I've been traveling over the past few years, and I can confidently say this hotel is truly REMARKABLE!! From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional
I’d especially like to commend the reception team — the first receptionist who accommodated us was incredibly helpful and allowed us to check in well before the scheduled time, which we really appreciated. That kind of flexibility is rare and made a big difference.
Also, a big shoutout to the Omani staff member who was not only very friendly but also shared a lovely conversation with us — turns out his wife is based in Dubai, just like us! It’s those personal touches and genuine interactions that make a place feel welcoming and memorable.
Customer service and hospitality here are top-notch. Kudos to the entire team — we’ll definitely be back!

I had a wonderful experience at the hotel — the facilities, staff, and overall ambiance truly made for a memorable stay. Everything was well-maintained and professionally managed.
The only issue I encountered was the presence of some individuals from the surrounding area who were not guests but seemed to roam around the premises and occasionally behave inappropriately, especially by flirting with other guests. I hope the hotel management will consider implementing measures to better control access and ensure the privacy and comfort of their guests.

Barcelo Mussanah is a very good property and is our to go place. We have always had great stay here anytime we are here. However this time, we had a very unpleasant experience in the Spa. My sister and I booked a 90-minute spa session as in-house guests, yesterday and unfortunately, our experience left us feeling a bit shortchanged.
Our massage began promptly at 4:50 PM but concluded by 5:50 PM. When we inquired about the remaining 30 minutes of our booked time, we were informed by the masseuse that 10 minutes was allocated for "rest."
While a brief period for relaxation post-massage is understandable, this explanation still leaves 20 minutes unaccounted for from our 90-minute booking. We had anticipated a full 90 minutes of treatment, and the discrepancy significantly impacted our overall satisfaction. It's disappointing when the service duration doesn't align with what was advertised and paid for. We believe that if "rest time" is part of the service, it should be clearly communicated upfront or factored into the actual treatment time, rather than presented as an explanation for a shortened session.
This is a request for the management to work on the integrity of the staff to provide services as mentioned and what is being paid for.
Suggestion: Please put a wall clock in Spa rooms so that guests can also check by themselves on the timings of the sessions. Regards.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Excellent facilities, very comfy rooms, delicious food and very friendly, helpful staff. Would highly recommend, especially for those who want to stay in a resort and not venture too far from the hotel. Very reasonable rates on the water sports and the grocery store was incredibly priced compared to the UK! Would love to visit again.

Exceptional Family Experience at Barcelo Hotel!
I had a truly wonderful stay at Barcelo Hotel with my family. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and treated with such kindness and professionalism by the staff. The service was outstanding throughout our stay – everyone was attentive, helpful, and genuinely caring.
One of the highlights of our visit was how family-friendly the hotel is. The children’s swimming pool was clean and very safe, with staff always present and attentive to ensure the safety of the little ones – which gave us great peace of mind as parents.
The rooms were clean, spacious, and offered the most breathtaking view of the ocean – waking up to that view was simply unforgettable. I also had some of the best sleep I’ve had in a long time – the bed was very comfortable, and the whole environment was calm and peaceful.
We also appreciated the secure and convenient parking, which made things even easier for us.
Overall, our stay at Barcelo Hotel was beyond our expectations. I highly recommend it to families or anyone looking for a relaxing, safe, and beautiful place to stay. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Wonderful hotel. Great beach (with calm waves great for a young child) and great facilities. Excellent breakfast buffet at the kitchen. We also enjoyed their afternoon tea service. Excellent customer care. Free parking under. Excellent gym. Definitely what a five star hotel should be. The only negative was its location, which is behind a traffic circle that backs up. Otherwise, would definitely recommend an every other way. Also close to the Al Mouj neighborhood with all of its amenities and restaurants.

A Perfect Ending to Our Oman Trip – Truly Exceptional!
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Kempinski Muscat for the last night of our trip to Oman, and we were absolutely blown away. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the professional and seamless guest service. The staff is incredibly friendly – almost unbelievably so – and made us feel genuinely welcomed.
A key factor for us when choosing a hotel is the gym, and the fitness center here exceeded our expectations. It was well-equipped, clean, and perfect for a solid workout.
In the evening, we were amazed by the buffet – it was exceptional in every sense. The quality was top-notch, the presentation was stunning, and the flavors were a delight. We especially appreciated the thoughtful blend of European and Oriental cuisine.
To top it off, we had the unique opportunity to spend part of the evening at the table with the head chef. He was an absolute pleasure to meet and made the experience even more memorable.
If we ever return to Oman, Kempinski Muscat will definitely be our first choice.

