Flights: You can fly to Abu Dhabi International Airport direct from Manchester Airport and from most London Airports. Other UK airports may include a stop off en-route.

Passport/visa requirements: Your Passport must be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date you enter the United Arab Emirates. You will be granted a visa free of charge for a single visit of 30 days upon arrival in Abu Dhabi.

Packing essentials:Al Ain enjoys fantastic weather all year round, so important items to bring with you should include light clothing, sunglasses, sunscreen lotion, bug repellent, sandals and a sun hat. Dress code dictates that women should ensure their shoulders and knees are covered at all times.

A myriad of luxury hotels and resorts provide opulent bases for setting out to discover the wonders of this Arabian Gulf escape which is overlooked by the craggy mountain of Jabel Hafeet.

The United Arab Emirate’s best kept secret is dubbed the Garden City for good reason – this bewitching oasis of water and greenery in the desert will take your breath away.

Al Ain, which was once a lush green oasis on the caravan route from UAE is now a spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Al Ain Oasis is a 1200-hectare peaceful retreat where you can escape the hustle and bustle of life, surrounded by 147,000 date palm trees, more than 100 different varieties of vegetation, exotic birds and amazing relics of the past, including an ancient Bedouin irrigation system.

Al Ain Zoo is a fabulous attraction for families, with lions, tigers, jaguars, giraffes, gazelles and monkeys among the creatures to delight young visitors.

A splashing time is assured at Wadi Adventure Park, which features the world’s largest artificial surfing wave, and also delivers surfing, kayaking and white water rafting thrills.

Another wonderful attraction for children is Hili Fun City where more than 40 rides will provide hours of fun for the little ones.

Al Ain National Museum is a captivating attraction which truly brings the culture, history and heritage of the UAE to life, while Al Ain Palace Museum is the former residence of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, who became the first ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The impressive Al-Jahili Fort, which dates back to 1891 and offers incredible views from its ramparts and 50-foot watchtowers, is definitely worth a visit. Qasr al Muwaiji is another imposing fort which has been restored to its former glory.

Hili Archaeological Park is the location where the incredible finds date back to the Bronze and Iron ages, including Umm Al Nar period tombs.

Other popular attractions in Al Ain include the hot spring pools of Mubazzarah Park, a 10km camel racing track in the suburb of Al Dahir and jeep drives to the summit of Jebel Hafeet, which offers jaw-dropping panoramic views.

There’s plenty to tantalise your taste buds in Al Ain, with traditional Arabic dishes such as chicken machboos and khuzi among the delights in superb restaurants and cafes. Lebanese cuisine is also very popular, with halloumi platters and hot mezze which will satisfy the most discerning palate.

For some retail therapy you can barter for a bargain in the colourful Al Ain Souk or treat yourself to some high-end purchases in a range of excellent shopping malls, including Al Ain Mall, Bawari Mall and Al Foah Mall.


Al Ain Weather


Al Ain has a hot desert climate which results in extremely hot summers and warm winters.

It enjoys glorious sunshine all year round, but temperatures are excessively hot in June to August, with the months of October to April being a much more appealing time to visit.

The average temperature in Al Ain is 28°C and the warmest month of the year is July, with an average temperature of 36.4°C. There is minimal rainfall, with a mean annual average of just 96 mm.

Adequate protection from the sun is essential throughout any holiday in Al Ain.
