Really great resort. Rooms were good size, two pools one busy and other relaxing, right on the beach. Great excursions to buy if you want and a few free activities included too like catamarans and kayaks. Great drinks and beautiful and nice people working. Would come back!

We did not have a great experience staying at Allegro Playacar and will never return when visiting Cancun in the future. The room we had was terrible. The air conditioning didn't really work, it smelled like urine, and the straw roof leaked water and dropped debris all over, which included worms/bugs that fell all over our bed, side table, and floor. We had to switch rooms the last night because there were so many little worms or some kind of larva crawling on our bed. I'd guess around 100-120 larva were crawling around in the room at some point, probably more. It took over an hour to switch rooms (around midnight) and the guy that helped us seemed very annoyed. The food was also horrible but it could have been our particular taste since others seemed to enjoy the food. To us, the food tasted fake and full of chemicals with strange after tastes. Again, I'm happy to admit it could have been our particular taste, which is fine. Some positives; the staff and service overall was great, the beach and pool were fantastic. The property was clean and nice (outside our room) but the issue(s) with the room really tainted the overall visit. We will never return and plan to visit different inclusive resorts in the future. If we had to stay again, I'd make sure to ask for a room that (at minimum) has a net or something to catch anything that falls from the straw ceiling.

It was our second time coming back to allegro Playacar because of its great location. As before, service is great everywhere and everyone is very helpful. We are very impressed with Mr Dominguez’s assistance from concierge department. Food is great everywhere, but we particularly enjoy the Italian restaurant. Our server Issac was so awesome! The only thing we noticed that Probably soon, rooms need to be updated, so tourists keep coming to this wonderful and peaceful place!

We are very satisfied with the hotel, rooms and service. All employees are very friendly and smiling all the time. The food is excellent and there is something for everyone. There are daily activities throughout the day and in the evening there is a show within the hotel, so there is never a shortage of entertainment. We came from Croatia and we will definitely come back :).

Beautiful beach with turquoise water! Two pools by the beach with a great poolside bar and lunch buffet, with plenty of food options. For dinner, they have a selection of a la carte restaurants and a great buffet with international selection. Tennis and basketball courts are really nice and they have a nightly show. Highly recommend staying here!

Great beach- best of the whole strip of hotels. The hotel is very clean and the workers are very polite and attentive. The adults only section is closest to the beach and buffet. The family section is a bit of a walk but there is a shuttle every 15 minutes that loops around the hotel. Food is good- fresh and replenished often. The entertainment staff was super enthusiastic and welcoming and encourages all ages to participate at any time. Sergio, Ana, Sam and Arlette were great. They made our trip memorable for sure!

Amazing experience, I never want to leave. There are so many activities at the pool and on the beach. We loved Sergio and Rene from the Sports & Activites Center. We also loved Adrian the photographer. Overall amazing experience there’s so much to do I wish I could stay forever. If you’re thinking about booking, do it!

Esmeralda at Gaucho was EXCELLENT at breakfast today! Service was fantastic, and it was buffet! She was very attentive to my needs of hot water, water, large ice water for my to go cup, everything! Thank God she spoke English very well because I need to work on my Spanish skills. She kept our table clear and was very polite! LOVE HER!

We loved everything about this hotel, it feels as if it’s its own city. It’s kid friendly and has an adult only section as well. We visited El Gaucho buffet in the am and had Luna as our server and she was amazing. The beach is beautiful here as well. Our only struggle was the walk but they have a shuttle that can take you to and from. The walk is also not crazy long the scenery during your walk makes it completely worth it feels majestic.

We've never been to an all-inclusive resort before and our three kids have never been out of the country. Sandos far exceeded our expectations! We fell in love with the resort and the kindness of the people. I can't find one thing to complain about. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds and we didn't have any trouble walking, even late at night when we were tired. The shows each evening are spectacular! They are truly top notch shows! I don't know the staff keep the resort so clean but they do. Our room was spotless most of the time. Even the bathrooms are clean and smell fresh all the time. The festival buffet was great for our family. We always found things to eat and it was neat watching our kids try new foods, too. I hope Sandos has many years of success and we can't wait to return!

Had a lovely time at this resort. I saw posts complaining about the lack of chairs at the beach and pool, but there were more than enough in both spots during our stay. It was not difficult to make reservations at the restaurants with our villa’s concierge, and all meals we had were great. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I will say the AC was a little weak in a couple of the bars and restaurants but we had no problem with it in our room. We enjoyed a tequila tasting, karaoke, salsa dancers and a jazz band as entertainment. The big advantage here is that it’s adults-only, so the property was clean and quiet. It was the perfect way to spend a relaxing vacation.

We just got back from a 7 day trip here. We didn’t do any excursions so all of our time was spent on the resort. Everything was well kept and overall the resort is older but amazing. The service at the bars were top notch. The activities during the day were good but honestly could’ve been more options. The night life was dead for an adults only location. The food was very good but the A/C was not the greatest, but also tolerable. Our concierge David was maybe the worst experience as he was never around and when he was he wasn’t very friendly. But I would definitely recommend this resort if you are looking for a relaxing vacation.

I personally have stayed at many All Inclusive resorts in Riviera Maya, but there is something so special about Royal Hideaway that keeps us coming back. This resort is very laid back, which is what we prefer personally. The service and people there are absolutely wonderful and make you feel so welcomed. The food is very good, rooms are clean, and they do a fantastic job keeping the beach clean. We have been repeat customers and will stay repeat customers.

