This was our first time visiting and we would highly recommend! Room is great only thing is the mattress is very hard, but the room was cleaned everyday with care. The staff are amazing all around. If you are visiting the buffet ask to be in Edwin’s section, he made every meal there extra special with his kindness and attention. The A la Cartes were delicious. The beach is beautiful and the pools were clean. Entertainment every night was great! We look forward to visiting other Bahía Príncipe resorts for our next vacation!

Mixed Feelings of Grandeur and Frustration The Highlights: - Impressive Ambiance: The resort undeniably creates the feeling of a high-end experience. The facilities are beautiful, the grounds are meticulously maintained, and the staff generally provide a pleasant service. - Soundproof Rooms: A definite plus is the effective soundproofing in the rooms, ensuring a peaceful stay. - Friendly and Helpful Staff: Many staff members were noted for their helpfulness and positive attitude. - Wide Buffet Selection: The buffet offers a pretty wide range of options, catering to various tastes. The Lowlights: - Hidden and Misleading Costs: Be prepared for unexpected financial burdens. This includes an additional "tax" at check-in, without a clear breakdown or receipt, and the misleading "free" Wi-Fi, which is essentially unusable. Guests are pressured to pay an extra $30 USD for a supposedly "upgraded" service that still only delivers standard hotel speeds. This feels like a bait-and-switch tactic. Numerous aspects of the resort experience, including some evening shows, incur extra charges. This constant upselling detracts from the overall value. - Inconsistent Policies and Logic: The resort suffers from perplexing inconsistencies. While some guests can openly drink by the pool, others apparently cannot. Similarly, fishing from the beach is permitted, yet collecting seashells results in confiscation by staff for personal gain – a truly bizarre and disappointing practice. - Privacy Issues: For a single parent traveling with teenagers, the "upgrade" to a room with see-through shower and toilet doors is unacceptable and demonstrates a lack of consideration. - Inconvenient Layout: While the spaciousness of the resort is appealing, the significant distances between amenities necessitate either extensive walking or an unpredictable shuttle service. - Convoluted Activity Booking: Arranging activities is unnecessarily complicated, with guests being repeatedly redirected. - Extremely Difficult A La Carte Dining: Despite the "high-end" claim, securing a reservation at an a la carte restaurant proved extremely difficult, with only one booking possible after several days and settling for our last choice. - Lack of Expected Amenities: For a resort positioned as high-end and located directly on the beach, the absence of complimentary water sports like small catamarans or kayaks is a significant oversight. Everything seems geared towards paid excursions. - Neglected Beach: The infrequent beach cleaning renders it largely unusable on many days, a major disappointment for a beachfront property. - Lack of Early Morning Coffee Option: Unlike many resorts, there is no 24-hour bar or service to get a coffee before the buffet opens in the morning. Guests are directed to use automatic coffee machines, and during our week, one or both of these machines were frequently out of order. - Inconsiderate Departure Timing: The resort's practice of scheduling airport transfers more than four hours before departure seems designed to ensure guests miss their last included meal, adding unnecessary inconvenience to the journey home. Overall: While the Bahia Principe Grand Tulum presents an initial impression of luxury with its appealing facilities and grounds, the numerous inconsistencies, hidden costs, frustrating service aspects, and lack of transparency significantly detract from the experience. The perplexing policies and the feeling of being constantly nickel-and-dimed leave a lasting negative impression. Potential guests should be aware of these significant drawbacks before booking.

Really pleased with my stay here. The service is top notch, location is phenomenal. Food is great, plenty of options in the Buffet and restaurants around the resort. Amazing golf course next to the resort. Rooms are nice but also lacking, rooms are very humid and wet, some bugs, missing pillows on couches, lack of plugs. Overall recommend it if you’re with family or want some time off to yourself.

Second time there and it was even better than the first time. Rooms are clean and relaxing, the grounds are gorgeous and well kept. Service is always impeccable. Saul and Samuel are fantastic bartenders, Angel and Edwin are incredible wait staff, and Erick with the entertainment team was awesome and friendly and everywhere getting things going. All the staff are thoughtful and pleasant to be around. Will definitely be going back. The a la cartes are also great, would recommend Tequila and Gran Tortuga.

We stayed here for 7 days and every day was great. We travelled with air Canada vacations and had a shuttle transfer to and from hotel with no issues. I upgraded to the premium superior and everything was nice and clean. The only thing is if you’re coming for a good beach this one isn’t really the best as it’s pretty washed out now but maybe it changes depending on time of year. All in all would highly reccomend this resort. Always chairs available. Swim up bar is excellent. Service was great. Something to note: download the Bahia principe app before your trip!
