but there was nothing wrong with them. Also read it was hard to get a shuttle but we never had any problem. Do expect to walk a lot, if you don't take the shuttles, because restaurants are a ways from some of the rooms. Not having a beach to walk on near the water was probably the only drawback but since they still had a beach with sand above the ocean, it was no problem for us. Loved this resort and would go back again!

We had a wonderful stay! Jaime made everything super special for us. Jazz was also very kind and answered any questions we had. Angela was super great bringing us drinks right to our swim out room. We didn’t expect that, but she showed up every day with a smile and a cold drink. Our expectations were blown away by the quality of, consistent service of, and friendliness of each and every staff we interacted with. Stay here and you won’t be disappointed!

We travelled to this resort last year for 10 days and loved it. The food was great and fresh, service was good, and we loved the very lush grounds for walking. We found everyone extremely helpful except for the front desk. The Maroma excursion was excellent, and what an amazing buffet. Our only disappointment was the room, while the location was good the room was not what we expected based on the website - it was quite dark and tired, but always clean. We are heading back there in April, so fingers crossed it’s as good as we remember and our rooms look like the site pictures. Will let you know!

A lovely resort hotel with beautiful gardens which were immaculately maintained. Plenty of space to escape the crowds and a pleasing variety of restauants to sample. Externally the buildings appeared well maintained. However the bedrooms were very dated, furniture was old, lighting could have been brighter. Many of the sun loungers on the beach were also old and uncomfortable. Staff were generally courteous, cheerful and helpful. Check in was very slow and we were not given a full explanation of what facilities we were able to use or areas that were off limits. For example we only discovered during our stay at Dorado Royale that certain loungers and pools such as those near the Casitas were not supposed to be used. This was not explained at check in nor on the maps. Navigation of the resort could have been made easier if restaurants and bars had signs identifying their names. Similarly a lable on each of the desks in the main lobby describing the role each had would make finding the right person to speak to easier. Attention to customer's potential food allergies was admirable however exceedingly repetitive. As all evening meals had to be prebooked and reservation details were held at the restauant surely it would simpler if the question relating to allergies was asked by the concierge, recorded and notified to the restaurant along with the booking information.
