We went for a weekend before new year’s and this was the most horrible stay we had in a hotel. We booked 3 rooms for 6 persons but upon arrival, they told us that they did not have our 3rd room and that we should fit 4 persons in a family room. The bathroom was very small for 4 persons. They brought one extra mattress to the room (no extra bed). The other person was literally sleeping on the floor. We paid rooms worth 17k+ for this trip and this is how we got welcomed at the hotel. When we arrived, it was after only 2 hours that they gave us some refreshments, that also, we are the ones who asked. Just to say that, this is the worst welcome ever and very bad management. They did not even want to process our refund from marideal on top of that and did not even make an effort to give us our money worth compensation. Very bad overall! No good sense of empathy from anyone at this hotel.

We had an all inclusive day pass here. The booking was difficult and some staff were clueless. You can’t take drinks up to the pool which makes being in the sun uncomfortable. The lunch was fairly poor (we had better across the road for 70 rupees) and other guests clearly weren’t happy.

We booked an evening package, which is one of the very few hotels offering that with an open bar (all inclusive). The price of the package is correct in regards to what the package offers on the paper. On the positive side : The food at the buffet was good, cocktails were nice, and the staff was welcoming. Unfortunately, we didn't have an explanation at our arrival regarding what the package was offering, and there were no hotel animations contrary to what was announced online. Also, where is the swimming pool :) ? Would have been nice to have a quick tour of the hotel or some explanation. Also, while the location of the hotel is good (at the entrance of Flic en Flac) you should look for another place if you want to have the beach and the sea directly front of the hotel, you need here to go out of the hotel and cross the road.

I also like that there was animation and activities around the pool. Room was comfortable and spacious and the food was amazing! I totally recommend

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at Sands Resort and we can honestly say that it’s the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at…truly amazing! The staff are all absolutely fantastic, everyone makes you feel so welcome and can’t do enough to make your stay perfect. The rooms are spacious and beautifully designed with lovely views of the gardens and beach, breakfast was delicious (especially the egg station - thank you ladies!) and a different themed buffet every evening serving a variety of dishes to suit everyone’s tastes. We loved the open plan of the bar and restaurant so wherever you sat you could enjoy the warm evening breeze and interesting views whilst sipping your beer/cocktails! It was easy to arrange a taxi at reception into Flic en Flac where you’d be dropped off and picked up later at an arranged time. So, from the moment we arrived and was welcomed by Brenda and up until the moment we left (and was waved off by Brenda!) the whole experience was magical…we’ll be back…thank you!

The staff are all very welcoming and kind. Everything is perfect and the night every night are amazing. Wonderful hotel! Perfect honeymoon location. We had such a relaxing stay, everyone working there is very kind, approachable and laidback. Lots of activities to get involved with, free water sports, excellent service at the pool. The food at the buffet was excellent with a different theme each evening, great way to try different cuisines. I cannot recommend this lovely hotel enough! Go and visit Mauritius, a wonderful island to explore with lovely people ❤️

The hotel is small and quiet, great if you want a relaxing holiday. The staff are amazing. They are friendly and helpful. Amal will arrange taxis and trips, just tell him what it is you want. Lucie is absolutely lovely as are all the staff in the restaurants. Nothing is too much. The bar staff are great too. All in all a great hotel and staff that have given us many fond memories to treasure. I would highly recommend Anelia Resort & Spa. I will miss them all

Racism at the Resort So this happened when I went on my Honeymoon trip to Mauritius.We had a good welcome drink and we were escorted to our room.The Room had a great pool side and Sea View.The Staff were very Cheerful and Hospitable.We had a good time at the Resort.We went on the Private Beach and we had a good Beach side Dinner.Second day was also good and same arrangements were there.Things started changing from Day 3 when a group of Indian Guests arrived the same resort.At Night we had dinner with same arrangements but then there was a slight difference in the treatment of Indian Guests and other Guests.Next Day onwards we started seeing discrimination against the Indian Guests.We were treated differently at Dinner.There was a difference in the Attitude of Staff towards particularly Indian Guests.They had a separate Buffet and We were not even allowed to sit in the vicinity of the other Guests. This made us feel that the Country which was inhabited by the Indians, treated Indians like this.I hope this never happens with anyone in the future and The Resort rectifies this. Thankyou ✨.

The location and facilities are fine. The food is below average. The view and the beach is amazing. Having said that the staff and higher management is awfully rude and racist towards Indians. They won't have basic necessities like sanitary pad, scissors or an iron and will give you egoistic answers. Over priced for a lot of stuff if you are not going through some package. Our breakfast and dinner were included in the package but a cheese samosa outside the package will cost you 400 Mauritian rupees. I would suggest to avoid it if you are a proud Indian 🇮🇳.

