This was an exceptional choice, truly an accommodation that is superior to all in Madeira. Our family has enjoyed our stay here: from the luxury room, to the restaurants, the VIEWS, the cliff diving and swimming and the shows put up in the evening. What a memorable highlight of our trip. Thank you! #Trump2024

Afternoon tea is a firm favourite with us and tea at Reid's was a treat. Reid's is imposing, any 5 star hotel is, but tea on the balcony overlooking Funchal Bay is really something. It's the location that makes it, the staff were great, the service excellent, the food good and the choice of tea excellent. We had to wait before being seated, it's a popular place, but it didn't matter. A great experience. 8 out of 10.

The Reid's Palace Hotel in Funchal/Madeira? A place with tradition and history where time seems to have stood still. The entrance is unspectacular on a main road. But after entering the premises, you are immediately captivated by the beautiful and spacious front garden to the entrance. As you pass the reception, you are greeted with a distinguished "Hello Sir" from the concierge. A pleasantly dimmed and wonderfully fresh-smelling entrance hall opens up, through which you are led straight into the comfortable lobby. There you are asked to wait until you are called - nothing works without a reservation! The terrace that then opens up with a breathtaking view to the coast. After you have been led to your seat, you are pampered according to all the rules of the old English art of tea. The selection of tea is extensive. From classic black teas to green teas and "infused teas". Everything is there. The service in tailcoats and livery is also first class. The food in the form of sandwiches and small cakes is on the level of delicacies. And of course a glass of champagne. Pure understatement. Very British.

Came here as a final treat on our ten day Madeira break (a complete surprise holiday for my 60th). Afternoon tea at three on the terrace.
Very impressed with the service (all staff very attentive), the choice of teas on offer, and the high quality of the sandwiches, cakes, and scones. All absolutely first class. The terrace setting was also particularly nice (although seating is first come first served, so you are advised to arrive earlier than the 3pm (or 4.30pm second sitting) if you want a terrace table right by the balcony railings for the best view across the city and bay.
The gardens below the terrace are particularly pretty, and the hotel itself seems a very high class and discreet establishment.
Afternoon tea is most definitely highly recommended.
