We just recently returned from a week here. Having been to Punta Cana several times we are somewhat familiar with how things work. The resort is very large because it consists of 7 in one, although you don't have access to all, it depends where you stay. The room was dated, but clean. It has everything you need for a basic stay, bed, good size washroom and great water pressure and plenty of Hot water. The mini-fridge was always well stocked with pop, water and beer. The grounds were clean and well kept although a little outdated with some obvious wear and tear. Food: was mediocre, the buffet had a decent variety however food was never quite warm enough, but enough to choose from. If you sat on the right side of the space it had a very bad odor that was not pleasant, go to the left when you walk in and you should be fine. The food in the a la cart restaurants was more pleasurable, unfortunately you limited to how many of these dinners bases on the length of your stay. It would be nice if there was a snack station close to the pools that aren't at the beach so you can grab a snack without having to go up to the main buffet. The buffet on the beach for lunch is a lovely option with fantastic views. We had the Japanese, Italian and steak house for our a la cart dinners and they were all decent options, (heard the fish market was delicious if you like seafood) The bars were good and generally they had whatever you wanted to drink with the exception of running out of a few things. No complaints with the bars. We did come across a few staff that were pretty rude and added a bad taste to our stay, but generally had very pleasant interactions. We did have a conversation with someone at guest services as they had requested to speak with me based on my rating that was given on their app. I thought this showed real interest in striving to be better. They wanted to know why I had given it the rating and what they could do better and could they offer us anything. I told them we appreciated the interested in hearing what we had to say. They offered us an extra ala cart dinner, as well we asked if getting a late check out was possible. They agreed that they could give us late check out at 2pm which was greatly helpful as our transfer to the airport was not until 3:20pm. We decided to check on the this the day we were due to leave, and sure enough there was no record of this being offered to us. Being frustrated already we went for breakfast and returned after to guest services. They were able to give us late check out at 3pm but at our own expense ($25 US). So just several little things that make the overall visit not superb. None of these were huge deals, but sadly added up. It is a decent value for an all inclusive just not a 5 star resort in my own opinion. Everyone has different experiences and so you need to go in with own expectations.

Spent a week at Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana and let me say I was nervous based on others reviews. I'm in complete shock to see all these bad reviews as we had nothing but a great experience. We did start by upgrading our room and it was well worth it. The room was spectacular and very close to the pool and beach. The room was clean and always had a restocked fridge. The AL a Carts we had were Hindu, Japanese. And Mexican they were all so amazing and delicious full of flavor. The mosquitoes are bad but nothing that bug spray can't help with. I am leaving with only one bite after 7 days. The resort is very large and you will get lost but they do have trolleys that can take you around and come every few minutes. The only thing I would change is the buffet very bland food but you will always find something to eat. The staff here is amazing friendly and smiling individuals. Always had plates drinks and food whenever you need.for lunch we had the buffet by the pool and was good and there is a food truck with self ordering which also has amazing lunch options. The resort offers amazing entertainment at all hours of the day. Overall great experience would recommend it and hopefully come back one day.

This is my second time here this year. We upgraded to the newer rooms near the beach and what a great experience. The rooms were amazing, the food options were plenty, drinks were amazing and the animation team are truly are a fantastic bunch.

This is not a five star hotel, some rooms are very old, ours was full of mosquitoes, we used a good repellent every day,it didn't work,my daughter spent 2 days at the hospital with an infection from the bites, her face was all swollen, was hard for her to open the eyes ,the hotel didn't care, they even made me pay 50$cad for a late check out that I request it for 4 pm because I was at the hospital with her,we were luck we made it to our flight that night. The best service we got was at the private hospital and the medical clinic at the hotel make sure you have insurance. .All of us in the room got bitten really bad, myself had 22 bites in one arm. Most employees are nice and smiling, the beach was very good but a lot of tourists were very rude and cutting lines. We didn't wanted housekeeping service everyday, because they clean rooms with the door open and the mosquitoes would invade the room, but housekeeper was very nice and gave us everything we needed. We had a bad leak from the air conditioner, couldn't sleep all night from it,my daughters clothes got wet but after I told them they did come quick to fix it. Food was ok,while at the hospital we met a couple of guests from the same hotel with food poisoning, we had not problem with food ourselves but they did. The cold meats were never cold or the fruit and the hot meals were just warm, the egg stations were good, the cooks were all very happy cooking the eggs and omelets. The best is the coffee station at the lobbies and the ice cream machine at the food truck. The pools were very clean and well maintained. The mosquitoes ruined our vacation we came prepared for it but it didn't work Please return my money for the late checkout, I shouldn't have to be charge for it,because of all the hassles I should be compensate for something, I did spend 140$ US just going back and forth to the hospital in taxis. We stayed in room 38110 it's close to the lobby maybe that's were most mosquitoes are. Please make sure you have medical insurance when you come.

This resort bills itself as five star, but it is a two and a half star resort at most. The first problem was when we arrived, we had requested a two bedroom suite, and it turned out that the hotel didn’t offer those, only a room with two beds. We were travelling in a party of 6, and although the hotel was happy to accommodate us in two different resorts, (there are four resorts on the same property), the staff neglected to mention that by separating us into two hotels, we would not be able to see each other over our holidays, as you are not allowed to travel between resorts. Figuring out took the better part of our first day. On second day, when I realized that our party had been effectively split in half, it took most of second day to get that sorted out. I didn’t mind paying for what was essentially an upgrade, but I would book everything at one hotel only to arrive at the next hotel (part of the same facility) to find out that they had neglected to send on the new reservation. It took the two days to get the entire party settled into the same hotel, and this was not a communication issue, as one of our party speaks fluent Spanish. The second problem is that the buffet food was largely inedible, and you couldn’t get into the restaurants. My kids were living on doughy pizza and undercooked fries. It turns out that early check in does not work properly, (the hotel gave us a code that did not work), and by the time that we arrived the only available slots in the restaurants were for 5 pm and 10 pm. Also the hotel’s laundry was completely unreliable, they ruined one of my friend’s shirts. This resort facility does have some real strengths. Individually the staff are lovely, but management, particularly in between resorts, is non-existent. The pool is great and the beach is spectacular, and not too crowded. Ultimately it is up to you whether you want to risk coming here or not, but just be aware that there are some serious deficiencies which the resort makes no effort to address. We wound up leaving early and taking a loss.
