Perfect hotel for a family vacation. We spent 2 weeks here with our 4 year old son, and it was perfect. Everything one can expect: beautiful hotel, wonderful location, sparkling clean, staff is very friendly and attentive, excellent breakfast, lovely kids club and great facilities. We especially loved the location - it is far from the touristy hassle but still with good dining options around, offering amazing white sand beach and tranquility. We also appreciated the quietness of the hotel - no loud entertainment, no partying, no drunk hangouts in the middle of the night, just peace and quiet. Can strongly recommend!

If you're looking for a laid-back hotel for your holidays in Thailand, this might not be the one. Upon arrival, the reception staff was friendly, promptly escorting us to a better room that the one we booked. The rooms are spacious with a wide bed, TV, air conditioning and a bathroom. They also have a fridge (only with water, not a minibar) and a coffee machine. However, the rooms seemed a bit old and poorly maintained – noticeable wear on the walls and switches. The air conditioning is noisy but necessary for a good night sleep. The room door doesn't close tightly, allowing the occasional bug/mosquito to sneak in. Room cleanliness could be improved overall. A couple of issues were promptly addressed by the housekeeping team though. Common areas are lovely, spacious, and well-maintained. Some areas have a rather unpleasant smell of sewage. The breakfast is rather basic. Not a lot of variety and average quality. I would advise to go early (around 7 AM) to avoid the chaos of people and kids running in swimwear later on. In summary, this could be a good hotel for families, but it was definitely below our expectations (F&B, room design and equipment, maintenance).

This was our second stay here within 2 years. Positive: The staff are great - very attentive, very polite, very helpful, very responsive. The breakfast offered more variety than last year, the hotel also offers gluten free bread and sweets, but you have to ask for it directly and have to wait a little while. I was very thankful for the option and hope that other hotels pick this up too. Having allergies is no fun in Asia. The beach is simply stunning. Neutral: The rooms are spacious, the design is minimalistic. I did not find an issue with it. Upon arrival late in the evening, our two single beds were given to us as one King bed. Upon our complaint, the housekeeping swiftly changed the beds. While it is not a big issue, it was annoying after a day of travel to not have the room you asked for. Food at the restaurant is decent, but overpriced and catered to a Western audience. A couple of meters down the beach, you can find cheaper and more authentic Thai food. This is purely up to one's taste though. Negative: This year, more guests were staying at the hotel than last year - unfortunately, people started reserving beds at the beach and the pool early in the morning. Arriving later than 10am resulted in having to hunt for beds, no parasols, no shade. Last year, this was not the case. This does absolutely not contribute to a relaxed atmosphere - breakfast has to be rushed or one has to rush to reserve beds as well. While Outrigger in its app let's guests know this is actually forbidden, nothing is done about it and some beds are occupied without any people in sight for hours. It might be better to put up signs and actually act - if no one is there for an hour, remove the items from the beds. The staff at the beach is very attentive and nice and should be directed to maintain a fair distribution of beds for everyone. Negative/neutral/positive: This has turned into a family hotel. Lots of families with lots of young, screaming kids from sunrise to sunset. If you're a family, you might already be deaf or simply don't care, but if you're looking for peace and quiet on a beautiful beach, this is not the hotel for you. Maybe we were unlucky with the parents and their parenting style while we were there, but it's been a long time since I've seen so many screaming babys and toddlers and at times unsupervised children under 10 in one place. It's really a shame for people who are looking for quiet holidays. We understand that there is nothing Outrigger can do about screaming children, but it is important to know for future guests, thus I am explicitly mentioning this issue. To sum it up: A decent hotel with great staff in a picturesque location, but not the place to be for people who are looking for quiet, relaxing holidays.

One of the hotel where good for relaxations because of good atmosphere and peaceful. Time to mention about staff that very very friendly and courtesy. They are very helpful, good taking care and warm welcome. One more thing there are more facilities provided. Overall perfect, place for relax. Nice beach!!!!

