Honeymoons in the Maldives - Our Pick of the Best Hotels for Couples

The Maldives has everything you could want for a relaxing honeymoon; stunning beaches, abundant sunshine and world-class food and cocktails. What better way to unwind from a busy past few months of wedding planning than by sitting back on the white sands, while staring out onto the azure sea with your favourite cocktail in hand.

Luxury is very important on a honeymoon; after all you’ve most likely spent the last year or so of your life stressing over wedding invitations and table settings. You deserve to sit back and relax in the comfort of your own secluded paradise, alongside the love of your life. The Maldives has an amazing selection of 5-star hotels, which provide the perfect base for you to celebrate your nuptials. Here are some of our favourites:

Taj Exotica Resort & Spa

Taj Exotica Resort & Spa

The Taj Exotica is a perfect example of why holidays to the Maldives are so special. Peace and tranquility is the theme at the Taj Exotica, which is situated on its own private island. If you’re looking for privacy and to get away from it all on your honeymoon, the Taj Exotica is the perfect choice.

The Taj Exotica features four bars and restaurants, specialising in pan-Asian cuisine, grilled meats and seafood. The Equator Bar is a great place for enjoying cocktails, wines, cigars and shisha for a night of luxury on your honeymoon. The resort also features a spa, fitness centre, infinity pool and a private concierge as well as the option to take part in scuba diving, parasailing, twilight fishing and sunset cruises.

While there is no official honeymoon suite at the Taj Exotica, there are a number of special suites that provide additional space and a number of exclusive luxuries. We recommend the Rehendi Presidential Suite with Pool. This suite features an 18 square metre private pool on a spacious sundeck, complete with hammocks that hang over a beautiful lagoon. The privacy and romantic sites are enough to set the scenery for a honeymoon to remember in this amazing suite.

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island

The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is also located on its own private island, only this one is slightly larger than the Taj Exotica’s. This larger island swaps a small amount of seclusion for more activities and facilities to take part in in the resort.

The Conrad Rangali is home to three bars and seven restaurants, including the Ithaa Undersea, which lies sixteen feet below water and features glass walls that give a 180° view of the area’s coral reefs and shoals of fish! As for entertainment facilities, the Conrad Rangali features an Over Water Spa set in thatched rooms over the Indian Ocean, a retail boutique, a sport and fitness centre and an open air cinema that is spread across two islands!

The premium beach-facing rooms at the Conrad Rangali come in two separate varieties, depending on whether you enjoy views of the ocean or the sand. The Sunset Water Villa is located over the ocean with glass floors that allow you to see the marine life below. A prime view of the sunset also adds to the romance of this magnificent residence, along with a private whirlpool for you to enjoy at your leisure.

Those who prefer the sand to the sea will want to look to the Beach Suite. The beach setting allows the Suite to be the largest in the resort, leaving enough room for two private plunge pools, two private outdoor bathrooms for traditional bathing, private beach access and a private island host to tend to all of your needs.

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru

The Four Seasons may not be on its own private island, but that won’t matter when you consider its incredible location on the Baa Atoll UNESCO World Bio Reserve. The island of Baa Atoll has one of the most diverse selections of native marine life and coral in the world, making it a must for nature lovers and diving enthusiasts alike!

The Four Seasons features five restaurants, which serve the freshest seafood and many local delicacies, as well as two bars, including a traditional Turkish shisha bar. As for activities, the resort has all of the usual spa and gym facilities plus a shuttle catamaran service that links the hotel to its sister site, where you’ll find a number of excellent dive spots. The staff at the resort will also prepare you a private picnic to enjoy the romantic atmosphere of the island.

The most romantic rooms at the Four Seasons are the Sunset and Sunrise Water Villas. These amazing villas are situated directly above the water and feature private steps into the ocean, making the sea your front garden and the private pool your back garden. Early birds and night owls also have the choice of a villa that faces the sunrise or sunset, depending on their preferences.

Cocoa Island by COMO

Cocoa Island by COMO

As a member of the luxury COMO brand, you know that you are in for a trip full of romance and mystique at Cocoa Island Como. The resort is made up of 33 overwater suites that allow you to take a dip into the ocean straight from your room.

Cocoa Island features a bar and two restaurants. At the Ufaa restaurant, guests have the option of dining on Asian and Mediterranean classics alongside the sea or wave pool, in their rooms or even at enchanting tables sunken into the beach. The resort also features Como Shambhala, a holistic treatment centre, a spa that specialises in aquatherapy, morning and sunset yoga sessions, dolphin spotting cruises and even champagne breakfasts to start off the day's romance in style.

If you’re looking for the best rooms at Cocoa Island, look no further than the stellar COMO Villas. These two stunning, 300 square metre premium villas are aptly named Sunrise and Sunset after the directions that they face. Each villa is made up of two wings and are located on their own private jetty that has immediate access to the lagoon. Each villa has its own private butler and dining area on opposite sides of the wings.

These resorts are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to luxury resorts in the Maldives, all of which would make for a honeymoon to remember. Why not take a look at our Maldives holiday page to find the perfect honeymoon resort for you?
