Bali or Thailand: where should you go?

Bali and Thailand. Both are beautiful, exotic destinations so far removed from the mundane, grey days that we have become accustomed to here in the UK. Both attract hordes of holidaymakers each year, all looking for an opportunity to relax, soak up year-round sunshine and immerse themselves in a culture that’s so different from their own.

So, what’s better, Thailand or Bali? Which one of these two tropical paradises takes the lead as the most beautiful? The best value for money? The most romantic place to spend your first weeks of post-nuptial bliss?

In this blog, we delve into these exotic places, so that you can discover where you should go on your next far-flung holiday.

Bali vs Thailand Cost

First off, let’s take a look at the cost of these exotic escapes. As with the rest of southeast Asia, the most expensive part of your holiday is going to be your flights. Let’s say you’re travelling from London in June.

For Bali, you’re looking at a return flight for around £530 - £930. Flight times vary, averaging at about seventeen and a half hours. For Phuket, in Thailand, the cost of a return flight ranges from around £480 to £750. Again, the flight times vary, ranging from around fourteen and a half to nineteen hours.

Bali Beaches vs Thailand Beaches

Thailand is a much larger country than Bali, so there’s a beach for every occasion. If you want an untouched, pristine stretch of coastline - you’ll find it in Thailand. If you want a beach that’s fringed with five star hotels - you’ll find it in Thailand. If you want a beach that’s home to some of the wildest parties in the world - you’ll find it in Thailand. That’s the beauty of The Land of Smiles - it’s so big there’s something for everyone.

Bali, on the other hand is a relatively small island. But what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in beautiful beaches. Although you may not have the same amount of choice as Thailand, you can still discover a large array of white and golden sands to explore. Whether you want to snorkel, scuba dive, soak up the sunshine or take that perfect beachy Insta pic - there’s a beach in Bali for you.

Bali or Thailand for Your Honeymoon

If you’re looking for a secluded resort where you can spend your first couple of weeks as a married couple, you’ll be spoilt for choice in both Thailand and Bali. Thailand is famed for its wonderful hospitality, with many resorts offering special honeymoon packages for newlyweds.

For the perfect honeymoon in Thailand, we recommend the magnificent Sala Samui Resort and Spa. Located on the sugar white sands of Choeng Mon Beach, this resort is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the company of your other half.

Bali also features a wide selection of stunning hotels that are perfect for honeymooners looking for an authentic, luxury island experience.

If you’re looking for a honeymoon hotel in Bali, consider the stunning Banyan Tree Ungasan. Here you can relax by the picturesque infinity pool which overlooks the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. The soothing seascape is the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable honeymoon, while you will feel right at home in the sophisticated surroundings of your luxury villa.

Which is better, Bali or Thailand?

The answer really depends on you and your holiday needs.

Both have the most beautiful, exotic beaches and landscapes, are steeped in history and enjoy year-round warm weather. If you simply can’t choose between these two wonderful locations, consider a multi-centre holiday. This way you get to see them both in the same unforgettable trip!