Way below expectations, service was slow and just about acceptable for greasy cafe. Staff don’t really engage which is not good in my opinion. Some minor room problems and then then lock broke, they didn’t believe me until I insisted they come and see for themselves, took 4 goes to fix. Generally it feels like a tired and old hotel that’s about to lose another star. Would not return.

This wasn’t my first stay at this amazing hotel but one with the same excellent service and friendliness as always. My stay was for business so didn’t get to spend my days by the welcoming pool or beach - which I can say from experiences are amazing. The hotel and rooms are spotlessly clean. The food superb. But it’s the staff that make it. From the guys on the gate (who always remember me) to the reception team (Priscilla, Joanna and team) and the amazing Pravind and his team - they are all so super friendly and nothing is too much for them. We spent 11 nights at Sofitel in early November. Check-in was smooth and friendly and we felt very welcomed. The room was nice, clean and with all amenities. The cleaning service was great and respectful of our belongings. Hotel facilities were as expected and we made the most of what was available. I particularly appreciated the water points installed to minimise single-use plastic consumption - 5* for this! Since we were half-board, I can only provide opinions on breakfast and dinner. Food was fresh, with substantial variety and a good selection of local produce and fresh veg, fruit and seafood. The hotel also caters for those with non-diary requirements. Dinners were also tasty and the selection of food was amazing. Contrary to that drinks for dinners had to be bought - this includes water - IN PLASTIC BOTTLES - what is the point of reducing the usage of plastics if even the water has to be paid for during dinner time? I agree that alcoholic drinks, or even soft drinks can be changeable during dinner, but water shall be provided. The most irritating issue for me was that for 11 dinners we had, 9 times the waiter had not asked me ( the woman at the table) if I wanted anything to drink!!!! The question was always directed at my husband, who doesn't drink at all, therefore in the form of protest I decided to only order alcoholic drinks if I was acknowledged and asked If I wanted anything to drink! Huge loss for you the hotel, as it was me who booked the stay and me who would have a drink with dinner, but ignoring a woman at the table is above all just embarrassing.

Great hotel but even better staff! 5 stars to the attentive and considerate staff especially manager Priya. We arrived just after the cyclone which could be blamed for one pool being out of use, and a room that had dusty sticky floor. It wasn’t a big deal and I just made mention of it to Priya the manager when talking to her. She said she would ensure the room was cleaned appropriately. The next thing we get is a phone call saying they have upgraded us to a huge amazing room! We were very pleasantly surprised as I did not even really make a complaint but Priya still took the effort to make us feel very welcome. 5 star service and we will be back in the future!

leaky roof, (very) bad rooms, incompetent reception got an old room at the very end of the hotel (two toddlers, pregnant wife), we didn't realize since no one explained the hotel complex, 2nd day raining - result leaky roof 'luckily' in the middle of the bathroom. told to the reception same evening, next day no one even knows/cares about this.. last day, employee without knocking on the door at 6:30am enters to our room, all uf us jumped out of the bed, my daughter was really scared. at the reception they laught at me as it was funny alongside sayin' sorry.. for all this sh.. experience they were soo generous to give us a late check-out, in a room they anyway have to repair before renting again - not a 5star hotel, not even close, so NEVER again!! pity as positives: nice beach, good food, oukeish complex, cute kids club etc.

My family and I was staying at the Hotel for 10 nights in 2 of the Hotel's Magnifique rooms. In generel it was a good experience to stay at Sofitel and the staff was very professional and helpfull. Thanks for the possibility to check out late without cost on our last day, that was very appreciated. The Hotel is 32 years old and the Magnifique rooms was newly refurbished and renovated. Nice rooms on a high standard. If I should comment anything is it the price level in the SPA - its very high and nearly dubbel of what I pay in Copenhagen for similar treatments. This resulted in - that the SPA staff was "fishing" customers on the beach - due to there many hours withour customers. A good advice to fill the SPA every day is prices lowered 35-40% and Im sure the net earning will be higher for the Hotel owner. Good luck in the future with the Hotel and SPA.

I came here for a few days to relax. One of the best ideas I ever had! A beautiful resort, in a stunning location. Excellent facilities, which include high quality spa treatments. The staff are extremely efficient... genuinely caring and friendly. Thank you to the amazing restaurant staff and chef who even arranged a birthday cake for me. Reception, concierge and housekeeping are also always extremely helpful and accommodating. The whole experience was a tonic for body and soul.