I can’t understand the negative reviews of this hotel. It was amazing. Excellent for families. Rooms all have 2 huge beds. All our family (2 adults, 6 and 1 year olds) slept in 1 bed. 3.5 star rooms / 5 star faculties for families. Bedrooms are not 5 star but perfectly fine - cleaned daily. Free water taps everywhere in the hotel. Tui have night time entertainment for kids which was amazing. European staff for the kids club, entertainment. Pool activities, yoga etc for the whole family. Beach was lovely and clean. Hotel F&B prices reasonable. Several restaurants in the hotel but several more beach Thai restaurants on the beach. Staff were all very kind and friendly. Breakfast was great. They also have prams you can rent for £2 per day. Our daughter was crying when we had to leave she liked is so much. The most family friendly hotel we have stayed at in Thailand.

This is the worst hotel we’ve ever been. Poor service. The staffs only cared foreign visitors and treated local visitors poorly. They let us waited for a room for almost 2 hours and kept postponing, showing how unorganized they were. We found out from other guests that the hotel treated them badly too. Ironically, when we complained about our problem, the hotel staff offered us to downgrade the room to the further one. Even a manager could not handle a problem. We decided to leave because we didn’t want to ruin our trip by staying at this unprofessional hotel with lack of hospitality. If you want a bad experience and want to be treated with no respect and racism, this hotel has all bad experiences for you.

We stayed here for 10 nights with another couple on an almost all inclusive package through Luxury Escapes. Had a great time here and would highly recommend a stay here. The food was great and enjoyed a few drinks around the different bars. Staff were very friendly. There seemed to be a number of new trainees but they were all very friendly. Vee was one of the senior staff members and was always very attentive and helpful to us. We’re already looking at a future trip back.

A 5 five-star hotel that seeks its best day. Start with the good stuff. Friendly staff and kind reception everywhere. Big plus for that The service at the restaurants were however, well below what you expect. So many trainees that do their best but experience is not satisfying. Expect random time to get your meal. Up to one hour for a Greek salad we did experience. Price levels are double what you get at the beach. Quality is lower also at the hotel. We had a bad smell in our villa, which was disguised by the AC, but it was very apparent when we shut it off. The beach is okay, but you get a far better experience going to a less crowded place than Khao Lak. We were satisfied but expected more. Much more.

Came home from Thailand yesterday after a wonderful 2 week stay here. This is a beautiful hotel and what made it better were the staff, from the pool workers to the managers, they were all friendly helpful courteous and accessible. Nothing seemed to much trouble for them and when we tipped they all seemed genuinely touched as it is not expected at all. We had a deluxe swim up room which was 100% worth the extra money, as it was a lovely room with direct access to the pool and its own small jacuzzi in the pool access. The lounge area and sleeping area were separated by a sliding divide, which given we were travelling with our teenage daughter gave us all a little more privacy. The room was clean, tidy, modern and had some lovely touches such as a coffee machine, fridge and a beach bag with 2 beach matts for your use. The Wi-Fi is free and is decent throughout the hotel, the tv in the rooms have internet access with accessible links to Netflix and amazon prime so you can log into your own account which was good. Breakfast was good for a hotel buffet style breakfast, the quality of food was decent with lots of choice, (slightly limited for vegans but I still found enough to eat each day) We ate at the hotel restaurant one night the service was very good the drinks weren't really expensive for a hotel approx. 100 to 200 baht and the food was good (decent vegan choices). We had food and drinks in the food court fairly often at the hotel lunch times its more expensive than the cafes at the beach but the the food was good and the staff were brilliant especially Shaheem and Win who both deserve a special thanks. The hotel is situated near a beautiful beach but, is about a 15-20 minute taxi ride into Khao Lak. This was a little further than we expected before we arrived but actually turned out to be good. There is a free shuttle bus into Khao Lak itself from the hotel that runs from mid morning to about 1630, though a taxi one way is only about 300-400 baht so fairly inexpensive and is a must as its and experience in its own right. There are a fair few cafes and small shops (massage, laundry, bike rental, tailors, currency exchange all available) and on the beach and these are good and very reasonable. They have sunbeds you can use wifi and drink are less then 100 baht. We ate in these most nights and the three of us could eat and drink for less than 1000 baht (less than £25 at the current exchange rate). We found the Sun café to be our favourite but everyone was nice and the food was good. There are loads of pool areas so it never feels busy at all and we had a lovely relaxing stay here. I would defiantly come again. Thank you

