I’m giving this a 3 star as I felt there was a miss for the resort as a whole to be a 5 star resort. The rooms in general are clean and nice, the resort is small and very limited in the amount of activities to do. After 4 days, had pretty much seen it all. The bar staff seemed to be annoyed when asked for drinks and weren’t the best, while I had some of the waiting staff that were really great. Shout out to Pedro who was one of the best waiting staff that we had during our stay. We were invited from a member at the member rate but this required us to go through a sales meeting. We agreed to this commitment and they originally told us this would last 90 minutes, but when we started they changed this to 120-180 minutes. When we complained they threatened to charge us a penalty. We found this to be a huge sour point in our vacation. The location is not close by. We flew into Punta Cana as flights weren’t available to La Romana which required an hour+ drive to get to the location. Also, the maximum we were able to walk on the beach was about 1km so if you want to walk around, note this is very limited. The resort is very quiet, other than the shows they put at night there isn’t much going on after 11pm. Not sure why but we heard many people including some of us, got stomach issues from either food poisoning. We noticed that some water bottles that were given to us by staff were not sealed properly and the burgers at the beach grill seemed to be undercooked.

We stayed at the Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa with my girlfriends family and were blown away by how amazing the experience was. Miguel and his team ensured our stay was comfortable and had the chef accommodate all of my girlfriends dietary requirements to a tee (vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, corn-free). All the managers (William, Julio and Jairo), waitstaff and chefs at the Coastal Grill took such great care to detail when serving for us, and the hostess was always very kind and welcoming. Rooms were clean and cozy, and the restaurants were all delicious.

This is a really amazing resort. The staff are always smiling and very welcoming, the rooms are clean and feel quite luxurious, and the food is good. The beach and pools are absolutely incredible. I highly recommend this hotel! We will come back very soon! Thank you for your care.

Overall Experience: I would not return to Dreams La Romana by Hyatt. Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1.2/5) Positive Aspects: • Cabana #19 is ideally located and offers the best access to the pool area. • The children’s pool was excellent for my kids (ages 2 and 7). It was shallow, comfortably warm, and pleasantly uncrowded, particularly around dinner time. • Victoria at the spa was exceptional. She braided my 2-year-old’s hair with remarkable kindness and patience. • The poolside cooler service was a thoughtful feature — stocked with soft drinks, water, champagne, and beer that remained chilled throughout the day. • The Hurricane cocktail at the bar was outstanding and highly recommended. • The buffet staff were truly wonderful. They greeted our family warmly each day, showed genuine kindness to our children, and even went out of their way to celebrate my son’s birthday. Their hospitality stood out as one of the few highlights of our stay. • The Noor and Coastal Grill restaurants were the best dining experiences on the property, offering quality food and attentive service that far exceeded other venues. Areas for Improvement: • The hot dogs and burgers at the beach shack were disappointing, though the French fries were a highlight. • There are serious concerns regarding food safety. A member of our party became severely ill, and the hotel’s response was dismissive and unhelpful. • The front desk staff provided limited information about on-site activities and events. It required three days and multiple requests before we received the pickleball and daily event schedules. • The timeshare presentation was misleading. While the presenter was courteous, the promised incentives — a complimentary pool cabana and a $100 resort credit — were never honored. The situation escalated to the involvement of hotel security and local authorities. Guests should exercise caution and decline participation if not genuinely interested. While there were a few bright moments that we will cherish — particularly thanks to the kind buffet staff and enjoyable dining at Noor and Coastal Grill — the overall experience did not meet expectations for a Hyatt property. The combination of poor communication, unaddressed food safety issues, and unfulfilled promises made our stay disappointing.

Tl;Dr: amazing beach, unusable wifi. Pros: smaller walkable distance, we stayed in building 62 which was in the middle of everything, comfortable room with good pillows/bed/humidity level, good food, able to find chairs by the pool/beach, beach is seaweed free Cons: unusable wifi, older facilities, coco cafe doesn't know how to make a frozen chocolate or matcha and refuses to use their blender for anything (my first time where an all inclusive resort just straight out said no to anything, luckily we were able to get the bartenders to make our chocolate drink). Spa steam room was broken, "relaxation lounge" was just a couple of chairs and the same snacks and tea as the cafe, pools were dirty, and we got 15 minutes less of our massage but they comp-ed us to make up for it which is nice of them. 3 days in a week, there were vendors hassling us to buy things in the middle of the resort every time we walked past back to our room, which was really annoying. Our tv sound also turned on by itself one night at 2:32am which was really creepy. Our first stay was at dreams Macao Punta cana and we thought it was better, even though the beach was really rough there with waves