We had an extremely bad experience at the resort. Nothing seemed at par with Hilton standards or a 5 Star category resort. Listing some of the many disappointments: 1. Safe in of the room wasn't working. 2. We were a group and had a 3 year old kid with us. To avoid travel hassles, we had chosen only those resorts which had Spa centre & Indian restaurant on campus, but upon reaching the resort on Day 1 we were told that: a) the Spa centre is not working & for complimentary services like jacuzzi, sauna etc. we have to travel to neighbouring resort. b) Indian restaurant is not open on the arrival day. Had this been the case, why weren't we pre-informed by a call/ mail about these things? This is a very standard protocol with any 5-star category resort globally. Further, upon taking these issues with the On-Duty Manager and her colleague added to our irritation. Forget about resolving, they weren't even sensitive to our problems and behaved very casually about all of them. They didn't seem concerned at all and we thus demanded if we can get full refund for the pending 2 nights. Their replies left us astonished and angry. They said that they cannot do anything in that regard as its Reservation Manager's scope and she has left for the day and will come tomorrow morning. Our request to speak with her on call was also denied and nobody came back to discuss about this issue, neither the next morning nor anytime in the pending 2 days. The duty manager didn't even cared to speak the next day or check with us about our concerns anytime after in our stay. Further, upon asking the two lady duty managers for full refund, one of her even went to the lengths to ask us whether we want to leave the resort at that time itself. (Post 10 pm in the night) I cannot recollect anyone at manager level speaking so rudely at any resort in the world, EVER!

Fantastic hotel to enjoy your vacation, beautiful scenery, we stayed for 5 days, very relaxing place, lovely beach , only drawback is they do not offer all inclusive, we had half board, at breakfast they offer water/juice etc but at dinner, water is not offered as part of a meal, you are asked to pay for this separately at 150 Mauritius rupees for one bottle per meal, each soft drinks at 200 rupees, lunch and any other food/snacks you have to buy individually. All these little extras can add up if your not careful,

I would recommend to all my friends. For example: We were late for lunch around 10 minutes and they successfully tried to prepare something quickly for us.

I booked for a couple of nights for me and my son due to our flight being cancelled. The service on arrival was impeccable and the Bungalow was lovely. I requested while I was there for an invoice for payment five times to be sent to a specific email address. Every time I asked, I was told, yes, that was no problem. I’ve since got back to the UK, and I have been emailing reservations consistently requesting this invoice because I have not yet received it. I need this as evidence for my insurance claim. I’ve even sent them a message on Instagram and X, but no response.

We had our wedding here. It was wonderful! The help of the organizer and the professionalism of the photographer made it unforgettable. And the hotel is amazing. The only thing that I think can be improved a little is the taste of the food. The cakes are amazing!

Wonderful! Hard to beat location, beach and staff. Great food and excellent flexibility towards vegan food offers. Excellent gardens. Free drinking water dispensers at the beach. Home-brewed kombucha for breakfast was a pleasant surprise. Just a small things to improve (nothing that is critical): add some paint to the mini golf/ ping pong tables. Check carefully the glass water bottles : some of them have tears in the necks sealing surface. Get rid of the towel cards.

The first impression of the hotel was very good but when you stay longer there you get annoyed of the very complicated working style of the employees. Every one has his duty and is not doing another task. When you wanna do a restaurant reservation via phone...forget it. Nobody picks up the phone. You call the reception and they tell you they are nor responsible for this. You go to the restaurant reservation desk and never is a table free in Sugar Beach resort. Of course it is always fully booked because the food is uncomparable better than in La Pirogue. The food is also very bad. Too cooked, always the same, millions of birds eating the food and also drinking your juice as soon as you leave the table. All in all....when you wanna have nice and uncomplicated vacations pay a little bit more and stay in the Sugar Beach Hotel. It's the same owner than La Pirogue but 10000x better

Thank you to Manuel and Jennifer and their whole team for treating us with so much love. The highlights apart from how stunning the resort is and the food that was amazing, were the spa and the L’Atelier des Sens. The whole experience of making your own perfume is a must. Sugar Beach you will definitely see me again!

Hello Just to share our incredible experience at one of the BEST hotel in Mauritius, The Sugar Beach. We had a very wonderful stay at the Sugar Beach Hotel. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped. The view from our room was simply amazing. The main restaurant serves a wide variety of gourmet food which were well presented and allowed us to taste different cuisines and everything that we had was excellent. The Buddha Bar was one of our favorite whereby we could have drinks with an amazing view of the sun set. The bar made us some world class cocktails and even the food were to die for, just wow. A special thanks to the Chef. The hotel staff were very professional, friendly and attentive to all our specific needs. Since day one the staff have done their very best to make our stay a pleasant one. Overall service was top-notch. A special thanks goes to Mr. Manuel Chunnoo, the guest experience manager, who is a true gentleman. He was very much interested in knowing how well our stay was going on. Our stay at Maradiva Villas Resort was an exceptional holiday experience. The facility is newly renovated and perfectly designed. The four restaurants offer a great selection at a high quality standard. We recommend especially the CILANTRO and also the in-villa dinning (SPECIAL BBQ). The staff was extremely friendly and anxious. Early check in and late check out was not problem and free of charge. For us, it was a perfect vacation, which we can highly recommend.

