I just got back from a week long stay at Allegro Playacar, and we all had a wonderful time. The breakfast and dinner buffets were my favorite! The staff was so kind and sweet, and the customer service is top tier. Mayra was very patient helping us book our excursions and giving us tips for local outings. Saul did a great job cleaning our room, and even made us some towel art. The dining staff, including Humberto and Isaac, all did an amazing job keeping our drinks topped off and making us feel so at home. We all truly felt like we were treated like family, and I would definitely come back.

The biggest issue with our recent stay was the food. It ranged from average to awful. The 3 "premium" restaurants were not all open every evening. Usually only 1 or 2 of the 3. And guests only got to make a reservation 1 or 2 nights of the stay. But the food in the 1 we got to eat at was good. The buffets were awful...in flavor and options. The drinks had a smaller amount of alcohol, but it is an all inclusive. That is to be expected. Better food would take this review from a 2 star to a 4 star.

This is the most honest review you’ll get because the reviews are so mixed. I realized the reviews are high because a lotttttt of locals stay here so of course this is amazing to them. The resort itself is beautiful all the pictures are accurate. The staff is kind, pays attention, and most importantly always makes sure your drink is filled. The food is really awful. If you’re American I wouldn’t advise you to stay here for this reason. A lot of days we found 1-3 things that were edible and ate that the whole time. The food they offer throughout the day… popcorn burnt, pizza is horrible, and only strawberry ice cream. Our last day we just ate a bunch of bread, water, and steak from the hot grill. They do have the fancy restaurants which we did not have a chance to go to as everyday you have to walk to the lobby and make a reservation by 9:30am it is not automatically booked nor do they care that they said it would come with your stay. All in all we booked this 8 months ago and the price was $100 a night if you have to pay more than that go somewhere else, seriously!!

Honestly the BEST customer service I've had in a long time. Travelled with 7 girls for a low key, relax on the beach, bachelorette. It was a small resort, walkable, clean and the team was unbelievably kind!! Special shout out to the following: Jorge the Chef - I am celiac and he walked me around the buffet telling me what was safe and what wasn't & even brought me my own dessert! It's the first trip I've been on in a LONG time where I didn't get sick :) Edwardo at the pool bar - always laughing, kind and makes the best cocktails! Ricardo was a great server - One of the women that joined was pregnant and he always made sure water was ready the second we sat down. He always took the time to see how our day was going. Everyone was so kind & accommodating, would recommend!

We enjoyed our time at the pool especially Angel(Flash) leading the Aquazumba and the bracelets he made for us. The kitchen staff was also very helpful with allergies and willing to help find/create options. Food and drinks were good, wish we could’ve made more than 2 reservations during our stay but the buffet was good too.
