AVA Resort Cancun

As a general guest the hotel would be great but as a VIP Legendary Member it is severely failing. The pool & bar service was subpar, beach service was non-existent, and member benefits were completely ignored. Management made a decision recently to only allow 1/2 of Legendary members access to an all members pool, there-by ignoring our contractual rights. When this was brought to their attention they did nothing. At the other Legendary resorts (all Hard Rock’s & Unico’s in Mexico & Dominican Republic) the pool & beach service is non-stop. No guests drinks are ever empty. Not at AVA! Service is super slow at the adult pool and the south end of the AVA Bay pool. It often took 2-4 requests before they remembered to bring our drinks and even more requests before food was delivered, if it ever got delivered. The beach by the adult pool is even slower and by 3pm the servers never came back. But it isn’t all bad, the spa is beautiful, the staff in it are amazing and their services are spectacular! The breakfast buffets are very good, we did not try them for lunch or dinner. The coffee and gelato shops are nice touches. Evening restaurant food and service were excellent, a little slow at times, but that is far better than being rushed. The service at the Butcher was excellent, Carlos & Ramon were wonderfully attentive and very personable. Veranda & Livo had amazing food with great service, Black Iron’s food was cooked to perfection but their host and servers were less than friendly. BAO was my least favorite. The street taco stand inside is very good as are the 2 sit down pool side restaurants. Rooms are all ocean front making the resort very long, similar to a cruise ship with all restaurants and shops along the lobby/promenade. The beach is cleared from end to end of the resort. We were told it isn’t fully landscaped yet and the current chairs & umbrellas are temporary. Past the resort’s property line to both the north & south the shoreline is wild for miles making it nearly impossible for non-resort guest to enter. Making it safe and no one trying to sell you anything and everything like on the main Cancun resort strip.

We are Legendary members and when we arrived our suite was good but not exactly what we expected. During the member presentation we wanted to upgrade but I was hesitant because of what we paid to what we got. They immediately took care of us and upgraded our room to a presidential suite. That was amazing and so comfortable for our family! Customer service was very good! The young guy who took care of us at the pool, Roberto, was second to none… so nice and always smiled! Never ran out of towels, fridge was always stocked and room service delivered within 45 minutes. When we left John was great and took care of our luggage and ride to the airport. John was so nice to us! I would only suggest a bit more detail on the cleaning. Windows had a lot of fingerprints and smudges and the floors had a lot of hair. We would come back again!

The tote painting class at Ava Resort with Eliseo was such a fun and relaxing experience. Eliseo was an incredible instructor—warm, patient, and genuinely passionate about helping everyone create something they loved. The class was well organized, easy to follow, and perfect for all skill levels. The atmosphere was creative and laid-back, and it was so satisfying to leave with a beautiful, personalized tote as a souvenir. It felt like the perfect balance of guided instruction and freedom to be creative. Highly recommend this class if you’re looking for a unique, hands-on activity during your stay at Ava Resort. A definite highlight of our trip!

The Ava Cancun resort is in a great location and has serious potential as a destination for your vacation. The resort is quite new and some of the advertised services were not ready when we visited. The Teen Club being closed was a disappointment as we had several in our large family group. The deluxe rooms are large, clean, and the bathrooms are spacious and contemporary. Most of the deluxe rooms seem to have a jacuzzi on the balcony, though double check your booking as we learned we could have booked a 5 bedroom suite with a patio and hot tub for a relatively small increase in cost. The Spa, fitness centre, and pools are a highlight, while the restaurants offer variety and casual to high class dining options. We were entertained at Kita, though we especially enjoyed our service with Miguel at Black Iron and our duo of Felix and Claudio at Chez Moi were very attentive. The food at all locations was delightful, flavorful, and stylishly plated. Their list of activities seems like a full list though some can only accommodate modest groups. Again, Ava Cancun has a lot of potential once they get some of the bugs worked out of their service (delayed) and travel agents are more familiar so they can be transparent about options and choices when it comes to booking rooms. Do not be afraid to give Ava a chance, as it will become a highlight in the future and provides a good experience in the present.

Just returned from a 6-day stay at Ava Resort esort in Cancun. The location is a perfect distance from the airport about a 15 to 20 minute taxi ride. The rooms are very spacious and the pool staff is always very attentive to your needs. I agree with some of the other reviews that the music around the adult pool gets rather loud, but there are definitely other pool options. The reason for my overall three-star review is that from the time we got there we were hounded to purchase a membership. It started out at over $100,000 and after we said no multiple times, it got down to about 8K. We were not there for a membership. We were there solely to enjoy a relaxing vacation celebrating our anniversary. It definitely impacted how we felt that day after repeatedly telling five people NO and finally walking out. Even upon checkout we were approached by one more person asking for an additional $800 to buy a small membership or return pass. Just be prepared the place is beautiful the beachfront is amazing to walk, but the sales team is absolutely Ruthless!!