This is not a 5-star. The rooms are quite nice, although a bit tired in places. The pool directly outside the room was quite a nice idea, although I noticed wet paper fragments floating around, which was a bit offputting. The rooms have a bathroom where you can see through the glass. I never really like this idea. There is a blind, though, so you can get your privacy. We weren’t wearing our swimming stuff when we arrived, and there appeared to be only 1 bar accessible: a swim-up bar. I thought this was a bit daft. They also have a happy hour, an obscure offer where you buy 2 get 1 free. Who gets the free drink if you are a couple? This wasn't explained to us by the barman, and he seemed to think we were cheating the system and decided he would embarrass me in front of other guests at the pool when I went and asked for the free drink. He also told me I couldn't have Diet Coke, only Full Sugar Coke in my cocktail. Very odd. I'm not usually "one of those people”, but I did complain on this occasion to the manager, who ended up being an intermediary between us and the barman rather than just honouring the free drink that probably cost them 20p, and a lengthy discussion ensued. I gave up using their pool bar after this. I think a bit of staff training on how to deal with minor disputes is needed. It didn't need a discussion on basic maths. For some reason, the electricity went off in our room on the first evening, so we couldn’t get ready to go out in the evening as we couldn’t see ourselves in the mirror. We just left them to fix the issue, which was resolved when we returned. The furniture on the beach is tired, and the loungers don't have cushions. Everything looks dirty. Yes, you expect it a bit in Thailand, but maybe the resort shouldn’t be considered 5-star. There are a few too many signs around about what you are allowed to do and what you aren’t, to the point that you feel like you will get charged should you make a mistake. They give you cards for beach towels and state that you’ll be charged for them if you don’t return the cards. However, many of the towels are threadbare and have holes, so we weren’t sure why they were quite so precious about them. I wouldn't go back. There's plenty more to choose from.

I and my friend stayed from the 18th to the 20th of February. On the first day, the air conditioner in the bedroom was broken, and it took a long time for it to cool down. We informed the hotel, and they sent a technician who said it would take about 3 hours to fix. Since it was late, we asked for an alternative, so they provided a standing fan. However, the room’s air vent had to be directed into the bathroom, which couldn’t be closed, making it uncomfortable to sleep. The hotel offered another fan but only provided one for two of us, which was very hot. The next morning, they asked if they could repair the air conditioner, but we were out all day on a trip and couldn’t accommodate the technician. We didn’t hear from the hotel all day until we returned at 6 pm and asked reception about the lack of apology or responsibility. They offered dinner, but it was already late. They called later and offered a free dinner but it was already 10pm? They said water and electricity outages were normal, even though it’s a 5-star hotel. We checked out and received an apology from the duty manager, who offered coffee before we left, which we declined. We wanted a refund for the first night’s uncomfortable sleep with just a fan. Despite several attempts, we haven’t received any follow-up from the general manager named Alex, even after a month. We just want everyone to know the lack of responsibility from the general manager. We’ve been ignored despite our attempts to resolve the issue, and it seems like lower-level staff are left to deal with it. We’re not sure if it’s because we’re Thai, as the hotel mainly caters to foreigners.

Our stay was very nice. The hotel was quiet and very relaxed at our time. I can highly recommend the hotel. In the evening, the only thing missing was some entertainment in the hotel. Khao-Lak is a very quiet area. Ideal for relaxing and switching off. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help. Thanks to all the staff at Kalima Resort❤️

Beautiful beach. Had the room with the bathtub on the balcony which was nice. Friendly staff. There are also some small Thai restos in the vicinity at another beach (maybe 15 min walk from reception desk). If you want a quiet beach vacation, consider Kalima Khao Lak.

