Hi, we have stayed in numerous hotels in Paphos over the years but not one has come up to the standard your hotel. gave us over Christmas this year. We couldn't fault a single thing. The staff in all departments were exceptional, nothing was too much trouble, service with a smile everywhere. We have to give a special mention to Jason. It was a pleasure to see him every morning he made a great effort to say good morning to everyone at breakfast. His service and attention to detail in Geovani resturant was exceptional. We will definitely be staying in the Alexander from now on. Thank you all. Regards Rosina & Brian Chapman

The hotel had a slightly tired and dated feel about it. At times I felt that I'd been mysteriously transported back to the 70s or 80s. The immediate are around the hotel - including the beach - was quite unappealing. Lunch: Some people, like me don't do breakfast, so it would have been nice to have to simple cold plate options - a few meats, perhaps a sliced hard boiled egg and some sliced paprika/cucumber in addition to the cheese you already provide. The actual quality of food was fine. Dinner: Quiet "Tafelmusik" is OK. Anything loud ruins the dining experience. I stayed for 4 weeks, after a week or so the food becomes depressingly predictable. Better quality wines would have helped. Most evenings I ended up with 20 blobs, lumps and pieces on my plate, but no discernible meal. The steamed vegetables were always good (not over cooked), but why not use fresh vegetables (including left-overs) as a basis for soup the next day? General lack of imagination and consistency. Often the food was only tepid. The only dining experience that was actually good was the Italian restaurant. I got to know the staff a little. Jordan was very chatty. Here too there are areas that could be improved. Some of the starter courses are enormous, but others tiny - it's impossible to know what you are going to get. The same mediocre wines as in the main buffet, which is disappointing. Room: I found my room (138) gloomy and depressing. The view was of the car-park and main road. Traffic noise was annoying - ditto a collection of men (taxi? bus drivers?) congregating and talking - often loudly - from midnight to one most days. The room was often hot and stuffy, but opening the windows wasn't an option. The A/C seemed to have one setting hot or hotter. The main door isn't aligned correctly, so noise is clearly heard from outside. No extractor fan in the bathroom, so everything steams up. Shower temp. setting jumps from Ok to very hot without warning. The bath once filled, didn't seem to be easily emptied. The maid had to empty my bath for me, as I'm not sure that the open/close valve worked properly. The toiletries had a horrid "institutional smell". I could write a lot more, but will just sum up by saying that I would never return, even if my stay were 100% free.

Been to Paphos multiple times but have stayed at a different hotel on all inclusive basis. We have decided to stay at Alexander The Great after walking past on numerous occasions & it always looked nice so we thought we would chance it. We arrived after dinner service & found a plate of food in the room. Reception told us we had a welcome drink aswell but never received this. We booked full board plus which we thought was different to just full board but it was the same. Room location was good & what we had booked a sea view. The hotel has an excellent system in place with sunbed allocation for your stay which can be amended if you are not happy. We were allocated sunbeds 65 which were in a perfect location overlooking the beach & a short walk from the pool area. Food in the hotel not the greatest & not a lot of choice quite similar most nights & lot of beef & pork! A little suggestion for lunches would be to have the continental meats & cheeses out at lunch rather than just breakfast as these would have been perfect with salads. A number of times we went in the restaurant at lunch time seemed to be short staffed & we had to take a seat ourselves & wait a while for our only drink order to be taken. In the bar area I was sat for almost 1 hour for a waiter/waitress to ask me if I want a drink (there were 3 members of staff on at the time). Bar prices are competitive with local bars which was good. We booked a room with late check out as our flight was not until 10pm but received a letter from the hotel reception advising that we would re-activate our room key & extend the sunbed allocation which we were fine with, but if we wanted an evening meal we would have to pay for this, even though the food was not the greatest it would have been nice for the hotel to offer this free of charge. Overall the hotel is lovely & located in a perfect location but unfortunately I don't think we will be returning due to the food not being up to standard for us & us preferring the all inclusive option.

My sister and I stayed here for our birthday week, and we had an incredible time there. The managers and staff were lovely, food was great and versatile, and walks on the promenade were memorable. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It also helps that most of the heritage sites were within walking distance!

I would rate this a 3 star not 4. The food has room for improvement. Some of the staff where miserable but Andrea was a very pleasant young man. My request for a quiet room was not met. Location was good and close enough to walk to the harbour.
