Andrei Petrescu
I did a one-day trip to Tobago from Trinidad and needed a nice spot to hang out before my afternoon flight back. The closest public beach to Crown Point airport is only about 4 minutes walking distance, but right next to it is Coco Reef Resort & Spa, and choosing that was honestly an amazing decision. The beach itself looked really good: clean sand, beautiful clear turquoise water that stayed calm and was perfect for swimming. They had plenty of chairs and loungers set up under the palms, outdoor showers to rinse off the salt and sand, easy access to toilets, and a beach restaurant/bar area just steps away where you could grab drinks, snacks, or a proper meal without having to leave the beach. Everything felt well-organized and made it super easy to just relax and chill for the day. The vibe was calm and laid-back, exactly what I needed for a short stopover. If you're in the same situation (quick day in Tobago near the airport), this place is definitely worth it. Made my short visit feel like a proper mini-vacation!

I was extremely excited to introduce my BFF to Tobago for the first time. The initial person that was supposed to pick us up from the airport had an attitude (Onika)She didn’t have a sign that said our names nor did she have a sign saying CocoReef. I had to call the resort to ask who I should be looking for. Once we found her she said my first name and then pointed to a white van and said Go that way. Never a Welcome to Tobago not even a Good Afternoon. We got to the resort and finally the guy at the front desk welcomed us to the island and resort. Once we got to our room we realized EVERYTHING was old, outdated and below the level of expectation for the cost of the room. The TV was so old it had 3 working channels. We couldn’t even pair our phones to it to allow some other form of entertainment . The breakfast and staff in the dining hall was fantastic. The beach was absolutely beautiful. The beach towels had holes and showed signs of bleach stains. We asked if they could give us wash cloths for the room and was informed they didn’t have any/offer that, I was taken back by this being that it’s 2025. The property needs better lighting once the sun goes down, especially since you’re literally footsteps away from off ground entertainment/food. The darkness doesn’t make you feel safe, the saving grace in that way is knowing that you soon have to pass the guards booth ( they were friendly). We called front desk to ask for an extra pillow and was informed that house keeping has gone for the night and they would leave a note for them to bring the next day (it was 730pm). The next day I called again to ask for the pillow around noon and was told they would bring it later. Around 7pm I called again the front desk and was told that house keeping is gone for the day, but if I wanted I could walk to the front desk to get it. I refused to go there because If that was an option why wasn’t it offered the night before when we called. The guy then told me I would have to wait an hour when his supervisor comes back from dinner break. They finally brought the pillows 15 mins later with an attitude I guess because I didn’t want to come to the front desk to retrieve it. At check out we realized now they are looking to charge for a transportation ride to the airport. Which should have already been included. To make matters worse the driver was the same woman from before. She had an attitude I thanked her for the ride and she didn’t even respond after I paid her. These folks that you have representing Coco Reef left a terrible taste in my mouth. I would NEVER recommend this resort to anyone. They will never get another dime of my hard earned Money. If your facilities are so old and ancient then at least let the customer service be warm and welcoming.

This place is absolutely ridiculous. For about $400 US a night, I expect more. Loading my issues below: 1) the room looks dilapidated. It’s very old, has streak of something brown/orange dripping down the wall, the bed is lob sided, the mattress is old and stained, and every time the housekeeping came to clean the room, a whole new set of mosquitos came into the room (that I had to spend time killing almost everyday). 2) the food, apart from breakfast, was terrible. It was frozen food across the board, and we had to eat it everyday unless we wanted to leave the hotel to get more food. Then the dinner was atrocious. For our anniversary dinner, we ordered crab cake as an appetizer and red snapper for the entree. I’ve never in my life eaten something as vile as that crab cake. I’ve had crab cakes 100s of times in my life, but I don’t know how to explain what this was. The best I could imagine, it was crab from a can but charge expensive restaurant prices. I would have preferred imitation crab. My wife said it was canned tuna, but I like canned tuna. I couldn’t even swallow this crab thing and had to spit it out. We also eat snapper a lot. And this was definitely not snapper. It was some frozen fish. And they did nothing to make it right after I told them I couldn’t eat the crab. Why would I want canned and frozen seafood while on an island. 3) the WiFi is cripplingly slow. To upload or download anything in 4K is impossible. HD took hours. Live steaming was a disaster. Most of the time was spent waiting for WiFi to connect instead of doing what you wanted to do. 4) upon arrival, I was told late check out was contingent upon if the room was available. Other “nice” hotels can tell you clearly if late checkout is available or not. We were there for 6 days, so I waited. 2 days before we left, I checked and they said it’s available but they still can’t give it to me. I’m a planner by nature and need to know what I’m doing. So fine I patiently waited, and the night before they still would not commit. So I don’t know if we need to pack the night before or can wait till the next day. So finally the morning of my checkout, on New Year’s Day, I woke up early after being out late the night before, to call the front desk for them to tell me the room is available, but I need to come to the front desk before the original check out time. This is very inconvenient, and for the money we were paying, it should have been like this. I woke up, brushed my teeth and got ready. I got to the front desk only for them to tell me I could have waited for checkout to pay the extra charges - as I requested while on the phone with them. This place is messed up.

Extremely overpriced rooms that haven’t been renovated in over 20 years. The ACs don’t work properly, the hot water isn’t hot, the service is sub par. The breakfast is nice though. The car park is horrid. The best part about this stay is the calm relaxing beachfront availability, it’s like your own calm private beach with your own personal space to go swim with the fishes. However, being one of the most expensive places to stay in Tobago, you have to ask yourself if it’s worth it.

Check-in: in 2025, Guests are required to fill out a paper form & write your credit card # for incidentals or pay cash deposit. Room keys won’t let you in before 3pm sharp Room: Rattan furniture with years of dust in crevices, hard water blocked up the shower head, shower tub really small Beach: hoping the green specks in the water are seaweed & not waste(cuz there was a smell) Beach towels : old rags Pool: closed Hallway of shops: Sewer/Dead Seaweed smell I’m not sure who the target market is for Coco Reef It’s outdated. check-in , Towel and Food policies are inconvenient. Crown Point is half the price and the rooms are nicer. I wouldn’t say service is better in either one but the price is fair
