We really appreciated our stay at the Bahia Principe Grand Tulum. Honestly—what’s not to like? It’s a beautiful resort right by the ocean, with lush tropical vegetation, friendly wildlife, and an overall relaxing vibe. While the beaches aren’t the best for swimming, that’s just a small downside. The pools are nearby, you can still hear the waves, and everything is designed for comfort and fun. For kids, it truly feels like paradise—amazing water slides, parks, and super kid-friendly staff made it a dream vacation for the whole family. All in all, a fantastic experience. We’d definitely come back!

Short version: great staff and location, ants and cockroaches in the room. Long version: 3.5 to 4 stars. The staff was friendly, helpful, and made the experience great. I really can’t say enough good things about how the people working there treated us. Wonderful pools and great view of the ocean. Food was good and the buffet had a great variety for all tastes. The room itself was fine. Overall it gave the impression of being just a bit run down, maybe a few years away from needing an overhaul. However, there were ants in the bathroom and a few other places. We also found a big cockroach in the room and another one in our luggage when we got home. This was my first trip to Mexico, so maybe this is just a fact of life in that climate? Overall a positive experience, but there was enough to make me consider going elsewhere if we ever go back.

First time at this resort and second time back to Mexico. We were given a free room upgrade from the jr suite to the 2 room suite which was incredible. The room was fantastic and up to date. The resort is large so be prepared to walk. The food was incredible at the buffet. I didn’t really enjoy the food at the Don Pablo a la carte. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. I met one of the entertainment staff(Erick) one day and he was very friendly and helpful. Despite having lots of people at the resort he always said hi and remembered my name when he saw me. The pools were clean and warm but not much shade. The beach was less than desirable with the amount of sargassum that washed ashore. Not sure if that is a seasonal thing or what but the mounds were 6 feet tall. Be ready to pay for shows in the evening. Over all this resort is great and we had a great time there recently. I highly recommend this resort.

Second time there and it was even better than the first time. Rooms are clean and relaxing, the grounds are gorgeous and well kept. Service is always impeccable. Saul and Samuel are fantastic bartenders, Angel and Edwin are incredible wait staff, and Erick with the entertainment team was awesome and friendly and everywhere getting things going. All the staff are thoughtful and pleasant to be around. Will definitely be going back. The a la cartes are also great, would recommend Tequila and Gran Tortuga.

DO NOT STAY HERE – HORRIBLE SERVICE, DISGUSTING ROOMS, AND A SCAM TRANSPORTATION SERVICE! Our stay at Bahia Principe Tulum was one of the worst travel experiences we have ever had. From the disgusting conditions of the rooms to the absolute lack of customer service, this resort is far from the “luxury experience” they claim to offer. First, let’s talk about the scam transportation service they push on their guests. We booked a private transfer through the hotel, expecting reliability. Instead, we were left stranded at the Cancun airport for over an hour in the heat because no one showed up. When we asked the hotel for help, they washed their hands of it, claiming the transportation company was separate from them—yet they are the ones who book it! Then, on our departure day, our transfer never arrived at 3 AM, leaving us stranded once again. The hotel couldn’t even reach the company themselves, and at one point, the front desk staff literally walked away and left us standing there alone. We were forced to scramble for a last-minute taxi to make our flight. Absolutely unacceptable. Now onto the hotel itself—it is nowhere near a 5-star experience. • Rooms: The showers have black mold in the cracks, making them disgusting and unsanitary. Our air conditioner broke three times during our stay, and each night, we had to wait for maintenance to come fix it. The room was miserably hot, making it impossible to get a good night’s sleep. • Food & Restaurants: The buffet food is average at best, but you cannot take food to-go. The steak at their “fine dining” restaurant was completely inedible, and I’d rate their restaurants two stars at best—certainly not the five-star experience they market. • Service: There is zero poolside service. If you expect to be waited on, have drinks brought to you, or experience anything remotely resembling a luxury vacation, this is NOT the place for you. They do not offer room service, and overall, the customer service is terrible. If you’re looking for a stress-free, luxurious vacation where you actually feel taken care of, DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. It is a total disappointment, and we will never return.