I stayed in this hotel for 10 days with my family and I am still amazed by the dedication of the staff, their service is above and beyond. Lately I bin seeing the decline of the service on islands but Maradiva is not the case their staff always is ready to help and they are passionate about their job. The hotel was newly renovated and looks fresh. I think the way the villas are built is superb because 2 villas can be connected with a hall way but still be separated in my case I was there with my sister and parents and we where close together but had privacy. Usually me and my sister we always argue who will take the shower first but in maradiva we did not have this problem because we had 2 separate toilets and 3 showers and one bath tub .we enjoyed our own swimming pool. Thank you maradiva for the time we spent .

We have just spent a week at the villas and are due to leave today, with heavy hearts. Our stay has been outstanding. Every member of staff we have encountered has been delightful. Nothing has been too much trouble for anyone. The room and pool were immaculately maintained daily. The restaurant staff were warm and welcoming. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The bar staff were lovely and remembered our favourite drinks and villa number. We travelled with friends who have never visited Mauritius before and they have had a wonderful week. Weather let us down but the resort certainly did not. We hope to visit again one day.

The level of cleanliness was so impressive that we were making fun saying the personnel is hidden in trees watching us so they can go clean as soon as we left the rooms. I don't think it gets better than this, honestly. Every request that you might have, done. Nothing is a problem for them. They have the most qualified staff I have ever seen. I envy their professionalism. Animals all around: the orange fishes at the reception, the rabbits at night, the fruit bats flying around, the lizard in our villa. Beautiful.

We visited the Hotel in November 2022 and here are our impressions: ⁃ First of all we want to thank Mrs. Shanenaz, she’s doing such a great job at housekeeping. She’s always smiling, kind and tries to help with everything. We really appreciated her outstanding work and also her personality. We hope that the Managers of Maradiva also reward and honor what she’s doing day by day. ⁃ Service staff was always friendly and tried to fulfill every request, especially Mrs. Sharonne. She’s such a kind person and always in a good mood. ⁃ Big rooms / Villas ⁃ Air conditioning in the bedroom is very noisy (if you put it in „sleep mode“ it’s not cooling enough even if the room was cooled down before) ⁃ Food is good quality and tastes great but some dishes (only few) are overcharged and not worth the full price ⁃ Every Sunday there’s a buffet with local specialties and food, that’s a really great experience ⁃ Sparkling water is also very overcharged (I understand that San Benedetto water in a glass bottle from Italy may cost more than other but if you get sparkling water of the brand „Crystal“ in a plastic bottle (!!!) which is even bottled in Mauritius and it still costs more than 5€ it’s not understandable) ⁃ Spa treatments are great, the staff there is very friendly. It’s always a relaxing experience to visit the spa. You can use the hot tubs whenever you want, what’s a very nice addition ⁃ Fitness centre is very clean, the available machines are okay, you’ll get fresh fruits, water and towels ⁃ Beach service is good but staff is sometimes rarely available/visible. But if you order daily, they’ll remember you and you’ll get a great service. ⁃ Weather was always great (even it was very windy sometimes) - we visited the hotel in November ⁃ The wooden floor in the bedroom is very noisy if you walk on it (even woke me up from deep sleep when my partner got up before me) ⁃ Wifi was even available at the beach ⁃ Motor boats are using the channel directly in front of the hotel the whole day which can be very noisy sometimes and you’ll always have to look after them when swimming ( they’re driving approximately 10-15 meters in front of the beach) ⁃ You have an amount of only 1800 Mauritian Rupees of credit per person. If you achieved it you have to pay your bill at the reception or you could pay an amount of money in advance at the beginning so you don’t have to pay any other day. Or you can pay everything instantly when you order. ⁃ Unfortunately there were ants everywhere around the sinks and on the walls in the bathroom and in the wardrobe (even got 1 in the bed), even the housekeeping did a great job … it was always nice and clean. ⁃ Restaurant Teppan: good food but the live cooking was just for main course and the worst: every couple received their main course at same time, just not we. We had to eat at different times, that’s senseless if you go for dinner as couple. In the end it was stressful because obviously there’s a second reservation at 9 pm (which nobody told us) so they all hurried up and already cleaned up for the next guests as we still had dessert. Doesn’t feel very welcoming.
