Staff are kind and caring - with a massive shoutout to Izwan (who was always looking out for us and made us feel special). The breakfast was varied and delicious. The best part was the swimming pool with an incredible view of the sea. Overall a 5 star experience for a couple. Would truly recommend

My friend & I stayed at the Westin for a week. We totally enjoyed every minute. Staff were friendly, food was delicious, the location was amazing. We had such a relaxing holiday. Great location for a secluded holiday, impressive service and amazing food! We had an absolute memorable time right from check in to check out. Very courteous service, fantastic bars and restaurants, good pool areas for everyone and a private beach. If one thing I would have liked better is the beach, it’s more a lagoon and water level goes down by evening exposing the swampy land below. The best highlight for us was the Indian kitchen, the chef’s delighted us with our food of choice and all the preparations we had were lip smacking yummy. A special mention to Chef Mahesh for the great dinners. Hope to be back again soon.

I recently stayed in one of their Rainforest Chalets, and it was a truly relaxing and memorable experience. Nestled in the lush greenery of the rainforest, the chalet offered a peaceful escape surrounded by nature’s sounds – perfect for unwinding. The chalet had a warm, rustic charm with a private balcony that opened up to the forest. Inside, it was clean and comfortable, with modern amenities like air conditioning and a spacious bathroom. The wooden floorboards were very creaky, which was noticeable once you walk on it, especially at night, but it added to the old-world feel of the place. One small but thoughtful gesture really stood out – a staff member came by to restock the minibar without us even asking, and when he noticed we don’t drink alcohol, he kindly offered to replace the beers with soft drinks instead. That level of attentiveness and flexibility really added a personal touch to our stay. The resort itself is large and beautifully maintained, with convenient shuttle service to get around. The staff throughout were friendly and welcoming, always ready to help. Overall, I’d definitely recommend the Rainforest Chalet at Berjaya Resort for anyone looking for a nature-immersed retreat with great service and comfort – just be prepared for a few creaks and quirks that come with staying in the heart of the rainforest.

Family of 4, 7-night stay over Easter 2025. We booked a family 2-bedroom suite through Booking.com, but at check-in, the reservation was not recognized, and we were given interconnecting rooms instead—different from what we had paid for. After discussing with management, several hours later they offered us an over-water villa with a single suite and extra beds in the sitting area. While not what we originally expected, this was a welcome & thankful improvement. Staffing levels seemed insufficient for the number of guests, leading to long wait times at the restaurants. Although the food quality was good and reasonably priced, service delays were frustrating. The villas themselves showed signs of wear and required refurbishment and better maintenance. Additionally, the WiFi was unreliable and spotty throughout our stay. We noticed some health and safety concerns around the beach and pool areas, particularly sharp edges near water drainage grates. It was also disappointing to see sports center staff smoking while organizing activities like banana boat rentals. On a positive note, the beach area was pleasant and contributed to a relaxing holiday overall. Despite the peaceful environment and good food, the combination of service issues, maintenance needs, and safety concerns means we would not choose to return.

Special mentioned to Assistant Manager Hafi. He is very patient and client centric. He listened attentively and understood customer needs. The resort must be very proud to have a staff member like him. The room is clean and staff are very smiley, well mannered and helpful. Large varieties of breakfast spread. The Thai restaurant ambiance is great. the food portion is small, though, but very tasty. Wifi reception and TV signal quality can be improved. It's not a place to see full sunrise as it is blocked by hills, but still, a place able to catch an awesome sunset. Overall, it is great because of the human touch and services. Kudos to Mr. Hafi again. I will be back here again!

It’s been awhile since i visited any Berjaya hotels. enjoyed my stay at the rainforest chalet. Near the main building, which was good for a short walk during peak periods. The private beach was a nice spot for sunbathing and a refreshing dip. housekeeping staff were also prompt and friendly. Would return!