The room was not for couple when we came. Instead of changing the room for a room like we reserved they decided to create a new bed in the room. Never see that in other hotel. The TV didn't work. So our movie night that we planned on NETFLIX canceled. They steal preferred to let us stay at the same room even that we had to stay with technician engineer at the room all the morning after. We went to speak with the manager 4 times at the lobby, there was no comment. For the last day of the vacation someone offered us during the breakfast to change room but we didn't trused Them that the other room will be OK. And also why to punished us to move equipment again for one day??? Basic understanding. Make a favor to yourself, the other fancy hotels in the area will give you much more. No comments from the hotel now here at this point will give us our expensive and special day at our vacation again. It's not that the client is always right- the hotel is sometimes wrong. And it's OK to have a problems but to let the client feel not important is something that never should happen. Will post it in a different important websites.

I would say overall hotel is amazing but I would need to complain about the management team. I booked this trip to be with my friends and their Family expected the relax and private vacation experiences in this 5 stars hotel. Surprisingly it has the Indian wedding during our stay - the check in would take longer than we expected. The wedding has many ceremony and activity which using the facility in the hotel this will be prioritize to the wedding guests , hotel mentions that it’s still open for the public but will have the majority of those wedding guest… we see the ceremony at noon at the swimming pool - Night at the beach which we may not comfortable to be around that area as they having ceremony The room I stay was said upgraded and it’s the connecting room which not having sound proof! The parent who live next to me is the wedding guests which has a children who speak loud (which I understand) I feel like they talk and knock on the door many times and as the wall may not really thick I can heard the knocking sound frequently and it’s sound like knocking on my door- I have to check at the door many times. This is not private at all as I expected my stay relax and private .. I did complain to the reception at my check out that at lease they should manage to have all the guests in the same building. This is also effect to the breakfast time which I cannot complain but just too many people and noisy. Not sure if the next time booking should at lease state or inform other guest before booking if it has the wedding like this? I read the review for the hotel and seeing many feedback for the same issue and seems like the hotel cannot manage it. I only get the word “Sorry, and will feedback to the management team”

We spent 5 nights at the Avani + Hotel in Khao Lak. We had 2 double rooms with connecting door for our family. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, the bathroom is big enough. The breakfast was fantastic, but would recommend to come earlier in the morning because around 9:00 AM it is getting crowded and loud. The beach is perfect and there is enough shadow to enjoy it on the sunny/ hot days. They have a small farm where kids can see turtles, salamander, rabbits, feed the fish. The kids room with ping pong, billiard games is a great asset ! We enjoyed it and would definitely recommend this hotel!

The hotel looks great and built in wonderful correspondence with the jungle. There is no doubt that there is truth behind the pictures on Booking and Google. But all this is worth nothing once your vacation is interrupted by an Indian wedding of 300 guests!!!! We stayed 4 days in the season (February-March) and 2 weddings were held during our stay! The relaxed vacation experience is replaced by the loud noise of Indian music that is heard until late at night, the smells of strong spices throughout the day, entire parts of the hotel that are closed for the ceremonies such as the children's pool, the adults' pool and crowds of guests making noise in all areas of the hotel. And if that's not enough, the hotel's policy is very clear - wedding guests are preferred over regular guests. When we arrived, check-in took more than half an hour, they gave us completely different rooms than we booked (six months in advance) on the claim that they had "upgraded" us, but because the hotel was occupied with wedding guests, they had nothing to do with it. The next day we got other rooms that were full of moisture and mold to the point that all the clothes I had in my suitcase got wet and smelled!!!!! Luckily I closed the hotel with an agent and not via Booking and he took care of "fighting our wars" for us and compensation. but unfortunately, despite the compensation we had the experience was terrible! We arrived on vacation with a baby girl, and 2 seniors after busy days in Phuket to relax and it turned out that relaxing was the last thing we did . Not recommend at all. There are plenty of other hotels in Khao Lak that don't perform to the standard of banquet halls.

I would like to rate only the gym, not the hotel, as I am not a hotel guest but a gym member. The gym is generally well-equipped with all the machines. However, it is only recommended for beginners, as it lacks enough professional equipment and the range of weights is too low for advanced athletes. A major drawback of the gym is that it is cooled down too much. This is already in a very unhealthy range because the muscles cool down very quickly, leading to muscle strains. Moreover, it is very bad for the circulation and the body to cool down so deeply when it is very warm outside. I have mentioned this several times at the reception to the gym staff, but it was never taken seriously. Therefore, I can only rate the gym with 3 points.

