I prefer not to write a negative review of any business, but after staying in this hotel, I feel compelled to share my experience. Our wedding was in the Dominican Republic many years ago and it was unforgettable. Since then, we decided to come back and celebrate our anniversary in this beautiful country from time to time. Unfortunately, we chose the wrong hotel this time (Hotel Catalonia Royal Bávaro). We booked a special room with early check-in, late check-out based on availability, champagne upon arrival with chocolate and fruits, and other benefits. However, things did not go as planned. We arrived early, and the room was not ready, which was understandable. However, even after our regular check-in time, the room was still not prepared. After spending an hour at the front desk, we finally checked in. To our surprise, instead of champagne, chocolate, and fruits, the room was full of ashes and smelled like a cigar shop. The manager asked us to clean the room again, and we agreed. After a few more hours at the beach, we returned to a room that was as expected (thanks to the manager who was very nice). The rest of the days were great. On the day of our anniversary, we had a fantastic dinner at the beach with excellent service and food. However, another surprise awaited us. When we returned to the room, neither of our keys worked. I went to the front desk, and the receptionist said I had to pay for the room to get in (even though I had given my credit card at check-in). I only had my phone with me, and for some reason, Apple Pay didn’t work. The front desk representative then sent me back with a coworker to my room so I could pay with an actual card. To my surprise, the coworker didn’t take the card to open the room. We had to return to the lobby, get the card from the room, and go back to the room. When he finally opened the room, it was decorated with rose petals, but unfortunately, the romantic gesture was lost as we had to enter the room before him. I hope this information helps you make your decision.

All inclusive hotel should make the trip as much easier as possible. But here we had to constantly make reservations to be able to have dinner, Italian restaurant served undercooked food (salmon and pizza, also I had to return my plate with raw omelet). The prices here for anything essential is over the roof (we had to pay 10 dollars for a lighter and 45 dollars for sunscreen). Also, all our purchases got double charged, because we paid in the store, but at the checkout they made us pay again in order to leave the hotel. Scam, dissatisfaction and will never come back here again. Great location, some personnel is good, but they all working for tips and only after you put a dollar on the table-they will give you a good service.

My husband surprised me with our 15 year’s anniversary at this resort for three nights. DR customer service it TOP notch, thank you @Sandra, Jazmin, Anderson and Victor for the exceptional service at the TAO K restaurant. Definitely coming back with the rest of the familia.

This hotel was a great experience overall! The food in all the restaurants was great and Alexis and Anderson at Tao Cat were great severs! I really enjoyed this resort. I stayed in a Duplex Suite and it worth the price. Highly recommend!!

Anderson was great - as a host he was fantastic, made a few friendly jokes and service was great! Food itself was okay, as most of the a la cartes, however within this review I’d like to point out Andersons service and the entire staffs great service etiquette. Well done!