Great Stay with Beautiful Views and Top-Notch Service with a Personal Touch!! Our room was spacious, spotless, and tastefully decorated. Highlight was the amazing sea view. Both swimming pools were amazing. The infinity pool had the best ocean view, especially during sunset. The lower pool was perfect for relaxing and enjoying with kids. Everything was clean and well taken care of. Breakfast had a good mix of local and international food. The restaurant staff were genuinely kind and helpful, always smiling and ready to assist. I especially loved the calm atmosphere, and the quiet beach just steps away. It felt like a real escape from the busy world. Everything about this resort impressed us. Can’t wait to come back.

We recently stayed at PARKROYAL Langkawi and had a truly memorable experience. We booked an ocean view room and are so glad we did — the view was absolutely stunning and worth every bit. The room itself was modern, beautifully designed, and spotlessly clean, with a spacious bathroom and a balcony perfect for unwinding. We especially appreciated the ceiling fan, which was a nice touch to keep things cool without relying solely on air conditioning. The pool area is a standout feature — large, inviting, and overlooking the ocean. There’s also a bar and a stylish lounge area, where you can relax during the day or enjoy live music in the evenings, which added a really nice atmosphere to our stay. The food was another highlight. Breakfast offered a generous and diverse spread, and both lunch and dinner menus were equally impressive — delicious dishes with plenty of variety. The location of the resort is excellent, offering easy access to local attractions while still feeling like a peaceful escape. If there’s one area for improvement, it would be the pool lounge chairs. Unfortunately, they were quite uncomfortable — more like outdated deck chairs than what you’d expect at a 5-star resort. It would really elevate the poolside experience if these were upgraded to more modern, cushioned loungers like those at comparable properties. Aside from that, everything else was exceptional. Everything at this resort is brand new, squeaky clean and high-end. We got the ocean view rooms, and the view from the balcony was absolutely worth it. The pool and beach area is ideal for the kids, and the restaurants are pretty good. A bunch of shops within walking distance as well, including car and bike rentals. The staff is extremely helpful and everyone speaks English. Great experience overall!

5 Star hardware, rooms are amazing! We are staying at the sea view rooms 60 square meters, super spacious. But the service is just not there, start from when we arrived at the hotel no staff attended to us that we have to move our own luggages, drinking expired coconut water at the pool bar, then nothing available on the dessert menu from the restaurant to pina colada taste like weird pineapple juice with no coconut milk/cream in it. The management team really need to do some revolutionary change otherwise this hotel is going no where, all the luxury design and built is wasted.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel! The ambiance was absolutely superb, with every corner reflecting elegance and comfort. We spent a week here recovering from from an active couple of weeks in Borneo and Penang and found it to be the perfect place to relax and unwind. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spotlessly clean, recently refurbished and the bed was very comfortable. Housekeeping was very enthuiastic - everything was replenised promptly (we ended up with 16 unused litre bottles of water, despite drinking about 4 a day!) Thre main restaurant served a good range of international dishes or, if you prefer a buffet, the Spice Market had an extensive array of Malaysian food. As the weather was unusually dry for this time of year we were able to eat all of our meals outside next to the beach. The pool is amazing - huge, clean and with masses of sunbeds and parasols. The bar stff give you a buzzer to call for drinks and the children's pool is full of water features. We were slightly bemused by the "It's always dangerous to swim in the sea" notices but we did anyway and we lived to tell the tale (as did everyone else!) We did have a minor issue while we were there but the management dealt with it effectively which is always the sign of a good hotel and didn't impact on the quality of our stay there. Finally, I just need to reassure anyone who has looked the the proximity of the hotel to the end of the airport runway and wondered about aircfaft noise - there is - however there are only a dozen or so flights a day in and out and you only hear the noise of those taking off for a few seconds and even then it's not excessive - it's actually something to watch and far less intrusive than jet skis and power boats that plage some beach resorts. In summary - this is an excellent hotel which I cannot fault in any respect and I can recommend it without reservation.

