Disney’s Contemporary Resort offers a unique stay defined by its iconic A-frame architecture and unparalleled proximity to Magic Kingdom. As the only resort where the monorail passes directly through the main building, it provides a high level of convenience for transportation. It is also the only hotel within a short, ten-minute walking distance of the Magic Kingdom entrance, which is a significant advantage for those wanting to avoid bus or boat lines. The guest rooms were recently updated with an "Incredibles" theme, featuring mid-century modern furniture and subtle superhero accents. These rooms are among the largest standard accommodations on Disney property, often including two queen beds and a daybed. While the main tower rooms offer balconies with views of either Bay Lake or the Magic Kingdom fireworks, the Garden Wing rooms provide a more budget-friendly entry point, though they lack balconies and require a longer walk to the main building. Dining is a major highlight of the resort. Options range from the lively character breakfast at Chef Mickey’s to the upscale California Grill on the top floor, which offers panoramic views of the park. Steakhouse 71 has also become a popular choice for its high-quality menu at a more accessible price point. The main drawback is the atmosphere, which can feel busy and loud due to the open-air concourse and the constant movement of the monorail and crowds. Additionally, the pool area is relatively simple compared to the themed water features found at other deluxe resorts like the Polynesian or Beach Club. For guests who prioritize ease of access to Magic Kingdom and modern amenities, the Contemporary should be a top choice.

We loved our stay at the Contemporary Hotel. Room was spacious and well suited to 3 Adults. We loved the access to the monorail and whilst busy at times we never waited long. You just need to remember that it is the last stop. We ended up walking to Magic Kingdom as this was much quicker. The quick room check-in through the app is great, but we may have missed some welcome information especially as this was our first visit. It was fantastic to be able to checkout on the app. We loved the luggage transfer between Disney hotels but would have been better if the automatically sent your bag to your room. Facilities are fantastic. We would absolutely stay here again.

There’s a lot to love about the Contemporary Resort — first on the list is the proximity to Magic Kingdom. It was amazing to be able to walk back and forth from the park. We also enjoyed the pool and it was never busy when we were there. There are a variety of food options which was helpful. It was also fantastic to be able to watch fireworks from the balcony each night. The resort on the whole feels a little tired and the rooms are not super spacious or particularly cute/well done. But on the whole, the positives outweighed any negatives.

Only went to the character Chef Mickey's breakfast. I can not rate the rooms. We did valet parking and left the car there for the day as we visited the MK. A very expensive ok, adequate breakfast but for the children it was magical. Service was good at the breakfast. Characters do a good job with the kids, but they don't linger. They will spend enough time to let everyone get pictures and they are off. That said the lobby and public area feel dated and not very contemporary. Maybe in 1971 this was contemporary but not 2025. Still cool to sit and eat watching a monorail roll silently through the building. It was fine, just bring money.

Our family of 4 stayed two days at The Coronado Hotel and 2 at Contemporary recently. The stay at Coronado was a pleasant experience. The room, amenities and service exceeded our expectations. It was busy but didn’t seem too congested and lines were manageable. Only negative might be the longish walk from the room to the main areas to eat and shop. That can be fixed with a little research finding rooms closer. On the other hand, staying at the contemporary was not a great experience. You would think with such a high price tag it would be better. Not in the least. The room was just above the main area downstairs, which includes the bar, and it was loud. We could also hear a lot of noise coming from room above throughout the evening and early morning hours. Make sure you pick a room in the higher floors for sure. Secondly, the rain water pooled on the deck and wouldn’t drain. We needed house keeping to clear the next day. The monorail had a long wait all the time and the place was crowded seeming all the time. It would have a much better experience if we stayed at the Coronado all 4 days!!!
