Arrived at Gouves hotel, the staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had the family swim up room and was definitely the best choice we made, no fussing over sun beds and we were located in a great spot! The rooms were spotless and well maintained, the same said for the surrounding areas such as the pools and food areas. A range of different food however all inclusive got a bit repetitive. Loads of pools, slides, splashpark, football areas and kids club so kids are kept entertained. The entertainment at night was disappointing, unsure if this is down to it being early in the season but nothing much happening at night. The location isn’t great either apart from the airport being about 20 mins away and a 5 minute walk from the beach but that’s it. There’s nothing in the surrounding area no bars or restaurants so would suggest hiring a car to go further afield. We did walk approx 25 minutes to the Crete aquarium on an overcast day and that was a great hour out. Overall hotel/experience was great.

We have just returned from 7 nights all inclusive. My children are 7 & 10 and we got everything we asked for a fantastic family holiday! The food was brilliant something for everyone in the restaurant lots of variation. The snack bars were brilliant big shout out to Pablo the chicken & pork Gyros king! great service and sense of humour! To be honest the waitresses/ waiters, bar staff, reception welcome, bag carrier and to forget the cleaners and mini bar refiller were all so friendly and did a great job! I have to say the cleaners were none stop and it really showed. But most of all the activities team who I joined every morning at 10.30 for stretching, yoga & Pilates. Other activities Aqua gym and Zumba classes too along with water polo were daily! Football, shows every night at 9.30pm. They practiced every night after this entertainment for their big show on a Saturday and worked so hard. We had a magician, men vs women, bingo, disco rave, quiz. If you want to chill and have some family time head for main bar to play uno & blackjack along with enjoying the cocktails. None alcoholic ones for the kids too! have to give the location a star less and this is due to the surrounding area not being very attractive at all on arrival. BUT a short walk down to the beach which is lovely €8 for two loungers and an umbrella, 15 minutes transfer from the airport, the planes constantly fly over but we really enjoyed watching them and they did not disturb us. The apartment it self we stayed in 3212 had a separate bedroom with twin beds for the kids we all had plenty of space. Mini bar in room-too with water and pop for the children filled regular along with a kettle and tea bags/ coffee ect. We did go to aquarium on a dull day about 20 min walk and €36 for the family so reasonable and we all enjoyed it. But other than that they’re only super markets and the odd food place so if you’re looking for something where you can wonder about on an evening Youl have to get transport. Fab place for families and children of all ages! Oh and no sun bed fights yayyyyy!

Booked this hotel all inclusive "plus" through Jet2. First of all there is no "all inclusive plus" it's just standard all inclusive. When we arrived we were then informed we needed to pay tourist tax of €10 a night as it was a "5 star hotel" it would have been less if it was the 4 star hotel that Jet2 advertise it as. On that note.... The 5 stars are clearly just a way of extorting more money out of you I am sure, as no way is Gouves Waterpark Holiday Resort 5 star. I'd give it a 3 star max. The soft drinks are absolutely horrific, no branded drinks in sight, the smell of the softdrinks alone smell like urinal fluid.... And I can only imagine taste the same as urinal fluid. The AI food isn't nothing to write home about and we didn't even bother with breakfast in the end. The same horrid thing every day. The one visit you get to the onsite Japanese restaurant "Umami" was good however. Another good point is that the Pizza slices are great at this hotel, people comment on the Gyros but I can get better at my local kebab shop. WiFi is non existent. Drops in and out all day and definitely couldn't pick it up in our room (4209) . On to the rooms, the first night we arrived we were originally given a different room, upon entering- the electrics in the room wouldn't work so no lights or anything, so we just sat there in the pitch black with our phones for torches, while the guy who helped with our bags tried to fix it, eventually after about 10 minutes of messing about with the fuse box and getting a new key card from reception he managed to get the lights to come on and left. Literally about 2 minutes later we were plunged into darkness for about a minute before they flicked on again. I had to go up to reception to let them know as this kept happening for the next 5 minutes as we tried to unpack. The cutting out of the lights and flicking back on facade then resumed for another 25/30 minutes as they couldn't fix it and decided only then to change us room. By this point it was 11.30pm. No sorry, nothing. The manager is an arrogant tw*t that swans round and only smiles at the certain people, he clearly took a disliking to me as the miserable sod didn't smile once throughout the 7 days we were there. Other staff however are absolutely lovely and especially our housekeeper, she didn't speak a word of English but I really liked her and she was always smiling!

-Hotel is Incredible, very close to the beach & town centre! Daily towel changing and bedroom cleaning, very spacious also -Food option is absolute fantastic caters for everyone, and staff will do anything to make your holiday the best it can be -Would like to mention 2 bar men, Alex & Kiriakos they work extremely hard and have a very fast service for drinks, 2 lovely people! -Would also like to say how brilliant the entertainments are, specially Micky, he went above and beyond to make your holiday the funnest it could be, he is so energetic and fun Homestly He made it us giggle always from start to finish There are cleaners , cleaning all the time on the resort so it's very clean, and kept on top off Would deffiantly come back here , had such a brilliant time! And already miss this place

We’re just home from a very relaxing week at Gouves Waterpark Hotel in Crete. The hotel is made up of several blocks each with its own pool. The water was cold but it was just the very start of the summer season and there’s a heated outdoor pool in the centre of the hotel complex. Kids are well entertained with the kids club, waterpark and the slides are for kids and adults. Every member of staff in the hotel is so friendly and nothing is a bother to any of them. The food is very good and the snack bar is AMAZING... proper burgers, pizzas and pork or chicken kebabs (gyros). I would like to make special mentions to the following people who enhanced our holiday just by being so nice... Aurelia and Mickey in the animation team – even though we didn’t get involved with the activities, they still took time to talk to us and Mickey even taught us the rules of UNO. Raphael the lovely bar man who kept us going on the double Baileys and the crazy bar lady (sorry, I didn’t get your name) who had us on the tequila the day we were leaving for home. A lot of the drinks were brand names. Vas, one of the managers who checked with us every day that we were not having any issues. Voila (with the immaculately pleated hair) is a sight to behold. She’s like a one-woman hurricane keeping the dining room clean and tidy. Anna in the shop. She was a delight to speak to every day and even taught us some Greek... Efharisto! Finally, at the airport we were stunned to find security staff and passport control smiling at us. I had to comment that its the first time I’ve been smiled at by passport officers. They said ‘You are in Crete’. 😁 It’s the happiest bunch of people we’ve met anywhere and we will definitely be back