The resort is a destination not just a hotel. There are a salt water pool, one fresh water lake, one fresh water pool within the resort to with a huge private beach curving throughout the boundary with one side being very quite if you prefer hanging out with just the people you’re with and the other side more public as it’s attached to the neighboring resort. Rooms are designed as Huts each with 4 rooms 2 on ground and 2 on upper floor so it’s an ideal stay if you have a family (you can occupy a whole hut with 4 rooms each room with balconies opening either towards Pool or Beach depending on room number) There’s a small zoo as well with some goats, swans, ducks etc but it was being renovated when i stayed there and i was told they are adding more animals soon. Breakfast is amazing with a huge variety of all sorts of cuisine. The nearby market has Arabic, Malay (Local), Indian restaurants and is really enjoyable to walk through in the evening through night with a lot of small shops, massage parlors and 7/11 etc.

Value for money, this hotel is great. You can’t beat the prices for a mid level 5 star hotel like this one. The pools have all been renovated which help a lot. Breakfast is great with both western and Asian options. My partner and I reallly enjoyed it. Location is great as well with sunset views and a great beach near local restaurants. Room is big and bathroom storage room is massive too. Adding an aerial photo to see the expansion of the hotel.

We had a lovely stay at the St Regis. We booked the Penthouse Suite and were really impressed by the property and the overall service. The team was kind enough to arrange a complimentary pick up and drop off. The butler service was extraordinary and certainly made us feel more pampered. The property itself is amazing. The living room was large with breathtaking views of the sea and nearby islands. The deck is well furnished and can accommodate many people - it is also overlooking the property gardens and the beach. The main restaurant in the hotel has lot of options and will also take requests. They also have a fine dining restaurant which is on top of the water and a great sunsent view. The only downside is that the beach seems to be from reclaimed land and seemed more like a swamp with no waves. I didn't see anyone going into the water for a swim. If you're looking for a relaxing holiday with good food, great service and scenic views, this is a great place. However, if you want to go in the sea for a swim, it might be better to look for a different property.

The staffs as always are very attentive with laser focused services. The room is of a decent size and with a great view to the beach. Had a really good time when visited in October. Started off with some issues, but the staff was quick to fix the issue. Overall staff were really good! The food was amazing as I'm sure you can tell from the photos. Did a cooking lesson, not amazing, but it was entertaining enough and we had fun. The drinks were also great and we enjoyed our time in the decanter room for afternoon drinks. Massage treatments were great. Bit on the pricey side, but that's to be expected at a hotel like this. Overall, it was a great experience, and we will be back again.

Having stayed at The Datai Langkawi and being a regular at The Ritz-Carlton, I found The Danna Langkawi to be a fantastic alternative for those seeking a luxury resort experience in Langkawi. The hotel offers a calm, protected beach, a scenic poolside and beautiful interior design, all perfect for relaxation. We stayed in the Marina 4 Bay Suite, an ultra-luxurious suite offering impressive space and amenities. The suite featured a formal and informal dining room, a spacious living room, a full-service kitchen, two bedrooms, a private pool, sauna, and even a workout space. The suite was exceptional value for money, in comparison to what was offered at other peer resorts. Service at The Danna Langkawi was impeccable. The staff were attentive, warm, and always went the extra mile to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Their personalised service truly made us feel valued throughout our stay. The location is great, with Cenang, Kuah, Langkawi International Airport, and Tanjung Rhu all easily accessible. They also have great dining options in the hotel itself. We truly enjoyed our stay at The Danna Langkawi and would happily return, especially to try one of their beach villas next time.

One of the best 5 star hotels I have stayed in. Everything was perfect. It was funny though when I booked the Terrace for tea. I asked about my attire as I had a silk flowery coord, shorts and a short sleeved shirt. My Mrs had a lovely dress on. Receiption checked and said it was okay. On arrival I got told no shorts so they gave me some linen pants. And my Mrs had to wear a shawl as the gorgeous dress she was wearing was too revealing. Then when we were eating they had kids in there wearing sports shorts and t shirts. Food was amazing so we just laughed.

