Canary Islands Highlights

Blending Spanish and African cultures, each Canary Island provides a unique experience.

As the largest Canary Island, Tenerife boasts the most diversity in activities and well-established hotels. It is a fabulous beach holiday destination and a golfer’s paradise that is conveniently located near to the quainter islands of La Palma and La Gomera, making it ideal for a day trip.

Tourists have been visiting Gran Canaria since the 19th century. If you are looking for a slice of desert scenery, the golden Maspalomas Dunes are a popular sight to see, while the lively area of Playa del Ingles is ideal for bustling bars and English pubs.

Lanzarote is home to the scenic volcanic landscape of Timanfaya National Park and stunning varieties of white- and black-sand beaches with turquoise blue waters. Divers and beginners can discover the aquatic wonders of Playa Blanca’s Museo Atlántico, Europe’s only underwater museum.

From Playa Blanca, you can catch a 30-minute ferry ride across to Fuerteventura for an exciting day trip, or opt for a longer stay on this beautiful island. Due to higher winds, Fuerteventura is ideal for surfers, windsurfers and kitesurfers. Similarly to Gran Canaria, Corralejo features expansive sand dunes where tourists can enjoy an off-road buggy ride.

Beach Holidays in the Canary Islands

Past volcanic activity has meant that the Canary Islands benefit from a variety of black, white and yellow-sand beaches that are ideal for lazing under the sun or taking to the waves for water sports. One of the best beaches in the Canaries is Corralejo Grandes Playas, in the resort of Corralejo, on Fuerteventura, where you can lose yourself with a long walk beside clear waters. Also on Fuerteventura are the Cotillo Lagoons, which are known for their jaw-dropping serenity. Tenerife’s Costa Adeje is a fabulous place for a sun-drenched getaway, with a myriad of seafront hotels and nearby beaches, such as the popular Fañabé Beach. For those who are seeking a picture-perfect setting in a secluded location, Lanzarote’s Papagayo Beach is a crescent- shaped cove with a couple of bars and restaurants perched on the hill overlooking the sparkling Atlantic Ocean.

All-Inclusive Holidays in the Canary Islands

All-inclusive holidays in the Canaries offer a perfect blend of luxury and convenience. With a plethora of options for family- friendly or adult-only hotels, guests can indulge in a hassle-free experience tailored to their preferences. Guests can savour an array of culinary delights, from traditional Spanish dishes like tapas and paella to international favourites and home comfort foods. Varied buffet dining and themed dinners offer a delightful gastronomic experience, while à la carte snacks by the pool tend to be a part of the programme at lunchtime - giving you the ability to indulge without leaving your sun lounger! All- inclusive packages usually include a selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, ensuring every holiday desire is taken care of.

Family Holidays in the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are renowned for being ideal for families, from their fantastic outdoor adventures to their international restaurants and lively entertainment options. There are a whole host of hotels and resorts offering fun-filled kids clubs, live shows, aqua activities, children’s pools, waterparks and more. In Tenerife, head to Siam Park for an afternoon of thrills and spills or go dolphin and whale-watching on a glass-bottom boat tour. Las Cucharas Beach can be found in the family-orientated resort of Costa Teguise, Lanzarote, and offers a host of exciting water sports and activities to entertain little ones, such as kayaking, snorkelling and stand-up paddleboarding. Another family-friendly escapade could be a visit to Gran Canaria’s Maspalomas Palmitos Park, home to a dolphinarium, butterfly house, birds of prey, meerkats, crocodiles and much more.

Canary Islands Weather

With average daily highs hovering around 23°C in the months of November to February, the Canaries are one of the most sought-after destinations for holidaymakers searching for a beach holiday in the cold wintertime. During the summer months of July and August, the Canaries see very little rainfall and enjoy daily high temperatures in the late 20s and average lows in the low 20s. All four islands share similar weather conditions, but Lanzarote tends to be the hottest. Fuerteventura experiences the highest winds, which are very welcomed during the scorching summertime, making it ideal for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing.