My husband and I stayed here for our second wedding anniversary. The hotel overall is very nice. I will 100% say that the hotel is very very clean and you can see workers being very attentive. Most of our questions were answered very quickly and nicely! The hotel is outdated (made in 1998) which makes the rooms and some common areas feel not fresh. Remembering that the hotel is in the Caribbean, of course humidity and that “sticky feeling” is part of the location! It would have been nice to go to an area with icy cold AC, but that is not the reality of the location. To be clear, there is AC in the rooms, but it’s more like a “swamp cooler” feel vs central AC feel! As for the food breakfast and lunch buffet were GREAT some of the days. Other days were just okay, i think it depends on who is cooking!! All the restaurants on property are amazing for dinner! Really great food with a great selection! Spices Restaurant was the only restaurant that had issues with AC! For our reservation at the Asian restaurant, they placed us outside where my husband and I proceeded to get 15 bug bites each! The food was outstanding, but the outside atmosphere was Very, very hot and very very buggy! As for activities, it’s a very quiet resort, which is nice and refreshing, but can be boring if that’s not what you’re looking for! We attended the sushi class, which was super fun and learned how Sushi from Fernando! Water aerobics looked really fun. I was too busy getting my tan on! Overall, I think it was a great experience probably would not go back only because I want to explore different hotels in the area not for the lack of service or food!!

Sigh, it was unseasonably hot during the first week of May. We travel to Mexico every year during this time so we are a little familiar with the temperature. The property is beautiful. Very clean grounds, very clean and modern rooms, very clean pool and beach area too. The variety of restaurants have better than average food and friendly service. So for the issues- problems with the room AC. It was so hot, they couldn't keep up. Our room was the coolest according to other guests at 77F/24C. The evening entertainment area had no AC, some of the restaurants had no AC. This made it difficult to enjoy our meals. Again, it was unseasonably hot but this made us feel very run down and exhausted both day and night. Will we come back, I'd like to think so because it was really a nice place. For us, it takes a lot to duplicate a resort when there are so many to explore.

I am going to start just by praising all the servers and bartenders for working so hard around the clock! They were exceptional. However, this hotel is so old and the online pictures doesn’t do its justice. DO NOT BOOK TO THIS HOTEL. I said this to say that I learned it the hardest way. I traveled with my family to celebrate our 8 year’s anniversary and we were all sick. The room is too cold you can’t adjust the temperature, smelly and slippery. All around the hotel is slippery. And no place in the lobby is comfortable to sit and enjoy. Either it’s too freaking cold or too hot! My two year old falls down and hurts his knee no one really cares. Food is terrible. Not many options there. Drinks are awful. Beach is so dirty and stinky with a lots of seaweeds. Entertainment is a joke. Above all front desk are rude and not helpful. For how much we spent we left with disappointment. .

We travelled to Playacar palace for a family trip - four couples and three kids under the age of 2. The service was absolutely impeccable - all the staff was so so lovely and helpful. The service and staff made this a top level experience. The food left something to be desired, and not a lot of variety and very average (a few things subpar) though the Asian restaurant was our best meal there. The hotel itself seems like it needs a minor facelift, but nothing horrendous - I think the price reflects as such. The pool area was very nice, as was the beach. The staff provided great pool entertainment and really seem to enjoy what they do!

I was at this resort on January for a week on a membership.We arrived to the resort early and couldn't checking until 3 pm. at the arrival we were greeted by the staff to schedule a meeting with the "sales department to review our membership benefits". We were offered a new upgrade, we were tired and hungry and sounded good, so we opted to upgrade. We were promised a room with partial ocean view, but instead we were place looking at the back street.The facilities are deplorable, the mattress was torn and uncomfortable, the pillows were disgusting stinky. The lounge bed were broken, the bathrooms are stinky and on poor shape. The outdoors showers to rinse sand were not working, nobody assisting to remedy the problem. The pools were dirty with garbage floating in them. We requested a visit with the sales department to cancel our recent "upgrade/ investment". It took a while and a lot of explanation to get out of this "deal", but we were able to get out. I'm very disappointment with this resort. we have come to this resort for the 7th time. Since the first time to today, we have seem a decline in the facilities upkeep. We were offered the first time upon request the partial ocean view room, after deciding to cancel the upgrade we were promised another room (governors suite) but I was not in the mood to switch rooms and waste more time dealing with these people. Management were very adamant to continue asking to reconsider not canceling the upgrade, but the fact is the facilities are not a 5 star hotel. I wrote a review on trip advisor, the review was deleted. I was contacted by the resort staff telling me that they were going to "resolve the issues" , but I never heard from them again. (typical). Any how, I decided not to continue visiting this resort, I will try a different option in the future. P.S. There were other issues that I can not write on this review.

We had a great time. Lobby shows were great and the food was great. The location is breathtaking. Service was great! Can't say enough about that. The room that we were in wasn't quite up to standard. We had trouble with the patio door and the humidity. Floor would get wet. I almost fell once. We finally figured out if we didn't use the patio door it was okay. We paid extra to up grade from the room we had been assigned too because the mattress had a bad dip but the new room wasn't any better and we had the dampness to contend with but we didn't want to move again so we put up with the dampness.
