We were able to stay for free on Marriott points - nice surprise in the room typed we booked, a suite, there was a half bath inside the door! The extra sitting space and padded headboard made for a very quiet stay. Great room/spaces overall. We planned this trip specifically to stay close in the area as it's a big off the main action. The front desk staff was great as was security. Our key wouldn't work in the elevator one trip up and the line for the front desk was Long. Security asked what elevator we tried - turns out what gives them trouble sometimes - she helped us try another elevator and walked us to our room to make sure the key worked - very accommodating!

Beautiful hotel but definitely not 5 stars. Pro's: - Beautiful decor - Super clean rooms - Comfy beds - Easy access to the Mandalay Bay mall with tons of shops/restaurants - On the south end of the strip. Pro for the quiet, but con I guess if you are wanting a shorter trip to the high energy part of the strip. Con's: - As others reported, check in is a NIGHTMARE. I'm at a loss as to how the check in process can possibly take so long. This coupled with the fact that there is rarely more than 1 person at the front desk, means you will stand in line for 30-60 minutes even if there's only 1-2 people in front of you. We eventually aborted the line and downloaded the MGM app (there's a little sign at the far end of the check in desk that describes this option as a way to skip the line with mobile check in via the app). We heard guests complaining at the desk about the wait and the front desk person encouraged the guest to include that in a review which makes me think that the staff are as annoyed by the situation as guests are. - I called room service to see if I could get a set of silverware sent to the room so we could eat some food we purchased outside of the hotel. I was told that this would cost $2.50 plus a $9 service fee. For disposable silverware. Talk about taking advantage of guests. - At times there is a water station set up in the lobby (cucumber and lemon water in dispensers). But those disappear at different points during the day and the only way to get water (without paying for a water at a coffee shop) is to make the 10-minute walk to the convention center where they have airport-style water dispensers in the hallways. Just silly.

I stayed at the W Hotel Las Vegas and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the room itself was very nice. I had a sizeable suite with good separation between the living and sleeping areas, which made it comfortable for both work and rest. The location was also convenient to the Mandalay Bay area and noticeably quieter than staying directly at Mandalay Bay, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the service issue completely outweighs the positives and is the reason I would not return. I checked out at 5 AM and accidentally left a charger and charging cable on the nightstand, items that cost over $100. I called the property at 8 AM the same morning, well before housekeeping would reasonably have cleaned the room, specifically to retrieve the items and arrange shipment back to me. After being directed to Lost and Found, I was routed into an automated system with no ability to speak to a live person thereafter. I was later told the items could not be located. Given the timing, the fact that I was the sole occupant, and that I described exactly where the items were left, that explanation is simply not credible. Housekeeping found and kept my property. What makes this worse is that I left a generous tip on the table before I checked out. Between the lack of accountability, the inability to reach a human being, and the loss of my belongings, this experience left a very poor impression. A nice room does not make up for that level of service failure.

The beds were very comfortable and the room itself was nice, but it could have been a little more modern and up to par with other W Hotels. Some of the furniture looked rough — the office chair looked like it had been through a bar fight, and the mini fridge they brought us (which they mentioned they usually charge for) looked like it was beaten with a baseball bat. The Bathhouse spa was completely booked up during our stay, so we didn’t get to experience that part. Also worth noting that there’s no separate pool for W guests — everyone shares the Mandalay Bay pool, which was absolutely packed with kids. It felt more like a crowded water park than a relaxing hotel pool. The lounge chairs were practically touching, and the whole area could’ve been much more spacious. I get that it’s Vegas, but it really feels like you’re being nickel-and-dimed for everything. There’s no microwave, and the in-room fridge can’t be used because it’s full of drinks you’ll be charged for if you move anything. We bought a bottle of wine downstairs and asked for a wine key — turns out it would be $14 for the key and $9 to bring it to the room, and they couldn’t even open it for us at the bar. The constant nickel-and-diming cheapened the experience and made it feel a lot less luxurious than it should have been. Service was also below average — staff didn’t seem to have much of a sense for hospitality or friendly service, which is disappointing for a W Hotel. Comfortable stay overall, but definitely not the best value or experience compared to other W properties. Pretty ironic for a hotel whose room phone says “Whatever, Whenever.”

I recently stayed at the W Hotel. I travel for a living. I fortunately didn’t have to go to any other bar other than the one located in the lobby of the hotel. This was due to the bartender there, Jared from this W hotel lobby bar is one amazing person. A natural salesman… I believe he works for mandalay Bay. I want to make sure this guy gets the credit he deserves. He is more than incredible at his job. From me watching him remembering other people’s names, speaking different languages, knowing others drink orders off hand. The things, the guy knows about his job and everything else, it’s on another level of impressive. He’s a really smart guy. His knowledge, experience, ability and level of bartering is above the quality I expect of the W hotel brand. They are lucky to have him around. I’m saying this having stayed at W hotel’s all around the world. I’m usually lazy and wouldn’t bother to write a review but I absolutely had to make the effort to make this experience known. The fact is this is an above and beyond member of your organization. He needs to be called out. I spent several hours at this bar over a few days time and watched him over and over remember a lot of different customers and their names and their stories and their orders, and was blown away and impressed by his skills as a bartender, as well as a salesman of the craft, and just a genuinely good person. We had an opportunity to chat about work, hobbies, and life. When I’m out on the road for work I can only wish to be in such good company at the hotel I’m staying in. This is an incredible person of such good quality who is also as I understand a family man of kids and a wife, all of which I appreciate even more. I just want him to get all of the credit he deserves, for all the work he does and puts in to a business that I hope has the wherewithal to appreciate him. Anyone looking for a great evening in Las Vegas just seek out jarad at the W hotel bar. Thanks bro, next time we’ll do shots of the Louis xIII together. Andrew.