The bed was extremely comfortable, and the amenities provided—from high-quality toiletries to a well-stocked minibar—added a touch of luxury to the stay. I particularly appreciated the soundproofing, which ensured a peaceful night’s rest.
The service at Bukhara is where the hotel truly shines. Every staff member, from the front desk to housekeeping, was courteous, prompt, and eager to assist. Room service was efficient, and any requests were addressed swiftly and politely.

Together with my husband we spent 6 days at the Shangri-La Al Husn in Muscat. Before getting to the hotel we received a mail from a lovely French lady who is responsible for guest relationship. Excellent! We were able to convey all our plans and also needs to this lady who then organized and booked all our restaurants. We also asked for a room upgrade and were so spoilt to spend a week in such a lovely large room!!

It took us a while to unwind and fall into our daily routine of either going to the beach or pool and being pampered by all the wonderful staff bringing us coolboxes with water, Evian water cooled face spray and juices.
We also experienced baby turtles being set off to fend for themselves. Quite incredible.
Restaurants are fine. There are quite a few options.
We used the lazy river which I am sorry to say was rather dirty. The sister hotels: Al Bandar and Al Waha felt overwhelmingly full and truly of lesser quality.
Overall I am quite certain that we will return to the Shangri-La Al Husn or another Shangri-La somewhere else.

We are giving a full 5-star rating without hesitation because this resort offers everything you would expect from a high-end, adults-only, beachfront hotel.
We stayed for about a week in January. The days were pleasantly warm, while the evenings were a bit cooler. Throughout our stay, the staff was consistently courteous, friendly, and attentive. We felt recognized and well taken care of.
Although the hotel is not brand new, it is impeccably maintained. The rooms are spacious, elegantly furnished, and serviced to the highest standard. The entire property is beautifully landscaped and meticulously cared for.
Breakfast is outstanding—great variety, excellent quality, and incredibly friendly, attentive staff. Enjoying breakfast on the terrace was always a pleasure. The happy hours, including afternoon tea and evening drinks with delicious bites, were a daily highlight.
The pool is large and perfect for swimming, while the hotel’s private beaches are pristine and well-maintained. The service at both the pool and beach areas is equally outstanding, with staff always ready to assist.
Final Verdict: We felt completely at ease and will definitely return on our next trip to Oman. Highly recommended!

My stay at Shangri-La Al husn was extremely comfortable and pleasant. The rooms were impeccably clean, and the service was truly outstanding. The staff were highly cooperative and remarkably flexible. Every day from 6:00 to 7:00 PM, the hotel offered a delightful happy hour with live music and complimentary beverages.
The hotel also features luxurious restaurants on the lower levels, offering a variety of wonderful and unique promotions. Among them are a Moroccan restaurant and a seafood restaurant. Breakfast was included in the stay and was of excellent quality.
All hotel staff and employees provided warm and gracious hospitality. Although the location is quite far from the airport, the exceptional service more than made up for it. The beach experience was also thoroughly enjoyable, and the frankincense massage offered at the spa was truly exceptional.
Overall, it was a very special and delightful experience. I highly recommend this hotel.

the view from the balcony is another story of beauty

The rooms were super comfy and clean. The resort itself is spacious, with several pools, plus a private pool, gym, and spa—which was a great bonus.
That said, the place could use some upgrading. Service wasn’t up to standard, especially considering the prices. The restaurant had okay food, but it was overpriced for what it was—Michelin star rates without the experience. It felt like we were being served by someone still in training.
Breakfast had a good selection and tasted fine, but the atmosphere felt rushed. The staff seemed constantly stressed, which impacted the overall vibe.
Overall, it was a good stay. I’d consider coming back if service improves.

I had a truly wonderful stay at The Chedi Muscat. The hotel is incredibly spacious, giving a unique sense of calm and openness—you feel like you’re in a palace built within a vast, beautifully designed space.
The three pools, especially the iconic Long Pool, made every moment by the water a pleasure. I was particularly impressed by the gym: modern, well-equipped, and beautifully arranged. As a fan of Pilates, I was thrilled to find a reformer machine available—such a rare and thoughtful touch.
Our room was large, elegant, and very comfortable. We chose to have breakfast at the hotel every day, and it was a highlight of the stay—varied, abundant, and full of delicious international and local specialties.
I could go on and on about the architecture and design, but what truly made this stay exceptional was the staff. I’ve visited many hotels around the world, but I’ve never experienced hospitality quite like this. Every team member was smiling, kind, and genuinely helpful. They made us feel not like guests, but like friends at home. The personal recommendations and warmth they shared will stay with me for a long time.