We loved our stay at Avani+ at Khao Lak - we only wish our stay could have been longer! We initially booked a superior room but before arrival decided to upgrade to a corner deluxe. At check-in we were given a pool-access deluxe which was amazing! We absolutely loved our room - being able to swim in the pool right outside our door was wonderful :) The facilities are great - the pools (my son had a daily routine of going to the beach and then going to each and every pool) were lovely and not too busy which was surprising, especially as we were there over the Christmas period. We also absolutely loved the arcade, basketball court and the climbing wall. We enjoyed the food at the restaurants (we ate at every one and had a drink at every bar) and breakfast was fantastic - such a choice of food!! The trick is to either eat inside (everyone crowds outside) or to not go during peak hours. And lastly, the service was really good. We felt well taken care of by all the staff :)

The best thing about this hotel was the spacious, clean, nicely decorated room. And the fantastic deep massage in the SPA area. The beach is poor, however, nice view from it. The breakfast was terrible. Especially the coffee! One coffee machine for all the guests, long queue, not practical. The Italian restaurant, also poor. The best meal I had there was the Tom Yum soup. The service was very good. I just do not recommend it for long family stays. Also the decor of the hotel corridors, reminded me of the prison design. Not that I know how the prisons looks like ;-) It is just an impression. The hotel is good for couple of nights only.

We had such a good time here! The service was genuinely amazing. They were so welcoming and really make you feel special. The rooms are clean and a decent size but can get quite damp so they need to get dehumidifiers. Food is nice here and I recommend getting the full board package with drinks. The non alcoholic drinks such as the juices and mocktails were really good quality. The beach is nice but not amazing. So if you’re travelling just for the beach then keep this in mind. The resort overall is extremely relaxing and you feel very zen. The spa is very good value and the girls are extremely skilled. Overall I really recommend this hotel and will definitely be back.

The staff throughout this resort particularly in the buffet and pizzeria were so professional and welcoming and friendly. The ladies on the tour desk were great and helped us design some brilliant tours which we will remember for a long time! Though the resort was away from the hustle and bustle the resort showed us how easy it was to get access to everything and we ended up loving that we were able to escape from the crazy when we wanted to and step back into it when we wished. Had a food and bev package which was brilliant.

This is a two stage review. Firstly we were put in the back of the hotel where is feels a bit unloved, you can smell the trash from the corridor and there is zero soundproofing. We were going to leave but complained and moved to the front which feels very different so check in advance where you will be. It's very noisy as the corridors have no sound absorbing material and the doors have gaps allowing the noise in. It's far from anything so would recommend a car which we had and it was a lifesaver. The beach is just coral rocks washjng up on your legs. Breakfast was good but chaotic The only reason I don't rate this lower is because they dealt with my complaint and my daughter loved Som in the kids club But I would not stay here again

It was a fantastic experience. Among all the places I've visited, the condition of the resort was top-notch. I highly recommend going with the all-inclusive option, which covers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. What I want to praise the most is the staff's friendliness. The downside is its distance from the airport, but the hospitality of the staff, along with the dining and pool facilities, are significant advantages. Thank you for creating such memorable memories. I would especially like to express my gratitude to Sunny, Pao, Sal, and Jack, who gifted us with fantastic photos.

Perfectly located on the beach 5 min drive from town centre. Perfect place for the kids. My Niece and Nephew made lots of friends and loved the food. The breakfast was the best iv ever seen in a hotel I had 3 a day 😆 Best view for sunset and lots of daily excursions to be taken up. All staff were extremely nice and helpful. Will be back within the next year. 10/10

This is the perfect place to spend relaxing holidays. The hotel has all the facilities you need, staff is super friendly. There are a lot of tourists but it never felt crowded. A lot of different nationalities. Russian tourists behaved well. The beach is just fantastic even that we had some days with red flags due to big jellyfish. One of the biggest pools in Asia where you can swim easily a 500 m round through clean water. We will definitely come again. In close proximity are cheaper beach bars and also a very nice restaurant (Pam's restaurant) that even arranges a free shuttle.

