Estes River Retreat
This lovely resort sits like a jewel on Anse Marcel Beach.although it’s due to close soon for a remodel the grounds are spotless our room was the cleanest ever! The staff is super friendly like “Sunshine” at the towel station every morning bestowing wisdom and a good laugh “I’m above ground and kicking life” The food was also better then most AI - the grouper with the cream truffle sauce was amazing!! Yoga on the roof top in the morning was sublime and the beach although small was not crowded and very gentle -Can’t wait to see this place refreshed

We just returned from a short excursion and enjoyed our visit. We upgraded to a larger room which was great. It's a smaller all inclusive resort so you do have limited dining options as compared to other resorts. However, my wife and I had a great time relaxing by the pool, spend time at the beach, and taking in the beautiful scenery. We also enjoyed relaxing live music every night. I would go back in a heartbeat.

I plan to add to this review, but I am utterly shocked at how terrible this resort is. We had previously visited a secrets in Mexico, and it was fantastic. The St Martin secrets is run down, dated, and unremarkable in every way. The all- inclusive model of secrets is a joke to say the least. The pool bar is closed, all of the restaurants on Saturday, April 6th 2024 are closed (THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO FILE THE ENTIRE RESORT THROUGH THE BUFFET), the room was not stocked with a full compliment of included beverages and spirits. The employees are using their OWN blue tooth speakers to create an atmosphere. The room is decrypted, cramped, and without adapters for US electronics (I have to imagine based on whom we've met thus far, the majority of guests are from the US). The plaster in the pools is cracked and shambling, the pools are dirty, and there was no staff to be seen to pick up towels, get food or drinks, or provide any assistance in anyway. Speaking of staff, so far, distant and non engaging.
I honestly want my money back! This resort is falsely advertised, there is no value for what we paid, and I am horrified that this is how secrets has decided to represent is brand.

We visited using "Resort for a Day" while visiting port. From the beginning of arrival, the front desk staff was rude. The property is dated, and the value doesn't match up to what they charge. The buffet was mundane and lacked variety. If you are on the beach, don't expect beach service from the bar. The beach was overrun by saltgrass, which was being cleaned up late into the afternoon. We like to use "Resort for a Day" to see potential places to stay when we travel and use all-inclusive properties for our destination vacations. I would definitely advise against this place for even a day visit. If they'll treat you bad for a day, just imagine how bad you'd be treated for a week.

Arrived by boat from the airport, a fabulous experience only to arrive at the hotel where 1 person is checking people in at a snails pace. Not friendly or welcoming at all. Arrive at our room to find broken draperies, a backed up sink and a foul odor and our view was the trash area. Took almost 2 hours to get a different room (at about 30% capacity there’s no excuse for that). New room is also rundown but better than the first. The young man who greets you at breakfast is truly the only staff other than the maid service who were pleasant. The facility is in desperate need of repair and we found lots of dangerous situations including exposed nails and screws, black mold, and broken tiles. The beach was great for 2 days and then on the third as we made our way the stench from the massive amounts of seaweed on the sand made it unbearable. At no point over the next 7 days of our stay was that addressed. The pool was ok. The service was non existent unless you went to the bar yourself. There you were ignored or treated rudely. The music at the pool was absolutely horrible. I’d say we spoke to no less than 30 people who were so disappointed in all of these aspects and more and said it in no way is like the other Secrets they’ve stayed at. The food in every restaurant was less than mediocre as well. The entertainment or lack there of could be compared to a glorified karaoke. We attempted a taxi to the other side of the island where we were overcharged and again treated rudely. There is a wonderful Italian restaurant across the street (thank goodness) and the pizza at the pool restaurant was also good. You also get to deal with large numbers of day pass people binge drinking and taking over the pool. For what we paid and the experience we had? We got robbed. After having impeccable service, food, and entertainment repeatedly at resorts in Mexico for less money - I’d say go anywhere but here. Truly. Do not waste your valuable time or money.
