We just got back from a week at this resort, and the experience was quite variable. First the good parts: Rooms were fine, nothing special but clean and well maintained. Pools were great! Lots of them and adequate lounge chairs. The beach was beautiful, water was clean. Not a lot of seaweed. The restaurants were good for the most part. Service staff were mostly great (waiters, bartenders, housekeeping). Bartenders at the swim-up bars were especially fun and helpful. However, my mom who was with us got food poisoning on the thirds day of our trip and spent the rest of the trip in the washroom. She was bad enough that I had to call the hotel doctor to come and check on her (at our cost, of course, $435 USD). The doctor was good though, and mom has since recovered. And when she was sick, my first stop was the on-site pharmacy. The person there (obviously not a pharmacist) recommended a medication to prevent vomiting, which I bought for $43 USD for a small box. When I got to the room I googled it, and it turned out to be for vertigo, which was clearly not the issue. And later the doctor said not to use that medication as it wouldn't help (and had disturbing side effects). So I tried to return it, and of course, they wouldn't take it back. The service at the pharmacy was very disappointing. Also, one person on our trip has Celiac disease. And while there was usually something she could eat at each restaurant, the options were pretty sad. Even the tortillas were made of wheat, which isn't very authentic Mexican. And the Asian restaurant had nothing, they use a soy sauce that contains wheat. So there were no options there. The buffet had one little corner with Gluten Free food. All they would need to do is add the logos they have at the sit-down restaurants to the labels at the buffet, and her life would have been significantly better. Overall, as long as you don't have any health issues while you are there you will probably have a great time. But if you do, watch out. And stay away from the pharmacy, it's nothing more than a cash grab.

This is a long one, but it’s honest and accurate. I am NOT this resort’s normal clientele - I came to this resort as a solo traveler expecting a luxurious getaway. What I got was the appearance of luxury, but not the experience. THE GOOD: Resort Grounds - The resort is stunning. Landscaping is beautiful, the grounds are easy to navigate, and the pools are the perfect temperature all day long. There are plenty of chairs, towels, and bars to make it easy to not have to move much if you don’t want to. Rooms - I had a single queen room with a garden view. The room was well appointed, the bed was clean and comfortable, and there were plenty of towels which came in handy when using the balcony’s jacuzzi tub. Most hotel rooms come equipped with an iron, but this resort stocks them with steamers which made getting those suitcase wrinkles out quick and painless. Room was spacious, clean, and the A/C works great. THE BAD: Restaurants - There’s plenty of variety and the food is decent, but it’s nothing to write home about. The service at the restaurants left a lot to be desired. It was not uncommon to have an empty glass and wait at least 10 minutes for a refill. Housekeeping - The resort has a red and green light system to alert housekeeping to your needs. When you arrive, they explain how it works, the housekeeping hours, and tout that the in-room mini bar is refilled twice daily. I left my room from 9am-2pm with the housekeeping light on green, and my room was never touched, nor was the mini bar refilled. Room Service - The room service is abysmal. On Friday night, I put in an order and waited an hour for them to confirm it. After messaging the room service staff and receiving no response, I ended up messaging the concierge. Concierge took care of it after about 15 minutes, and I got a message from Room Service that my order would be delivered in 50-55 minutes. On Saturday night, I put in another order at 9pm for delivery at 11pm. From 9pm to 11pm, the order sat in the app as “pending”. Finally at 11:15pm or so, I started messaging the room service staff but got not response. After 15-20 minutes of waiting, I messaged the concierge. After 15-20 minutes of waiting for them to respond (did not get a response), I picked up the phone and called Room Service. I had ordered a hamburger, and was told that they were out of hamburgers. It took almost 3 hours and multiple messages to multiple parties for someone to acknowledge my order and ultimately let me know that they were out of what I ordered. During the time I was there, the rate for the nightly stay was advertised at $1100 USD/night. The service is definitely not worth it.

I read reviews on this resort and thought the location would be great. The location was great, the resort itself is relatively nice. All the staff were incredibly kind. Our room was very musty, perhaps mold I smelled. Was incredibly disappointed to find out that our group of 14 (6 adults, 8 kids under 8) could not sit together at dinner. Even with early reservations. We discovered that we were required to pay an extra few hundred dollars to sit at tables next to one another. Also could not “sleep in” on the trip and pool/beach chair holding began at 5am. If we wanted chairs, someone had to be up early to grab them. The preferred club didn’t offer up any special perks imo that you absolutely needed or could find yourself. My spa massage was stellar, 5* for that. The food and drinks were 1* imo. I was over the food and drinks on day two.

I really have nothing bad to say about this resort. The staff are very friendly! They make you feel like you are welcome there. the buffet was good, and the à la cartes were better than we expected! Nice pools, great beach. nice rooms. Kids loved the waterpark, and the hot tubs! We ended up switching to a different resort for the last three nights of our trip and we all agreed that we preferred Dreams.

Honestly we had a good stay. I did a lot of research before going here for my best friend’s wedding. I get anxious about traveling, so I read every bad review on google. It was me & my husband’s first time leaving the states. We just recently went January 10th-January 14th. The resort is beautiful! We ate at Fusion, Maris, the Australian Steak house, & the world cafe. All good food. It was not the most amazing food I’ve ever tasted, but was definitely decent & we were satisfied. Definitely recommend breakfast at the world cafe the most. My best friend’s wedding was gorgeous, but there were a few hiccups. They completely messed up her seating chart for her reception. People were not sat in the correct places. The arrangements were gorgeous though & the DJ was awesome! We danced all night. Her wedding coordinator, Erika, was nice & informative. Unfortunately, one of the bridesmaid’s & her husband’s room was literally given away the day of the wedding, even though they were staying for another day. Random people were given access to their room. These people literally entered the bridesmaid’s & her husband’s room. Luckily they were honest people and did not take anything. They returned to the front desk and explained people are still staying in that room because all their belongings are in there. When the resort gave access to these random people on a different key card, it shut off the bridesmaid’s key card so her & her husband had difficulty getting back into their room. IMO this is unacceptable & a huge safety issue. The resort apologized but did not offer any kind of compensation for this huge & avoidable mistake. Long story short lock up your valuables! & do not be too trusting. There is a lot of scams going on here. Be smart. Avoid the offered welcome breakfast/lunch. They’re apparently trying to sell you a vacation package & get angry if you say no. Also, our transportation, Amstar, sent us a letter the day after we arrived saying we had to meet them in the lobby that day or they were going to cancel our transportation back to the airport- which had already been confirmed & paid for. Did not appreciate that. We did go and confirm the transportation, but then they attempted to sell us an excursion. Just put your foot down and say no because there is a lot of pushiness. The service was good & drinks were great, but we did tip a lot. If you tip, you get better service. We did not get food poisoning. I was worried about this due to previous reviews. Mosquitos were not as bad as I thought they were going to be. I only got bit twice and did not religiously wear bug spray. If I had to go to Mexico again, I would go here because it’s now familiar, but I don’t think I would go out of my way to come back . Another plus- the resort gifted us champagne & cake because my birthday was upcoming. The most important thing though is we were safe the whole time & did enjoy ourselves!