The Chedi in Muscat is a beautiful and relaxing hotel. However, a horrendous nickel and dime and evidently dated hotel.
We paid £900 per night for the room and the views; and it didn’t disappoint.
However £9 for a cappuccino, £7 for a tonic water and £15 for a pint of beer. Just honestly taking the p*ss. Inclusive buffet doesn’t include soft drinks or coffee and they will hit you hard for it…. Really hard.
Restaurants were very pleasant service but the food was below average, at least £50 per person, before drinks.
The hotel is a family destination with kids everywhere, something to note if you’re NOT a family travelling.
Clearly USED to be a first class hotel (why all their awards are 7-8 years old) and now run down and become a cheaper experience of skinning you for everything, which left such a sour taste in our mouths.
The Chedi in Muscat was our first hotel and is streaks ahead in service, food, decor and food experience.
Worth noting that our expectations were high as we spent a lot of money on the room and are staying at other top hotels in the country during our stay. No doubt the majority will love it.

I'd just stopped by to see the hotel. Location was good and just by the canyon, giving nice views of the canyon and the open skies. This being a luxury hotel, the service and rooms are expected to be top class. Some famous observation and picture points are within the hotel premises.

Incredible hotel!! One of our favorite stays ever. Everything was perfect - from the beautiful grounds and stunning views, to the extremely kind and hospitable staff, to the cozy and well appointed rooms. My husband and I were visiting from New York and stayed here for 3 nights in a villa with a private plunge pool, which was beautiful. We didn't want our stay to end!
The food at every restaurant was delicious, and the coffee was the best we had in Oman. We also did the Via Ferrata experience which is something we'll never forget - special shoutout to Hasan for being an amazing instructor and being so patient with us! There were so many other staff members that stood out like Hassan, Rami, Rai, and Hadi. They were all so kind and helpful with anything you could possibly need.
Highly recommend staying at the Anantara if you are planning on visiting Jabal Akhdar!

I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment I arrived. The entire place had a great vibe—clean, cozy, and beautifully maintained. The food was excellent, with delicious options that really added to the experience.
A special thank you to Restaurant Manager RUSIRU, waiter TIRTHA, and housekeeper VAMSLI, who made my stay even more special with their outstanding service and kindness. I truly appreciate their efforts and attention to detail.
I would love to come back again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable and relaxing stay!!!

The location of the hotel is excellent.
However, the property is in need of renovation and no longer lives up to a 5-star standard. The room I stayed in required maintenance: the ironing board was broken, the wardrobe light kept flickering, the coffee machine didn’t work, and there were mold spots on the washbasin — all of which were disappointing.
The food was underwhelming; many city restaurants offer far better taste and quality.
That said, the staff were excellent — warm, professional, and always willing to help.
Unfortunately, given the overall experience, it didn’t feel worth the price.

We stayed in Al Bandar as a family of four from London over the Easter holidays.
The property itself is in a beautiful location nestled amongst the mountains, the drive to and from was an experience.
Service standards were high and staff were always happy to help. Shout out to the pool guy!
We enjoyed using the several pools and never felt that it was overcrowded.
Poolside menu/ room service was quick and there was a wide choice of dishes to choose from.
Rooms are a bit dated, however bed is huge and rooms are cleaned well.
Tips
There is a 24hr clinic/Dr on site.
Ground floor rooms will give direct and easy access via patio to pools/beach.
There is a shuttle bus that takes you to the mall and souk. It can get busy so pre book seats. We never used it as we loved the hotel!
Not much else close by to the hotel, therefore useful to have your own car incase you need to leave. (We ran out of baby wipes!)
Overall a wonderful stay, thank you.

Rooms are outdated after 20 years. Restaurants needs to be upgraded and bring on new good chefs. Too much emphasis on subcontinent food! Towels are old. I ordered food on the beach and the plates were left there on the table until late next day!!! Breakfast buffet is OK but yet again, the chefs are not up to five star standards. The beach activities are very good. The local in the reception at time of check in would fit to work in a morgue, sorry but this is true. He was not accommodating at all. I would come back only if the hotel is refurbished. New resorts with similar beaches are competing.

We recently stayed for 10 days with all our family and had the most amazing time. We were so impressed by the high standard of the hotel. All the staff were wonderful, professional, friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Our room was serviced by Danish, who checked in with us that we were happy and if we wanted anything. The breakfast was wonderful, a huge choice of foods. managed by Ali and team the samba restaurant was fantastic - and other restaurants were a high standard too! Fantastic holiday ! Thank you and can’t wait to come back soon
