Best Holiday Destinations for March

Beach

March in the UK might see a little sunshine, but for the most part we’re still feeling the chilly remnants of winter. Until summer properly kicks in, a flight in search for sun is a great idea for this time of year.

So, where is hot in March? We give a few pointers on the best holiday destinations to fly to around the world.

1. Cuba

Cuba

People forget that Cuba is a huge island – the biggest in the Caribbean. Because of this, there are so many facets to this destination, allowing you to design your holiday around this. Go from the crumbling grand avenues of Havana with its wild energy and lust for life, to the unspoilt beaches and tranquil atmosphere of Varadero in the northwest of the island and enjoy everything in between.

One of the best things about this island is that there is so much to experience. While an all-inclusive in one of the many high end hotels is appealing, if you do fancy an adventure, there are jungle tours, backpacking, watersports or riding down the dusty roads in a vintage ’55 Buick to enjoy as well. Cuba is completely unique – and well worth visiting.

2. Abu Dhabi

AbuDhabi

December to March is the best time of year to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – before the summer takes over and it gets REALLY hot.

Abu Dhabi is fantastic for families, couples and solo travellers. If you want a luxury holiday to the Emirates, prepare yourself – nobody does indulgence quite like it. Equally, Abu Dhabi can provide you with a holiday to suit your individual tastes, whether you want an adventure holiday, a child-friendly resort or want to enjoy a true Arabian experience under Bedouin tents and camel rides. This is a land that always treats you as their number one guest.

3. Koh Samui

KohSamui

If you want to get the best out of a holiday to Thailand, make sure you go around this time of year. The weather is at its optimum - warm but not stifling, the tourist levels are subsiding and prices are on the way down.

Koh Samui is a great base for your Thailand holiday in March. While you can stay put on the island, and have a great Thai experience, it is also close to other islands like Koh Tao, which means you can go on mini trips to other areas of this wonderful country. From the incredible cuisine to the warmth of the Thai people – you could do a lot worse than visit this glorious sun-soaked island in Spring.

4. Jamaica

Jamaica

While the music, laidback attitudes and knockout food dominate this island nation’s reputation, there is a lot more to Jamaica. And March is the best time of year to find out more about the true character of the place.

Well worth a travel round, Jamaica has a natural beauty, not surprising for this part of the world. Places like Martha Brae, Irie Blue Hole and Blue Lagoon are well worth booking for tours, raft rides and treks. Make sure to put some time aside to get to grips with the island’s history too – an afternoon at somewhere like Belfield Great House should be pencilled in at some point along your trip.

5. Langkawi

Langkawi

Scattered across the Andaman Sea, the Langkawi archipelago makes up some 104 islets. While it may not be the biggest name in this part of southeast Asia, the level of luxury on these islands is something to behold, and March is a great time to go before the mercury rises too high.

With a landscape to rival the Maldives or Seychelles, Langkawi is a tropical paradise that manages to combine high end resorts, incredible seafood restaurants and a healthy tourism industry with the island community that have continued to live unhindered as they have done for many generations.
