Hainanese chicken rice, considered by many to be Singapore’s national dish, is a fabulous creation, Bak Kut Teh is a flavoursome pork rib soup flavoured with herbs and spices, and Char Kway Teow is a stir-fried staple for locals comprising rice noodles, dark sauce, fish, eggs, bean sprouts and Chinese sausages. The iconic Singapore Sling is a must-try cocktail during your cruise which is made with gin, brandy, syrup, pineapple juice and other special brews, while teh tarik is a popular hot milk tea made with black tea, condensed milk and a splash of evaporated milk.

  A much-loved dessert in Singapore is Ice Kachang, a wonderful creation featuring shaved ice, red beans, grass jelly or agar-agar, sweet flavoured syrups and delicious toppings.

Singapore is just 1.5 degrees south of the Equator and experiences a tropical climate. Its hot, wet and humid conditions are typical of South East Asia. Consistently warm weather makes Singapore a great place to visit all year round. An appealing time to enjoy a cruise holiday is from June to September when humidity levels are at their lowest and the days offer longer hours of sunshine.
The country experiences sudden and heavy downpours most days, but these are normally short-lived. Umbrellas are recommended for protection from the rain, as well as strong rays of the sun. Singapore sees substantial rainfall during the monsoon season between November and January, with around 290mm falling during December. Temperatures average around 32°C during the day and 25°C at night from December to January, while averages for the rest of year are around 33°C during the day and 26°C at night.

Breathtaking historical and cultural attractions in Singapore include the Sultan Mosque in Muscat Street, the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum and the towering Sri Mariamman Temple in Chinatown, a beautiful structure built in the Dravidian style in 1827. Gardens by the Bay is an incredible showpiece of garden artistry and horticulture which boasts cloud forests, bio domes and solar-powered Supertrees.