Having travelled extensively across SE Asia over several years, The Datai is outstanding. The thing that makes this hotel standout is the service from everyone at the hotel - from the gardeners, to the drivers, cleaners and obviously the waiting staff. Hand made chocolates in the room each nice were amazing. I have to also congratulate the pastry chef who produced better morning croissants than any hotel we’ve stayed at (including in Paris). The rotis were great too. The sustainability efforts this hotel makes are also incredible. Zero waste to landfill and even using special processes to use plastic as a compost. Craft centre built from old wine bottles. We travelled as a family of 3 with a 6 year old. Worth noting that kids cannot use the main pool at the top, but can use the smaller family pool by the beach. The beach pool felt a little crowded but to be expected during Easter holidays and there was more than enough space on the enormous beach. It would’ve been nice to use the larger pool but understand adults want peace and quiet. The beach was stunning with food and drinks served. Kids also cannot use the main bar after 8pm, which I think was a shame for those children who are well behaved / quiet - we usually enjoy a family card game and a cocktail after dinner in the bar. It would be great if the hotel would reconsider this policy. For anyone that appreciates architecture, this hotel is one to see. Considering it was built in 1993, its timeless design should still look great in years to come. Activities were good, but quite limited. I tried to book rainforest walks etc. but they were all booked up unfortunately. Would’ve been nice to be able to book more private activities rather than rely on space being available in group sessions. Something I’d like the hotel to offer in the future, if possible. We stayed at the Four Seasons Langkawi afterwards but preferred the Datai due to more authentic design, character and personality. The FS did have a kids club, which was better, but the Datai did offer kids film nights and some supervised activities during the day, but not a full-on kids club. Overall a wonderful stay and the only hotel I’ve ever felt home sick after leaving - we’ll be back!

Our vacation at The Datai was one for the books. The resort had exceptional service, accommodation and food, but what really stood out was their commitment to sustainability. The wildlife in the area aren’t aggressive and it’s obvious that they aren’t fed by humans to keep coming back to the area. The highlights of our trip were the morning and evening nature walks where the guides were knowledgeable and passionate about the grounds. Overall, a great trip that we’d repeat over and over again. Undoubtedly one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The location and setting is just stunning, set in the middle of a rainforest, on the most beautiful beach. There are monkeys and wildlife everywhere you look. The service is next level, with the most friendly and attentive staff - even someone offering to clean your sunglasses on the beach. The rooms are huge, the food is delicious, I honestly can't fault it.

If you have an itch to visit Malaysia, you’ll have no shortage of choices to places to see. After much research, The Missus decided on Langkawi – one of the islands off the north coast of mainland Malaysia. She’s a ninja when it comes to finding amazing places to visit and stay, and the Ritz-Carlton resort on Langkawi certainly ticked the ‘amazing’ box. Set in the rainforest on the Andaman Sea, the resort sprawls across more than 100 acres and offers a serene and private white-sand beach. Amenities include a gym, a luxurious spa, three restaurants, one buffet-style restaurant, four pools (including an infinity pool and a splash zone for children) and, of course, the beach – with its own little beach bar. The resort offers accommodations of all types, with more than 115 rooms. From the moment you arrive, you are treated like an A-list celebrity. After a mildly sweaty journey from the airport, we arrived and were immediately taken to an outdoor area to check in. Frando presented us with trays with cool, lemongrass-scented towels, snacks and a refreshing tea while he handled check-in. The towels were a nice touch, and they worked wonders on making us feel refreshed and reinvigorated. Given the resort’s size, the usual method of transport is via electric buggies – which are 6-seat, upscale golf carts. All staff are attentive, friendly, and always willing to answer questions about the history of Malaysia and of Langkawi. Daniel, who wound up driving us several times to various places in the resort during our stay, was a fantastic host and patiently answered our barrage of questions about Malaysia. Breakfast is served in the Langkawi kitchen, which is the buffet-style restaurant. We got to know many of the amazing staff during breakfast, including Qistina and Lotte. Qistina asked one of the chefs to make us a special breakfast roti (with bananas and milo). It was a great gesture and made us feel welcome. All food at the breakfast buffet was incredible, and you could choose from several stations. The Malay station was our favourite. For dinner, we alternated between Horizon and the Beach Grill. Horizon is built out over the beach, making you feel like you’re floating on the water while enjoying an excellent meal. Puva, Pedro, and Alif all provided excellent service and made us feel welcome. Alif mixed a special cocktail for us, and it proved to be excellent – light and refreshing. The Beach Grill is a bit fancier than Horizon, with a menu heavy on locally sourced seafood. We highly recommend the Andaman prawns, which are split lengthwise and grilled over an open flame. You can choose from several sauces to accompany the prawns. All staff at the Beach Grill provide exceptional service and are extremely knowledgeable about the seafood on offer. Sukri was exemplary, as was Michelle. Kuhrail, the chef, visited our table and gave us even more detail on the philosophy behind the menu and the food’s preparation. Both Sukri and Kuhrail presented us with special dishes on the last night of our stay, and Michelle wrote us a lovely card thanking us for visiting the resort and the Beach Grill. Finally, we would like to thank Miki and Bella of the Loyalty Program with Marriott Bonvoy. Miki arranged for a lovely (and delicious) fruit basket to be placed in our room upon our arrival, and Bella coordinated a special loyalty appreciation event on the beach. The event was superb, and Bella was a gracious and informative host. Do yourself a favour – stay at the Ritz-Carlton on Langkawi. You won’t regret it, and you’ll be left with very fond memories.

