New Year's Eve in Dubai - Bring in 2017 in Style

We’ve previously discussed why you should consider taking a Christmas holiday to Dubai, but why stop at Christmas? Why not plan your Dubai holiday to include the New Year, too?

Dubai is the perfect place for a New Year’s bash! The city bleeds glamour, glitz and is renowned for throwing one of the biggest annual bashes around. You can expect epic fireworks, incredible light shows and plenty of NYE cheer during a holiday to Dubai.

Now, you may be thinking “is Dubai a good place to celebrate on New Year, considering their attitudes towards alcohol?” Well, for westerners, there’s no real difference from celebrating in say, London. In fact, most hotels and restaurants are licensed to sell alcohol to tourists, and these are the places that usually throw the best NYE parties.

Another benefit of celebrating New Year in Dubai is that Dubai uses the Gregorian calendar for official non-religious celebrations, unlike China who have their own exclusive calendar. This means that you can celebrate New Year in Dubai at the same time as everyone else!

The Weather

Everyone knows how unpredictable the British weather can be. Often most New Year’s Eve parties take place indoors, with the brave few heading outside to set off fireworks. And even then you’ll probably find yourself dressed from head to toe in layers of warm clothing.

But when it comes to NYE in Dubai, it’s a whole different story. December brings with it temperatures between 23°C-27°C and two days of rain for the entire month, which means you could realistically welcome the New Year while wearing only shorts and a t-shirt!

The Best Parties

As mentioned previously, the best New Year’s Eve parties in Dubai are found within the walls of its many five-star hotels. Licensing laws mean that the sale of alcohol is generally reserved to the city’s hotels and restaurants, meaning you can still expect to pop a bottle of your favourite champagne.

There are so many fantastic New Year’s Eve parties in Dubai, but one stylish bash never fails to impress. Taking place at the iconic Atlantis, The Palm hotel, The Atlantis Royal Gala starts with canapés at 7:30pm on the Atlantis Beach, before a specially constructed venue opens at 8pm. The night includes unlimited premium alcohol including champagne, a buffet of lobster and caviar and a 30 piece live band, who play right through the night until the early hours.

To top things off, there’s even a huge fireworks display that will leave you wide-mouthed with awe! In fact, the hotel is famed for having the largest display of 2008, beating the Olympic opening ceremony with its amazing pyrotechnics!

But f the black tie atmosphere and Gatsby-esque grandeur of The Atlantis Royal Gala is not for you, we suggest looking into the Downtown Dubai NYE celebrations. The event is free to the public and features a wealth of music and dance performances, which culminate in a spectacular display on the steps of the Burj Khalifa. From there, the stage opens for an incredible light and fire show over the Burj Lake - we can’t think of a better way to welcome in the New Year!

The Best Restaurant Experiences

We understand that not everyone enjoys the kind of all night parties that Atlantis or the Downtown area offer. If you’re looking for a more relaxed way to let the New Year in, you may want to explore one of the city’s many stunning restaurants.

But that’s not to say you have to miss out on all the action. You can still enjoy the city’s many firework displays by visiting a restaurant with a rooftop lounge, such as Iris or 40 Kong.

Most restaurants offer the luxury of a special New Year’s menu, complete with a range of special touches and additions - you’ve not lived until you’ve tried edible gold flakes.

Looking for a truly unique experience? Why not take in a dinner show while setting sail around Dubai on a luxury cruise. Tours regularly set sail from the marina to the Palm, meaning you can catch all the action and one of the city’s best firework displays as you gently ride the coast.
