It was my first time in the area and in an all-inclusive resort. The resort was beautiful and the grounds are definitely 5 stars. The staff as well were a delight and very friendly. Room service food was mediocre and one night they didn’t deliver what I ordered. Food overall was good. It would have been nice if there was a 24 hour ‘store’ for a quick snack instead of trying to get into a restaurant for some thing to eat.

Overall I felt the staff was overwhelmed. I entered the property and bag check was normal and the staff was pleasant there. There is a lot of staff trying to sell another trip offering discounts (but not really). Let me preference this by saying I booked through a booking agent because it was my sister wedding. So it was surprising to know I had to leave $500 hold on my credit card. Now that I put on the booking agent not the hotel as this should've been disclose. I was able to get my room at 2:15pm. I forgot to say that I arrived at 10am. Waiting for a room is normal. My sister (the bride) ask if my room was ready and she was handed my card. Walked into the room and overall a bit outdated however good to stay in the room for a few days. Then I notice the safe was broken. I mean broken, it didn't work. I was willing to just let it go and just figure out something else. I was tired and went to take a shower and then realize there's no towels. Just hand towels. Got upset, put on some clothes and went to the front desk because they wasn't answering. The staff in the front apologize and said she will get maintenance over as well as house keeping for the towels. That was around 3pm. I called at 4pm and finally they picked up. The maintenance finally showed up at 4:30pm. Housekeeping showed up at 5pm. There's so much but this is what i can get out without getting out.

Very clean, great food and drinks, everyone was very friendly and helpful. I loved the easy drive from the airport. Luis at the spot bar was the best bartender by far. I loved and highly recommend the catamaran tour that is included with the stay. This resort has more of a cenote/rainforest setting than a beach vibe because of all of the pools everywhere and the beach was very rocky with few access points to swim. The resort is huge so there are golf carts to transport people everywhere so be prepared to jump out of the path if you like to walk. My only minor complaint is how important dinner reservations were. I would have liked to eat casually when I was ready.

I can't say enough about the amazing staff at this resort, simply top notch!
Rooms are great but they definitely need some attention. Our entire stay the hand held shower head would not stay put and sprayed everywhere if you didn't pay attention. This was reported several times, I am hoping they fixed it AFTER our stay
After you get used to the size of the resort it is not so bad but it is a huge spread out place. Cart service is available which helps.
In our 7 days we didn't have one day that the water at the beach was even walkable. That was our bad luck and not the resorts fault.

We had an excellent time. Large group of 12 and everyone was very happy. We kept busy as the pkg we had at the resort offers "included" excursions. The Maroma beach at their sister resort was worth the visit. Short bus ride, sand is the finest we've seen, large beach, lots of available chairs and the service and food at the restaurant was exceptional. The Royale beach is pretty but not friendly for swimming, so this excursion is great. We visited twice, once for just the beach and the other for the catamaran.
Many available restaurants at Royale, there is not a dinner buffet available so you do need to make dinner reservations. We found it easy to do, limited to 6 per table so we doubled when all 12 wanted to be together. The concierge helped us when we struggled. There is a place for pizza at the large pool if you do not make your reservation. We saw people get in to dinner early without a reservation. We found the food to be very good. Like all places, perhaps some dishes not to a personal liking.
The resort grounds are mature, pretty and well taken care of. Not many areas for shade at the pool. Like all resorts, getting chairs requires an early visit with towels and a personal item. Lots of towels! I liked that you didn't have to check them in and out with your room number. We did rent the Cabana bed twice, $50, as it was nice to have a place for 12 people to put their stuff and shaded area.
Rooms were very nice, we had requests for maintenance completed timely. Room safe stopped working, needed light bulbs and maintenance helped us unlock our suitcases. Reported but not fixed was the shower drain was slow. However, we had no issues with hot water.
The resort is HUGE, so a lot of walking but there are also carts that you can catch for transportation. We flagged them down as we walked versus waiting at the designated spots. Never had an issue.
We will be going back next year, usually like to try new places but 6 of us agreed we'd go again to have the opportunity to visit restaurants we didn't this time.
The Fuentes dinner show was worth the cost. A "food Network" like experience, all 12 of us cleaned our plates and were entertained.
Was everything perfect, no, hasn't been anywhere we've gone. The service was great, staff was attentive and accommodating. It is a very enjoyable and relaxing resort!