This hotel in Langkawi is an excellent choice for both couples and families, offering a beautiful, protected beach with calm waters and a good selection of water activities. The staff is exceptionally welcoming and helpful, ensuring a memorable stay. The world-class spa is truly outstanding, providing a luxurious relaxation experience. The hotel is conveniently located near town, attractions, and restaurants but is also secluded enough for peace and privacy. The facilities are top-notch, and the spacious, luxurious rooms make for an unforgettable stay. Highly recommended for a perfect Langkawi getaway!

The Ritz-Carlton Langkawi is undeniably a stunning property with incredible rooms and amenities, but the service doesn’t quite match the 5-star standard. TDLR: While the Ritz-Carlton Langkawi offers luxurious rooms and great amenities, the service inconsistencies and underwhelming beach make it not worth the price. I wouldn’t return and would explore other options in Langkawi instead, like the Four Seasons. Arrival & First Impressions Check-in was smooth, and the reception staff was hospitable. However, the staff member assigned to explain the resort grounds came across as rehearsed and insincere, making the introduction feel less genuine. Rooms & Amenities The room was absolutely stunning—every detail was well-designed, from the comfortable bed to the breathtaking views. As a Platinum Elite member, I received a one-tier upgrade, which was a nice touch. The pools were also a highlight, offering a great place to relax. Dining & Breakfast Experience Breakfast was well-organized with a wide variety of options, making for a great start to the day. The food quality and selection lived up to expectations. Service & Areas for Improvement While some aspects of the service were good—such as the buggy service, which was usually quick—there were multiple moments where the attention to detail and level of care didn’t reflect a true 5-star experience: Poolside service was lacking. While the loungers were well organized, the bartender ignored me completely when I approached the bar to order a drink. Even when I left my undrinkable "Ritz Punch" on the counter, there was no acknowledgment or offer for a replacement. Lack of proactive assistance. At one point, I was struggling to fold and dry off two umbrellas, and rather than assisting, an employee simply pointed to where I should put them. Small moments like this make a difference in high-end hospitality. Beach & Overall Value Despite the beautiful pools, the beach itself was disappointing—it didn’t live up to expectations, and for the price of the stay, it felt underwhelming. UPDATE: Upon checkout, the Director of Operations personally approached me to hear my concerns. He was genuinely sincere, took my feedback seriously, and went above and beyond. This level of attentiveness and generosity completely changed my perception of the hotel’s commitment to service recovery. Initially, gave 3 stars but now moved up to 5 stars. While I initially wouldn’t have returned, the management’s response made me reconsider. However, for those prioritizing a beautiful beach, the Four Seasons Langkawi is still the better option. But the pools here are seriously amazing!
