Didn’t stay at the hotel (I can only imagine it’s lovely based on how the lobby and bar looks like), went to the bar on the ground floor for drinks and some snacks. Lovely atmosphere, great location, lovely staff. Prices are very reasonable. However, please be aware that they add tax of 22% without telling you about it. The menu mentions the prices don’t include tax, but it doesn’t say how much is the tax. When the bill arrives - no separate mention of the tax, just increased prices. Spent almost a month in Sri Lanka and this is the first time tax is more than 10%. As mentioned, prices are very reasonable so it’s not a point about cost is a point about lack of communication (but it is also annoying that the tax is more than double than the rest of Sri Lanka is charging). You have to communicate, whether verbally or written, it doesn’t matter how, what matters that you make customers aware of it. Plus of course print it on the bill so your customers can clearly see what they are paying for. The staff is lovely but this behaviour is unacceptable.

The food served at the onsite restaurants is a delightful fusion of flavors, showcasing fresh ingredients and expertly crafted dishes. From mouthwatering seafood specialties to delectable international cuisine, every meal is a culinary adventure worth savoring. Beyond the dining experience, the resort offers an array of activities and amenities to suit every taste. Whether lounging by the infinity pool, indulging in a pampering spa treatment, or partaking in thrilling water sports, there's no shortage of ways to unwind and have fun. In summary, Goldi Sands is a haven of tranquility with breathtaking views and delectable dining options. While the accommodations could use some enhancements, the overall experience is one of relaxation and enjoyment. With a few tweaks, this resort has the potential to become an undisputed gem on the coast.

It was a great experience overall. Stayed there long time back but I still have the memories and it was amazing being there. It’s right on the beach and you will find many weddings around season time. Their breakfast buffet was good as well.

Had a nice room here. Hotel was clean and reasonably maintained. Situated on the beach with nice views. Two large pools one with swim up bar. Good food at breakfast, dinner is a buffet or Al a Carte. Location about a 10 minute ride to Negombo city and 20-30 minutes to the main Airport.

Lovely staff and great food. We were in a 3 star room rather than the deluxe and it was fine for us. Good swimming pools and right on the beach. A couple of good restaurants next door can help reduce the lunch bill! Loved the live music every night with dinner and they throw a great NY Eve party!

Staff is very attentive and helpful. Food was nice, they can accommodate less spicy too;) Rooms are rustic looking, the air conditioner is a bit noisy. Big bathroom with big bath and shower. Reusable amenities. Attaching photos for reference. Enjoy

Older style rooms with a glass walled bathroom. A lot of condensation. Beds were very comfortable. Staff were lovely. Breakfast selection was fantastic. Right on the beach. We paid for a sea view room but had very little view of the sea.

We had a dinner reservation last night and worst 5 star experience I’ve ever experienced. We were waiting in lobby and my 2 year older was running around the Christmas tree and enjoying. Some manager ( who couldn’t even explain himself) came and requested to keep my son silent as some crew is sleeping upstairs. (As I read other reviews this has happened to few others) the food was no better it was too expensive and horrible. The staff didn’t know who ordered what, and they forgot the rice in their “ rice and curry”. Worst experience ever. A stray cat and a dog were in the restaurant and the team waited till we ask to chase them TWICE.

I've been coming here for years, although not to stay, and it's one of my favourite places. Friendly, helpful staff and good food. The Deck is a relaxing place to enjoy a cool drink, sea breeze and pleasant view.

Very nice spacious room, which is also very clean and well appointed. Staff are helpful and attentive. Breakfast and dinner buffets are tasty with lots of good options. The morning tea and filter coffee are a very high standard, served right at the table for your convenience. Lovely outdoor setting with the beach on your doorstep.

Good beach side location with nearby shops. Hotel is along the main beach road in Negombo. Nice beach views, and pool area. Food was also good. Room was spacious, with clean sheets and pillows. Poor rating as we expected better for the price. - Booked an ocean view room, but got one with views blocked by trees. - got woken up by a loud wedding event right outside the room at 8am on a weekend morning. - only one tiny unventilated lift near the lobby - not handicap friendly as still need to ascend/descend stairs along the corridor on the way to the room - no room slippers provided, especially for visiting the balcony area. - no toothbrushes provided - towels were stained and dirty. Checked that laundry was done in house, which means staff were okay with circulating stained towels. - shower gel containers were too small. Had to keep calling housekeeping to get it refilled. - shaving/beauty mirror was unhinged - front desk service was subpar.

We went for lunch. The server wasn't familiar with the menu which was a huge disappointment. Drinks were fresh and tasty. Food was below average. The fried fish was over fried and dry ND the fettuccine Alfredo was but soggy. Over all for food it was 1.4/5 Location was excellent with the beach 200m away you could feel the breeze. Pool was clean. I would recommend this place for anyone

Disappointing Dining Experience I recently had the opportunity to dine at this restaurant with my suppliers from Singapore. We were looking forward to a pleasant evening, but unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. The primary issue was the extremely long wait time for our food. Despite our order being relatively straightforward, it took almost two hours for our meals to arrive. This is simply unacceptable, especially considering the fact that we had important guests with us. The delay in service not only disrupted our plans for the evening but also reflected poorly on our choice of venue. It was embarrassing to keep our guests waiting for such a long time, and it certainly didn't leave a good impression. While I understand that restaurants can have off days, the management should have at least informed us about the delay or offered an apology. However, none of this was done, which only added to our disappointment. In conclusion, our dining experience at this restaurant was a letdown. The excessive wait time for food and lack of communication from the staff have left a negative impression. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving their service.
