After a two-hour minibus transfer from Thessaloniki airport, we were pleased to find the hotel welcoming and organised, with the check in being brief before being taken to our room. We were astounded by the size of the room, a palatial triple with a balcony with a view across to the sea and Ammouliani.
The location of Alexandros Palace is great if you’re looking for a beach or water sports holiday. The nearby beach is accessed from a tunnel under the main road, it’s lovely stretch of sand and gorgeous, clear sea with amply loungers and umbrellas. There’s also a good bar for food and drink. There’s two large pools in the complex, we chose the one nearer the beach which was usually quieter and populated with couples rather than families with toddlers at the other pool.
Thankfully there is a well-stocked and reasonably priced shop in the complex as this is the only place nearby to pick up groceries of essentials. We were under the impression that there were nearby walks leading from the hotel, into the UNESCO world heritage nature. However, when we asked at the front desk, the woman said that she wasn’t local, knew of a walk we could take but there are wild dogs in that area. We decided not to take that walk funnily enough!
The biggest shock was the dining area, the inside being quite canteen-like but a covered outside area that was a bit more ‘restaurant like’. Although probably large enough for a holiday complex like this, it was generally packed with families and chaotic. There is a large sign at the entrance that states “please wait to be seated”, which we did but found all families piling past us to go hunt for somewhere to sit in amongst the general mayhem. We asked a few staff but they generally smiled, said they would check and then scarper off. The food on the self-service buffet was really good, I put on weight while on holiday, but going getting it, with people coming at you from every direction with no sense of politeness, order or decorum was really stressful. If you wanted an alcoholic drink with dinner or coffee with breakfast or generally anything you couldn’t get yourself, flagging down waiting staff could be difficult and tedious. We also thought there would be another restaurant on the site, which cost extra, but there was no sign of anything else open. A week of being surrounded by what felt like hundreds of families, every single meal at the resort was stressful.
In short, we felt it is a good resort for families with children, by the looks of the registration plates of all the cars it appears to be very popular with Serbian families. If you want to sit by the pool or beach, or perhaps take out a boat or scuba, then this is a great place. However, for a couple looking for a holiday away from children, I would suggest look elsewhere.

Good value for the money, great location, good food, could have been more dinner choices but fine. Beach is beautiful, clearest water ever :)
Room was okish, lot of ants but was cleaned every day. Very small wardrobe, no 3rd chair on porch nor glass/cup/bathroom slippers and it was booked for 3 adults…
Overall great experience, if you want to relax and have no need for nightlife this would be a great place for you.

Nice hotel. Five stars is not reality, maybe it deserves four. The rooms are nicely decorated, although they are not spacious. The lack of hygiene maintenance in the hotel: there were ants in the rooms that gathered around the trash can, the windows do not have mosquito nets and there are mosquitoes, not many but enough to annoy.
The beach is nicely arranged, clean, the water is clean, but the entrance to the water is rocky. It takes 5 minutes to walk from the hotel to the beach with small children.
The food in the restorant is very tasty.

We spent lovely holiday here. Excellent hotel for kids and families. Rooms are big and clean, and there is everyday room service. Parking is private and free of charge, sunbeds and umbrellas are free of charge beside the pool and on the beach. Wifi is strong in all areas. There is mini disco for kids every night except Mondays. Food is delicious, fresh and tasty. People who work in restaurant and in beach bar are nice and friendly, especially two young women who work in the balcony area of restaurant.
All in all I strongly recommend this hotel and I hope I'll visit it again.

Very nice place, we enjoyed our stay for 11 nights. As a matter of fact, it was so good, that we oversaw that it was our last day, so we had to pack and evacuate in a hurry (our fault). I highly recommend Alexandros Palace for family vacation, this hotel exceeded our expectations in terms of food (quality and quantity), and pleasant stuff.