It is a beautiful hotel with great customer service. The best restaurant was The Drift and the Indian beach buffet. The Italian, and lunch by the beach - very average. We had a lovely stay, however if we had to stay there longer than 4 nights, the hotel was a bit too big for us. The beach is nice, but not wow - great for long walks though + beautiful sunsets. This hotel is great for floating as they have an endless pool! We found that the coffee amount in our room was a problem, every Nespresso capsule given was carefully calculated. Overall, we had a good stay.

We live in Bkk and have traveled with our almost 3yr old to several different resorts. While the others have been good, this was the best experience that we’ve had so far. There are a lot of activities for kids, plenty of water play and beach options, excellent restaurants (Olive should be rated the best Italian restaurant in Thailand), and outstanding service. We can’t say enough about the quality of the service. Staff went above and beyond.

Rooms have been newly renovated and are very pretty & spacious. The bathrooms are pretty too but be cautious about the shower area - they often smell extremely damp. I did tell the plumbing team about it and they tried to fix it but it didn’t work. Housekeeping is really really good and they really do aim to please. Service is amazing. They’re all so friendly and so accommodating, you won’t have any complaints in this area. The beach is incredible. Beautiful views and comfortable sun beds. The resort is extremely big and there’s lots to do but it’s also quite expensive to do activities. Food is okay, nothing amazing and I think this is one thing that really needs to be improved. Even the pastries at breakfast are not great. For a JW Marriott property, I was expecting better. There’s also A LOT of mosquitos on this property so do ensure you wear repellent often. Even though we had a couple of issues, overall, we really enjoyed our stay here.

All the reviews will tell you about its major features, but it was the small things that made the Sarojin stand out for me. Sunbeds were made up ready with an extra towel, iced water was brought to you continually to keep you cool, lemongrass mosquito sprays were placed on every table, the WiFi worked on the beach, complimentary breakfast was available all day and so much more. Whilst the accommodation, bars restaurants and gardens are all beautifully crafted, the Sarojin for me was made so enjoyable as it was designed with customer service in mind. Practically flawless. Well done to the team who looked after us so well.

What an exceptional place. The most relaxing hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff are delightful and Kade runs the hotel incredibly well with just the right mix of friendliness and respect for the guests. The rooms are fantastic and the beautiful grounds just make the hotel an oasis of calm. The restaurants serve excellent food and the beach is idyllic although jellyfish were there on our trip but that’s just one of those things. The trips were truly memorable - Similan Islands and an amazing cooking course with Gett the chef. Really could not fault a thing. Top notch hotel and would totally recommend

Absolutely stunning hotel with beautiful gardens, rooms and a private beach access. One of the best hotels we have ever been to and certainly a highlight during our Asia trip. The breakfast was an incredible start for each day. The staff is very attentive and helpful and even altered the room for us upon request. All in all, perfect for a relaxing stay. We would absolutely come back and can highly recommend the Sarojin.

A fantastic place to spend the last week of our honeymoon. Every staff member we interacted with was extremely friendly and helpful. We upgraded to the Jacuzzi suite and it was so worth it, the room was enormous and absolutely stunning. The beach and pool are both beautiful and very close by to the rooms. Every meal we had here was incredible. Also so much wildlife is around the hotel, we saw many water monitor lizards and frogs. The highlight had to be the boat trip on the lady Sarojin though, we went out to the similan islands to snorkel and we loved it so much we booked after trip for 2 days later! Definitely worth doing if you're visiting here. Fantastic hotel, would highly recommend

A fantastic holiday We traveled without children with friends of us and had booked accommodation inclusive breakfast in a room with a private pool for two weeks. We've been to some amazing places in the world, but this vacation at The Sarojin, Khao Lak, Thailand was outstanding. A hotel complex nestled in a pond landscape with the villas arranged on the right and left in such a way that they are almost invisible made a great impression upon arrival. There is water and even watermelon in the afternoon, and the loungers are straightened, and the towels are replaced. Fresh water showers are available after swimming in the sea, and there is even a separate area for smokers. We booked the boat trip offered by the hotel and a Thai cooking class.
