If you are looking for an elegant stay for a reasonable price right off of Union Square, this is the place. The hotel has been beautifully renovated with amazing attention to detail. The staff is professional, attentive and friendly. The room was nicely appointed with a comfortable bed and plush towels. The bar has an excellent wine and cocktail selection. Our experience in the Starlite Room was romantic and special. Be sure to talk to Leif, their seasoned concierge, for ideas around the city. I will definitely return for a stay. I highly recommend!

Unbeatable location right next to union square and cable cars. The roof top bar restaurant is a must try definitely call for reservations or be there at opening for bar seating it’s first come first serve. The hotel staff is friendly. The hotel is older with history definitely. Older Westinghouse elevators! Think of 1920’ 30’s swing dance. I will definitely consider this hotel in future. I’d say the only downside would be if you’re not into historical style buildings or the cable car bells constantly ringing the bell. Not really the hotel faults it’s part of San Francisco and the fact you can step outside the hotel and hop on a cable car is awesome. Rooms are clean but older style to match the hotel. I personally like that style.

Stayed three nights in late June at the Beacon Grand and loved it. Our room was HUGE for the price. The staff was gracious and went out of their way to accommodate us. The concierge gave us a great rec for a wonderful sushi restaurant a short walk away. We also loved the hotel's lobby bar, and the rooftop bar was super cool. Location was great - we walked to a lot of great shopping, restaurants and the SF Museum of Modern Art.

Excellent, friendly staff and location. The lobby bar and restaurant is very nice and attractive. Traveling solo I had a basic room which was small but just fine for one person or two people if you don’t have much luggage. They get bonus points for having a clothing steamer in the room as well as two aluminum bottles of water. Nice towels and bedding.
