We stayed over the thanksgiving holiday, and I would definitely return. It’s a quiet, peaceful resort, of course you can always meet people and hang at the bar, but there’s no overly dramatic day parties and ragers here which I preferred for this trip. Due to an issue with another room, we ended up in the presidential suite which was insane, however I think it’s way overpriced at $4k a night, there is no liquor or wine in the rooms, just beer, and there was a small lizard living in the master bathroom (not a huge deal to me, I know it’s a tropical environment, but if I was actually paying $4k a night I’d be mad). Also it’s just a tad run down, I incorrectly assumed this was a year old new build and it’s only a year old purchase for Marriott. I get the resort not being packed, and it’s challenging getting supplies to the island, but they were running out of a lot of basics like cup lids and almond milk by the last day, my husband and I kept asking “is this luxury?” It’s reallllly close. The reason for my 5 stars is the TEAM here. From start to finish, every single team member we encountered was courteous and helpful, there are some amazing people working here, and it just feels like the owner is likely cutting the corners, but it doesn’t show on the team. Also I thought the food was great! Only meal we didn’t love was ironically the thanksgiving one 😆, but the beachside tacos, the ceviche, the pork belly tostones, all chefs kiss. And the BEACH!! It’s been a minute since I’ve been to a place with such calm clear waters, and there’s a few rocks but you definitely don’t need water shoes. Venture off resort via golf cart, it’s so worth it. If you’re looking for a nice quiet resort with an incredible team, this is it, they went above and beyond for us

We’ve been here for less than 48 hours and this has been the most disappointing experience. The resort itself is beautiful and the views are nice. Outside of that, everything falls extremely short. We picked an adult only and luxury hotel to truly unwind and enjoy our honeymoon however our experience has been the farthest from relaxation. Arrived late the other night and ordered room service but apparently their systems has the wrong room numbers tied to the phones. I found this out after we requested an extra pillow and they asked what room we were in. I then realized, room service probably had the wrong room number since they never asked us. After an hour of waiting I called back to confirm the room number for the order to ensure it got to us. Then I received a call asking for the right room number. By the time the food arrived, it was evident that it likely got delivered to the wrong room initially, brought back to room service team and then re-delivered to us. Service is pretty lack luster here. Went down to BOGA for breakfast and there were no clean plates available. We seated ourselves and after about 15 minutes I had to flag someone down just to get a cup of coffee. I was told there was another menu outside of the à la carte options but that menu never came nor a server to ever come take any orders. The outside pool area has cabanas and one person told us to go ahead and take one, meanwhile another told us that we need to pay for them. There is zero communication or guidance here and we are left to just figure things out ourselves. For a five star resort, this is crazy. We frequent Cancun and typically stay at family friendly resorts and in comparison, I wish we just stayed where we usually do. When you’re spending over $5k on a vacation, this is unbelievably unacceptable. Our room comes with a dual seated jacuzzi and I had the water running for a while only to realize that the seal on the stopper was damaged and not holding in water. We called the front desk and maintenance showed up to swap it out. By the time they came, it was too late for us to use it as we needed to get ready for the NYE dinner. As we are getting ready, the power in the room was cut off and seemed to be isolated to our room only. I called the desk again and had to wait for maintenance to come back to fix the breaker in the bedroom. Mind you, we are in the dark and trying to shuffle around to get dressed. I tried ordering room service last night and the phone rang for an excess of 17 mins until we eventually hung up. This morning we were awakened at 5 am by the guest next door banging on his guest room door to get in. It went on for a solid 20-30 mins. I tried calling the front desk and the phone rang out for over five minutes. I went out there to confront him myself. There are cameras everywhere here, where is your security team? Do yall not see belligerency happening? One of the main reasons we booked this resort was because they had a private boat that brings you to the island. After speaking with a few different people, we found out that the boat isn’t in operation. We’ve heard due to maintenance, due to management changes that the boat is no longer a thing, or that no problems exist and it’s fully functional. Either the staff are clueless or you are advertising amenities that are false. Needless to say, the last 36 hours have been a completely disappointing experience and we wish we stayed anywhere else but here. This is a small resort, not many people in comparison to other properties. To be told it’s just a busy time for one doesn’t make sense - clearly management needs to step it up and staff the hotel properly and two doesn’t mean the five star experience should be diminished. This was our first and likely last Marriott Bonvoy stay. Thank you.

I recently stayed at Almare Island Mujeres for what was meant to be a special babymoon, but unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations for a luxury getaway. First, we were disappointed to learn that our private boat service was canceled just two days before our arrival, forcing us to take a public ferry followed by an unpleasant taxi ride. This was not the relaxing start we had hoped for. On the beach there was no tranquility on Friday, but an awful DJ blaring loud, inappropriate music from the hotel’s pier. It felt like a chaotic spring break party, making it nearly impossible for guests hoping to unwind and read on the beach. I was shocked that the hotel didn't intervene to protect the peaceful atmosphere they advertise. Additionally, the lady at the coffee shop was notably unfriendly. Every morning, we encountered the same unpleasant attitude from the barista, which made our mornings less enjoyable. As for the accommodations, while there seemed to be an attempt at upgrades, the rooms lacked the luxurious feel one would expect. The "snacks" provided consisted of a few Skittles and a granola bar thrown in a drawer, which hardly qualified as a thoughtful touch. Lastly, despite being pregnant and needing extra pillows to sleep comfortably, it took four phone calls to receive them—a frustrating experience that added to our dissatisfaction. Overall, Almare Island Mujeres fell short of its luxurious promises and left us feeling disappointed. We ended up leaving a day early, I cannot recommend this place for those seeking a true luxury experience.

This resort was absolutely everything we were looking for during our stay on Isla Mujeres. We stayed at the end of November and it was SO quiet. Very relaxing, the service was phenomenal and the food was all delicious. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to the island. If you are looking for a busier evening life scene, it's about a 20 min drive to Playa Norte where most of the shops, restaurants and bars are. However, we only planned to spend a small portion of our trip off the resort so this wasn't a problem for us. We rented a golf cart one day and took cabs the other days. A cab from the resort to Playa Norte is about $12.

We stayed at this luxury resort to celebrate my friend's birthday and wow! Our entire stay was delightful from the ferry trip to the island and back. Our suite was spacious and super clean with a nice jacuzzi tub. We had a fully stocked refrigerator and cozy chairs on our balcony. There are no complaints with the staff at Almare. Everyone worked extremely hard to accommodate us. The meals were unique and tasty however it would've been nice if there were all day buffet options. Overall, I'd book again.
