From start to finish, my stay at Grecotel Sounio was incredible. The staff were friendly and attentive, making me feel truly welcome. The rooms were comfortable and well-maintained, and the food was delicious with great variety. The beach and pool areas were beautiful and perfect for relaxation. Plus, being so close to the Poseidon Temple at Sounio made exploring easy and unforgettable. And those sunsets—absolutely breathtaking.

Superb! We are a family of 4 and stayed in connecting rooms with a view of the Temple. The rooms and beds are comfortable and quiet. Our hostess at arrival, Artemis, was exceptional. She offered us drinks, introduced us to the resort, and booked transportation to see the sunset at the Temple of Poseidon (35 Euros and the driver waits for 1 hour). Our daughters enjoyed time at the pool and raved about the service. The food was excellent. Every aspect of the stay was perfect, and pictures do not do justice to the view!

This place was a perfect 10 out of 10. A rarity that I had never given to any place that I’ve ever stayed. Their customer service was exceptional. The rooms were great prices for the experience that we got out of stay. My only regret is that we didn’t stay here longer. But, will definitely be coming back and staying much longer next time. The rooms and area are stunning. 5 minute walk to the beach. About a 10 minute drive to the Temple of Poseidon which is highly recommended for sunset. They also arranged transportation to and from the temple. Super friendly and always greeted with a smile. I’ve traveled to many places and the customer service is top tier! It elevated our experience in Greece and our expectations for anywhere else. I did have a better review written. But, when I went to upload the photos of our stay, the page refreshed and lost everything I had originally written. I can’t wait to visit this place again and for longer. My partner & I are still shocked at how amazing it was.

We had high hopes for this hotel based on its 5-star claim, a 9.0 rating online, and a price tag of €6000 for 6 nights. What we experienced, however, was one of the most disappointing and frustrating hotel stays we’ve ever had — or rather, attempted to have. After traveling overnight with a 4-year-old child and waiting in 32°C heat for 3 hours to check in, we were met with a room that was just horrific: 1) The room was dirty, with visible stains on the furniture, a grimy shower drain, and a child bed guard that was absolutely unhygienic. 2) The room appearance were completely different from the photos and description we saw online. It felt like a bait-and-switch. On the photos there were modern, clean, tidy and aesthetic rooms, while in reality - dirty shower, stained sofa bed, scratched bed corners, staines and bubbles on the furniture, insects everywhere. 3) The so-called “extra bed” for our child was just a stained dirty sofa. The only “solution” offered was to replace the filthy sofa with an unstable, unclean, and unsafe metal base bed (or rather settee) for our child — which was not any better. Even though we clearly pointed out that the issue is not only stained sofa bed for our kid, it’s much more - overall level of cleanliness and dissatisfaction with the room’s condition, the fact that it looked nothing like the photos on the website, all of that was just ignored with a solution of just removing sofa bed and installing metal base settee. 4) Staff were dismissive, and showed zero empathy. When we politely raised these concerns with the manager, we were told this was because “previous guests don’t treat the property with care.” That excuse is completely unacceptable for a hotel charging this kind of premium. Rather than taking responsibility, they blamed previous guests for “bad behavior” and accused us of “overreacting” - the room division manager even argued with us, insisting the room was “not dirty” — as though we were making it all up. 5) We were constantly reminded of a so-called “free upgrade” we never asked for — a tactic seemingly used to invalidate our concerns and avoid offering any real solution. In addition to it, we were approached with phrases like: “I think we have already took a good care of you” (meaning switching stained sofa to insecure, dirty, shabby settee). We were just shocked! Hence, the fake hospitality disappeared as soon as we voiced our genuine disappointment. What started as smiles turned into cold detachment and condescending remarks. Only at the point when we stated that we were leaving, not staying even 1 night due to arrogant approach and room conditions, ultimately required a refund, the manager said that we “wouldn’t let him resolve the situation” and briefly mentioned that we could have had furniture in our room replaced. However, we were never offered a room change or alternative accommodation, which I guess, was a bare minimum we could get from a PROFESSIONAL hotel management (which is obviously not the case!) It became clear that there was no professionalism, empathy or true desire to help. We ended up demanding a refund, changing our flights, and leaving the hotel without staying even 1 night, because staying there felt emotionally unbearable and unsafe sanitary-wise. This was a high-cost, low-standard experience cloaked in a luxury label. The lack of hygiene, empathy, and professionalism turned our family trip into a deeply stressful ordeal. Instead of getting six days of a long-waited holidays, we ended up in 2 sleepless nights, urgent change of flights, huge stress for us and our small kid, and for all of that - only 50% of a refund. Even though there was 0 of our fault in the situation where Cape Sounio hotel management did not put enough effort in delivering the promised quality and satisfy our needs as guests. This hotel does not meet even 3-star hygiene or service standards. We strongly advise families and travelers seeking comfort, cleanliness, and professionalism to look elsewhere. This is not luxury — it’s a costly disappointment.

The property is really nice with great architecture and beautiful landscaping. Views of the Temple are terrific especially at night. The service is super friendly although at times, they feel that you need to be attended to 24/7, when a little less might be preferable. The rooms are nice and large, and the bathrooms are modern luxury. For the price, they should have slightly better sheets/ blankets which seemed a bit thin. The restaurant is a bit of a mixed bag. The food was generally good, not great. The salads at lunch were nice, fried potatoes delicious. Dinner was ok. Sushi lacked much flavor and the fish entrees were a bit over-sauced. Like the rest of the hotel, it feels like the ratio of staff to guests is a bit too high. Overall, a nice experience but all a bit pricey.
