Stay the night at 4* Centro Olaya by Rotana or similar.

Day 2 – Riyadh City Tour

Begin your exploration of Saudi at the King Abdul Aziz Historical Area, home to the National Museum of Saudi Arabia and the Murabba Palace. You will then travel to Masmak Fortress, before heading to the modern part of Riyadh, where you’ll get to see the stunning Al Faisaliah and Kingdom Towers and have the chance to enjoy views from one of the towers. In the afternoon, you will make a stop at the old walled city of Al Dir’iyah, which was the first capital of the Saudi kingdom in the 18th century, and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Stay the night at 4* Centro Olaya by Rotana or similar.

Day 3 – Riyadh and Tabuk

Fly from Riyadh to Tabuk. On arrival in Tabuk you’ll visit the old Hejaz railway station, which was originally built by the Ottomans to reduce travel time for pilgrims heading to Mecca from Damascus. The track was never finished, with the line ending in Medina.

Stay the night at 4* Centro Olaya by Rotana or similar.

Day 4 – Tabuk, Jebel al-Lawz, Wadi Damm and Jebel Hisma

Enjoy a full day 4x4 excursion taking in Jebel Al Lawz, Wadi Damm and Jebel Hisma. Jebel Al Lawz, which translates as Almond Mountain in Arabic, is a sublime spot to enjoy views of the sea from around 2,000 metres up. Wadi Damm and Jebel Hisma offer more spectacular scenery, with a number of incredible rock formations to be found dotted across the desert.

Stay the night at 4* Swiss international or similar.

Day 5 – Tabuk, Tayma and Al ‘Ula

After leaving Tabuk you will make a stop at the Haddaj well, in Tayma. The ancient well is thought to be more than 2,500 years old and use to feature a number of pulleys that were operated by camels to extract water. The water then travelled along small channels to farmland nearby. Following your stop in Tayma, you will continue on to Al ‘Ula.

Stay the night at Sahary Desert Resort or similar.

Day 6 – Al ‘Ula, Hegra and Dedan

Spend a day exploring the wondrous archaeological treasures in Al ‘Ula, Dedan and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hegra. Hegra is the second city of the Nabateans, after Petra in Jordan. The remains of the city include more than 90 tombs carved into the rock. Dedan is another ancient site. Despite only 4 per cent being excavated, the structure of the city is clearly visible and provides a fascinating insight into Saudi’s past.

Stay the night at Sahary Desert Resort or similar.

Day 7 – Al ‘Ula

Explore Old Town Al ‘Ula, following the well-trodden path of pilgrims around this 12th century settlement, which was built out of mud. Al ‘Ula Oasis awaits in the afternoon. Made up of more than 2 million palm trees, it’s the perfect spot for a leisurely walk. At sunset, it’s on to Elephant Rock to take in the enchanting scenery as the light fades.

Stay the night at Sahary Desert Resort or similar.

Day 8 – Al ‘Ula and Medina

Depart Al ‘Ula for Medina, travelling partly on the old Hejaz Railway, which was made famous by T.E. Lawrence’s attacks and sabotage on the line during the First World War. When you arrive in Medina you will get the chance to walk through what is one of Islam’s holiest cities and a key destination for pilgrims who travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj or Umrah. A visit to Mount Uhud is next on the itinerary, where you will get to enjoy wonderful views over Medina.

Stay the night at 4* Jewar Al Saqefa or similar.

Day 9 – Medina and Jeddah

Leave Medina for Jeddah, travelling along the scenic Red Sea coast. During your journey you’ll stop to enjoy a local lunch, as well as having the option to go snorkelling in the crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea.

Stay the night at 4* Centro Shaheen by Rotana or similar.

Day 10 – Jeddah

Your day starts with a visit to the historic Al Balad area of Jeddah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can explore the narrow lanes and discover the traditional merchant houses and Souq Al Alawi, Saudi’s largest bazaar and an excellent place to discover authentic wares. In the afternoon you’ll head over to the city’s Corniche to enjoy the coastal scenery and impressive sculptures that line the waterfront. You will also get to see the stunning Al Rahma Mosque, which is built over the sea and known as the floating mosque.

Stay the night at 4* Centro Shaheen by Rotana or similar.
